The injector cup removal tool makes the job easy. I noticed you flattened the front tyres on the pickup truck. That is a really interesting way to lower the engine to a decent level so you do not have to climb up onto a step ladder to work. I may use that method myself.

Drop a dime down in the injector cup. Fits perfectly and covers the hole so no shavings get into the cylinder

This is a dangerous demo! Don't do it for risking the shavings going through the hole and straight to the cylinder. Just use OEM remover; Its not that expensive.

Can injector cup replacement be done by a novice? I have an ‘03 that has bad injector cups and need to save a little money if I can.

Steven, how do we know we're not getting thread filings down into the cylinder?

Cessnatech drop a penny into the cup before you instal the removal tool

The tool fits as the injector therefore, the tip of the tool prevents it.

The installation tool fits the nozzle hole, not the removal tool. I always put a small wad of greased paper towel in the bottom of the old cup to plug the hole and prevent shavings from entering the cylinder. That way, you just toss it all. Works well for the 7.3 and all manner of Cat's.

You can put grease on the the removable tool, in the grooves, and it'll catch the filings.

Kinda worries me that your getting copper shavings that can go through the hole in the bottom of the cap..
@twayland61863 жыл бұрын
You could probably put something in the bottom of the cup before using the removal tool to catch any possible debris.
@EM-fi2qg2 жыл бұрын
I don't think the teeth of the tool are rotating on the brass cup to where it would create shavings. It's biting into the copper to grip it.
@mikemac08182 жыл бұрын
@@EM-fi2qg It does make shavings. I done the first one and saw the shavings in the bottom after I pulled the cup out. They were setting in the injector tip hole. I used a vacuum to suck them out and hope no fine ones went through the hole. Just need to put a small piece of clothe in the bottom of the cup before to install the tool.

@@mikemac0818 Thanks for the info. I'll keep it in mind when I do mine.
