I just completed a 6,000 mile US road trip in my 2021 Model 3 SR+ Over 13 days of driving (July 10 through July 31, 2022, with time in Kentucky) from Sacramento CA to Louisville KY and back (with numerous side trips), I drove nearly half what I drive in a year. The final analysis: Wow. This is definitely a road warrior vehicle, despite so-called “conventional wisdom.” I am still plugging in metrics and numbers, but I estimate about 60 charging stops. In all those stops, I only had ONE 5 minute wait, at Glenwood Springs, CO. One. 5 minutes. I’ve waited longer in a grocery store line. I drove through and charged in major cities (LA, Amarillo, OK City, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City) and countless small towns and wide spots in the road. Typically, I was either the only one there or one of two Teslas. My typical stop was 20-25 minutes. Enough time to have a short walk about, use the bathroom, grab a bottle of water, and then get back on the road (the breaks, and auto pilot, assured I’d be rested and relaxed after hours of travel). Weekdays, weekends, rush hour, nighttime, huge supercharger (50+) or small (4), interstate or blue highway… I drove and charged through them all. No cherry picking. ~60 superchargers. 6,000 miles. 13 days of driving. In July 2022. One wait. 5 minutes. I can’t speak for others. But a complete success in my book.

Hi Bjorn. Thanks for the test. I have a Mustang Mach-e First Edition LR AWD. I drove 115 to 125 km per hour about 700km from Ontario to Quebec on the major 401 highway. So a great range test in 28 to 30 C temperatures. My consumption was 20kW/100km going east in some slight tail wind. When I drove west on return trip I got 22kW/100km. I normally get 17 to 18kW/100km on my trips that have mix of rural roads 95km/hr and some divided highways at higher speeds along with a little bit of city driving. It has higher consumption compared to my Chevrolet Bolt EV but overall range is still better in the MME. So I am satisfied overall.

There is a Ford/Lincoln/Mazda specific diagnostics app FORScan, that I use on my Ford plug-in hybrid, but the fully featured Android app is paid ($5,99, €6,49, 65NOK). Also at least in my car I haven't found the HV Battery power value in there. But SoC Display, SoC BMS, volts, amps, temperature, and kWh are there. Edit: I used the desktop version to disable the horn honking when leaving the vehicle while it's still on, although I obviously would not suggest doing that on a borrowed car.

I Find it wierd that so far as i know they still havent implemented heat pump in the mach-e so here in the north with long winters the mach-e is way to thirsty in the winter

I was worried about that when I got my Mach e Long range AWD but the efficiency drops to 2.9 in the winter compared to 3.3 in summer at about 75mph. We don't have many high speed chargers in the UK but when I do get to a 250kw charger I do feel it should charge quicker.
@anthonyc8499
@anthonyc8499 Жыл бұрын
@@123italiano321 you'll get about 4km/kWh in rainy 4C temperatures at 100km/hr in the GT. A heat pump would have been nice for efficiency but the range effect isn't necessarily as much as people would have you believe. VW gave refunds to people who optioned the ID4 heat pump because the range was oversold.

I lose about 25% range in my cold Canadian winters in my Mustang Mach-e LR AWD. However with the big battery and faster DC charging it is not a big deal. Most of my travelling is within the range of reduced battery efficiency during winter. When I do make. 400km trip in winter I need to charge for about 15 minutes. No big deal!

Seems to me, in general, the high performance EV models by any manufacturer offer the one trick that may stand to impress your friends, spill your lunch 0-60 times. In the real world, that power is rarely usable and results in far less efficiency overall. I wouldn't replace my Kia ev6 wind awd with the ev6 gt even if some one gave it to me it to me for the same cost! I can rip on my ev6 in sport mode when I want to haul ass, or I can drive so I get between 4-5 kpm. That's not an option with this car. As someone who's last 3 cars have been ford's, I was ready to buy it, but it falls short in every regard except for the looks and drive quality. I love your videos btw.

There's no way that Mach-E can outrun a Model Y Performance on a twisty road. First of all, Mach-E weighs 2400 kg (2100 kg on Model Y Performance). The second problem is that the power in Mach-E is only available for 5 seconds. Then it throttles to about 70-80 % power for at least 30-60 seconds. If you keep pushing the car, the power will drop further to just 50 %. Watch tomorrow's video if you don't believe me.
