@pablolagos9713
@pablolagos9713 2 жыл бұрын
The answer will more likely be: it depends on your body type, but it is a good idea to rank how hard certain movements would be for certain body types. For example, weighted pull ups will be easier than front lever hold for tall people (or people without hypertrophied upper body). Another example is handstand push ups. All the weight is on top of you (almost a vertical line) so it’s not that much harder (if any) for taller people compared to other body types

Yes, this would be a video that I would like to make at some point in the future. However, I do want to make sure that I spend ample time on training the exercises that I am going to rank to avoid the "all theory, no practical experience" comments.

@@GeekClimber for me the ranking isnt really that wrong. the flag is much easier for you just because your short arms make it almost impossible to hold the full front lever. while for people with very long arms and good pulling strength, it may result more difficult to hold the flag than it is to hold the FL

@@miso5968 I'd still say the Flag rating is a tad too high, from my experience at least i see way more people being able to do Flags than Front Levers. Doing Flag on a straight pole does increase the difficulty a bit tho.

@@GeekClimber I find this quite surprising.. I can do a 6-7 second front lever, 12 second back lever, and got those skills relatively easier. I can’t do human flag though. Im thinking maybe I lack push strength from a handstand position (pushing directly by sides rather than in front) I can dip a lot of weight, do one arm pushes and pseudo planche push-ups easy enough but the human flag still eludes me!

As impressive as it looks, its way easier to learn than expected. Whenever I had attempted it I couldn't hold it even for a moment and almost even dislocated my shoulder once. One day I randomly watched a calimove video where they did a human flag and they were holding the bars near the edges, like you mentioned, and it instantly clicked in my mind. I tried it again the very next session and could hold it without ever having trained for it on both sides, just like you. Probably the next best motivation boost move one can master after the muscle up.

I had always considered the flag to be too difficult of a skill to try out - but now seeing you try it, even off of the Swedish ladders without any real issue, you’ve inspired me to try to learn the straight bar human flag in the near future as well. I’ve been able to do fronts and back levers for pretty long times for at least a year or so now, and have been working on the planche, but this seems like a good detour skill to pick up!

this comment is wild because I used to be able to hold a human flag for like 5-7 seconds, nothing nuts. Yet I have never been close on a front lever/back lever/planche. At the time my shoulder pushing strength was pretty good and pull up strength was adequate. I'm working back up on those things this year now that I have access to a gym again and addressed some injuries from other sports. Anyways I think you will be able to do it!

@@Itstime1231 Thanks! Yeah, I had always had it in my mind that the hand holding positions for the straight bar human flag were going to be very difficult and grindy on our bottom hand, as it didn't seem very intuitive physically (now I can understand it's more of a push pull to keep yourself up due to the supinated hand per this video).
