Have you ever wondered why 70% of the time it's women filing for #divorce ? Hint: it's not a lack of commitment on their part. It's just a hunch, but here's what I think.

When I got divorced I was genuinely shocked at how little extra I had to do now my 'stay-at-home housewife/mother had left. Child support? After being threatened by my ex with legal action for not paying enough maintenance, I got in touch with the 'Child Support Agency', (UK), told them the situation and a very nice young lady told me I was paying far too much.

@@stoptheworldiwannagetoff4780 I don't know anything about how it works in the UK, but in Virginia we have a formula for child support. There's not an official formula for spousal support, but we have an unofficial one that at least provides a basic starting point for negotiations (or litigation, if it comes to that). Sometimes people agree to - or the court awards - an upward deviation, but not often. You see the highest awards of child support (the shocking ones) when there are young kids in childcare. Here, the costs are just astronomical- so it does make support look inflated. And even once kids start school, there are often still high childcare costs because school doesn't go for work hours, and then there's the whole summer - where working parents often need camps or daycare programs too.

@@stoptheworldiwannagetoff4780 I'm not suggesting making choices deliberately to take advantage of the system. I'm trying to help women ask the right questions so that they get what they should under the law of the state they live in. Everyone - man or woman - should know what to expect and should have good legal advice. Ideally, you'd look into it before you marry - but not many do this. Still, it's a choice. No one will make you get married.

There's some truth to what you're saying here.. as men, we do stake our value and purpose on providing and protecting our families. The one you missed, however, is that men are far more likely to honor their commitments and, in marriage, will tolerate significantly more crap than most women. Western women are trained from a very early age to think of themselves and their happiness above all else. Our mothers and grandmothers understood their duty was the to God, their husbands, the marriage and the family. Selfishness is rampant in our culture, and there's a divorce industry making billions off of the destruction of nuclear families.
@YourGirlfriendNeedsaDivorce

@@davelips I don't think it's fair or helpful to expect women to put up with abuse and unhappiness to prove some point about honoring commitments. We should be happy. We should be treated with basic decency and respect. We should have a fair and equitable balance in our relationships that supports everyone's well being. Our society is based on conditioning women to do caregiving work - work that is often unpaid and always under appreciated - to support kids and husbands. Women are tired of it and men who aren't able or willing to help shoulder the load are finding themselves divorced.
@davelips
@davelips 29 күн бұрын
@YourGirlfriendNeedsaDivorce modern men do more domestic work than any generation prior.. and we do it willingly, and with a spirit of wanting to see our wives happy. But the fact is our fathers and grandfathers did far less.. for much more loyal, virtuous, and higher quality women. The lie of feminism is that women can have it all... but there are tradeoffs to every decision. Instead of empowering women to help us build together and run the home and children as God intended.. we brainwash them into thinking a career is the only path to happiness and freedom. In the process, our children are raised by strangers, and our marriages are failing at ever greater percentages because of burnout and discontentment.. The ultimate result is that men and women are more unhappy and lonely than they've ever been in history. The outcomes bear out that truth.

"Received?" You mean earned, right? After all, if the man is working full time while the wife stays home, he has "earned" his right to keep what he earned. Wow, what an absolute crock of crap this video was. How about women just seem to get bored with their marriage, and instead of fighting to make it better............they just leave. You know, the grass is always greener. Until it's not. And most men get raked over the coals when it comes to the children. Women (no matter how bad mothers they are) get full custody in a lot of divorces, even if the father is a great one. This video was horrible. Horrible.
@YourGirlfriendNeedsaDivorce
@YourGirlfriendNeedsaDivorce 29 күн бұрын
@@danieldistrola2873 I'm not sure you know anything about family law these days. No women are leaving because they are bored. Women are not getting full custody. And marriage is about more than who made the most money which is why things are not divided that way.
