Today I want to show you additional overall quilting designs. Very easy twisted ribbon, a bit more complex Maze within a maze, Then my tangled leaves which is build from S-curves of different sizes. At the end I will show you how I tried to understand the wood grain design…. The end effect is not bad😊

Thanks for sharing your learning process. I am also woodgrain challenged. I must try your method and see if my brain can conquer the design. S curve fills are definitely at the top of the list of favorites. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to your videos. 😊

Hi again! Thank you for your feednack! I think I have a love/hate relationship with the wood grain design. I will get it one day 😁. I need to spend more time drawing, I think. But I got some more ideas in the meantime ❤❤❤❤

Welcome to my channel! You can do it! I watched so many reluctant people turning into creative quilters❤❤❤. Start easy, I have some other videos with very easy "starter" patterns. Rules for best quilting: relax, dont't expect perfection, do not compare with others, compare with your previous work....take a deep breath, think round thoughts and let go. Quilting is a very slow art. Keep me posted on your progress!❤❤❤❤

Thank you❤❤❤. I have watched this video three times now. I love your way of doing the wood design, it is much easier. Now for #3 design, I love that one a lot also. I’m trying to get that part of the design that goes at an angle between the larger area but I can’t get a consistent pattern when I’m trying to create and practice this on paper. I will keep trying and watching your video closely. Thank you for another amazing video. ❤️❤️❤️🌞🌻

Hi! I admit that I got the idea for this pattern the moment I hit the record button. It means I also need some time to udnerstand it. However, as with every quilting pattern it is all about divide and fill. I don't know how large is the area you are trying to fill, bit my large S-curves are about 1/3 of the edge length. Try playing with the angles. Also I went around my area and filled it as I went. If your area is too large it can be challenging at first. I will try to use it again in some of my next videos and clarify some things better. Thank you for your feedback! Such comments make me think and in the end make me better at explaining. I will also try to doodle it during lunch break😃❤❤❤❤❤

Yes I get challenged too with reverse images so S curves and woodgrain confuse my brain so much that I can't do them, even ribbon does too. However I think ribbon is beginning to sink in. S curves I'll still give amiss but your method of woodgrain makes perfect sense to me. I can see how a lot of wavy lines plus some backtracking gives a lovely effect as the fill in provided I didn't try to fill in every gap. I must give these a try so thank you for showing it in real time so we see the whole process.

Thank you for the feedback! Despite years of quilting I still have patterns where I am getting lost. Wood grain is one of them. And I have to concentrate real hard when I quilt designs with alternating directions. I prefer a real speed videos. Sometimes I try to find something as inspiration for me but most of them are accelerated.... Maybe I am an old school😅😂❤❤❤

I am a big fun of Janome. This one in my videos is M7, this very large one but I used to have a Horizon and it was wonderful too. Just smaller. Thank you for watching!❤❤❤

Very nice, Gosia! I like the ribbon one, bever saw that one before, seems fairly easy to do. I have done pattern #2 a few times in small areas and borders The S lines one is the most striking, though.~Cynthia P.S. the wood grain one always intimidated me so I never tried that!

Hi Cynthia! The ribbon is perfect for fast projects. It is indeed very easy variation of a meander line. I love S-cirves. There are so many possibilities and they always relax me. And wood grain is really frustrating. I am still trying to understand it so I can show it better for others..... Life is a journey, right....❤❤❤❤

@@rootsrocksfeathers1975 Thank you for noticing it! I think we all have enough of the illusion of ease and perfection from social media. Skill takes time and attention. ❤❤❤

@@quiltingnerd Yes! Trying to keep up an illusion must be exhausting! Learning to machine quilt takes a LOT of practice and thread and the courage to try new things, push yourself. I know the vast amount of practice it took to get to your skill level. I may get there one day, am much more skillful than I was a couple of years ago, but not without spending some hours at the machine. I look forward to your new videos and while I wait for the next, I go back and watch the previously recorded ones. I think I have improved just by watching some of the moves over and over! Blessings to you, have a great upcoming week. ~Cynthia
