“PLAY” by Dave Grohl celebrates the rewards and challenges of dedicating one’s life to playing and mastering a musical instrument. Part one opens with narrated behind the scenes footage featuring discussion of the love of playing music and the lifelong relationship with an instrument, and detailing the process and challenges of recording and filming this unique performance. “PLAY" film then segues to the titular 23-minute, one-man-band instrumental recording on which Grohl plays all seven instruments on the track, all live.

😐😐😐…okay. I’ve loved Dave since the days of Nirvana. Love him in the Foo Fighters. Have always known him to be a badass drummer, guitarist, lead singer and songwriter. But THIS!?!? I had no clue Dave possessed this level of talent!!! This is prodigy level!!! From my understanding he has to record each instrument separately with no “click track” or previous recording to go off of. So he literally sat at the drums and had to play the entire song through on one take, remember all 20 minutes, then move to the next instrument and repeat, than repeat, until he nailed the song on all the instruments than edited the video all in one. GENIUS!!!!!!! Dave Grohl is a legend and an absolute master at his craft!! Amazing!!! This seriously blew me away!!! 🔥🔥🔥

He wrote and played every instrument on the first foos album.6 months after Kurt passed.he was only in nirvana for just under two years. People don't know this much, but Dave has stated that guitar was actually his first instrument. Basically kurt hired a musical enigma. Fast forward to today and as this video proves,he's easily the number one all round musician on the planet. The foos are on album number 10 and are more popular and current than the early days.....that's unheard of from any band.ever. Paul McCartney is one of his best friends.....says it all really.

I didn't copy or steal anything, just had the same thought as thousands of other people had. I bought this in a record shop off the presumption that “if it’s Dave Grohl it’s probably gonna rock” and boy when I put the needle on it and let it play, I was NOT disappointed! Plus the record came with a stage plot and official mic input list of this session which I appreciate as a musician myself. I’m rambling at this point, but I just wanna say I feel so blessed to be living on earth at the same time as this man.

Dave Grohl is on his way to becoming immortal. From Nirvana drummer, to Foo guitar and frontman, to inspiration for all musicians of every instrument. So happy to see the studio for the kids. Even happier to see it included in the Foo Fighters channel.

Schools need to realize that the arts can inspire students to do well in life, not just grades. This is my new anthem! I'm not a musician but love music, and Dave Grohl is actually a mentor in a way. He inspires me everyday to do what I love to do and do it well, because that's exactly what he does. Thanks Dave.

Music education, arts education, the process is, the lessons of living life, as a song, as a painting, writing, .... growing. Artist who share that there is no perfection in the becoming of, shows vulnerability as a human being- becoming. This is a blessing. I can’t believe I’m just seeing this. Creativity leads to ingenuity.

I remember being destroyed after Kurt died. 6 months later i'd watch my Nirvana vhs tape and sometimes I'd break down. The next year when I saw the first foo fighters video, I thought "what a cool name!" Cuz I was a ufo geek since my teen years in the 80s and knew what foo fighters were. Then I saw Dave and was floored. I was so happy and hopeful and excited for Dave. It almost felt like a resurrection for Nirvana. Dave's refusal to give up inspired me beyond belief. Thank you Dave! Oh yeah. This song kicks ass

Brent Little Same. And I remember the first time I heard a Foo Fighters song and I thought to myself, “Ooohh, I like him even BETTER!” I just thought his voice was gorgeous and the style of songs he sang had so much range. I have honestly been a fan as long as he has been around. I am never, ever disappointed by him.

he's my biggest influence since I was 11 and now I'm 13! My dream is to record an album with all instruments recorded by myself, just like he did. I already have a lot of song ideas on drums, bass and guitar. All I can do right now is just write songs and wait until the pressure of school is behind me. I agree that Grohl should be a big influence on young kids today who dream to become big rockstars (just like i wish) and I hope more kids will go Grohl's way instead of say, Minaj's way. Cheers from Israel!🤘
