Hey Bjorn - nice video. Greetings from Germany. By chance i've just published a similar video exactly at the same time as you did with the Ford Mustang. I was driving my first gen. Leaf around town or as we affectionately call it, "The Grocery Getter" and it struck me that I really don't care how well it does on the energy consumption. That is because at the end of the day I plug it into my home level 2 charger and tomorrow it will be ready to head off for another round of errands. So how does this relate to this video? I asked myself if when I drive my Jeep on a long trip do I care about the weather and how it effects range? Nope. How about the heater use or tire size etc? I don't worry about that at all. Why you may ask? Well, it's because at almost any corner along the way there is a filling station where I can top off the tank and head out. Very rarely do I have to worry about where to get more fuel unless I'm headed out across some vast expanse of nowhere that has no gas stations. So finally here is my point...once we have charging stations as prevalent as gas stations we won't be worried about range, heater usage, weather etc. Kinda like what conclusion I have come to with my lowly Leaf. Filling up won't be a problem and we will just be able to drive without having to do all the math!
@harsimranbansal5355
@harsimranbansal5355 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The problem is mostly with the infrastructure not with the cars anymore. 300 km or 200 miles is enough if you have plenty of chargers everywhere!
@chrischild3667
@chrischild3667 3 жыл бұрын
yea @Ron Black nice points. The stat(s) I'm interested is charge time. In particular 10-80%. Just to know what to expect out on the road so as to plan journeys. A car with 120kW charge rate is gonna piss me off if it only achieves that for 1 min of charging and the rest of the time it manages only 60kW.
@TecnamTwin
@TecnamTwin 3 жыл бұрын
But that's exactly the point. There aren't chargers everywhere so long range and fast charging are a must. Even if there were Lvl. 2 chargers everywhere, that still wouldn't matter for long trips because that's just too slow. Thus, for most people Tesla is still the only option if they wanted to buy an EV and will be for some time. The Mustang Mach-E cannot replace a gasser because 280 km or 174 miles of winter range is TERRIBLE! It is not good enough and would not have worked at all for the multiple winter trips I've taken recently in both Michigan and Nebraska in low to sub-zero temps. For a commuter like most other EVs, it's fantastic but anything other than that would take longer than most have the patience or time off from work for.

@harsimranbansal5355
@harsimranbansal5355 3 жыл бұрын
@@RobbieFitzgerald you don’t kill the battery by charging quickly. It’s the heat that kills the battery. If the manufacturer has a good battery management system, the battery will easily last 20+ years with minimal degradation. On your point of charging speed, I sort of agree. After 2 hours stopping is nice and you only need to stop for 15-20 mins in any EV so not a problem.

I would have thought the heat pump would be just as useful in the summer, since it would mean you don’t need to run AC on a hot day (or roll down the windows and ruin the car’s aerodynamics).

Great review. Thanks for putting the work into the video. You outlined a lot of important things that outher reviews didn't ... like the drive assist and the charging. I'm sold !!! Dumping my garbage Tesla for a beautiful Ford Mustang Mach E. The Mach E looks so much better, and fun to drive. Very stylish and up to date. Absolutely love it!

Not a good result I think personally. Drove 333 km with ID.3 Pro S 77 kWh from 100-3% SOC @ 130 km/h and 4 degrees Celsius. Consumption was 22,1 kWh/100km @ 107 km/h average speed. Pretty pleased with my vehicle choice but Mach-E is still a pretty cool car 😎🤘⚡️ Nice video as always 👌

@@abraxastulammo9940 I'm saying that this isn't the finished production car, Ford Norway has told us several times that our cars when they arrive will be fully updated, the demo / pre production cars don't have the newest charging software, it's not a fair comparison to the finished production model. I'll wait for the production models to arrive before I'll trust the numbers.
