Take all the meta-humor of the Animaniacs, amp up the trolling, and add a dash of superhero styling and body humor and you’ve got yourself Freakazoid. While the show seems to be completely sure of who and what it is, it turns out, there were a LOT of twists and turns into bringing the show that gifted us with a PG version of Deadpool pre-Deadpool. Freakazoid was ahead of it's time. It was essentially a show that was doing memes before that was even a thing. It's probably why as millennials we were attracted to the show so much. I love this show.

By their descriptions, sure. But watching them, they're plenty different from each other. Side note, Jim Carrey was hella busy in the early 90s. Mask, Ace Ventura, and Dumb and Dumber, all of which got animated series in the same year.

@@the-NightStar Um...doubtful anime studios rarely reboot series that aren't megahits "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon", connected to an established property "Dragon Quest Dai" have a sizeable cult following in their home country "Ge Ge Ge no Kintaro". There is also the issue of how much of the rights to the show Saban has, also keep in mind that studio isn't known for having an in-house animation studio.

While most people think Deadpool is the first Marvel character to break the fourth wall, it was actually She-Hulk. Not sure if she's the first superhero to do it, the oldest that I know. Not counting the original TMNT series.

greetings, l can scarcely remind this show, but one thing had a deep impact in me: in one chapter, Freakazoid father is unable to draw number 5 by writing four vertical lines on the blackboard, as he places the 5th diagonal line either horizontal or vertical. l ignore if this joke is original of this show or if it's a parody of somewhere else. l only saw this chapter before it were canceled in my town network

Well in 1992 there was a Marvel Comics Character that was closer to what Freakazoid sort of became, his name was "Slapstick", a Superhero who had Reality Warping Powers that were derived from the Laws of Cartoon Physics, basically he was like a Cartoon Character living in the Real World, though he wasn't always handled very well during his career, and has been on numerous superhero teams, even Deadpool considered Slapstick to be his Most Powerful Ally, he's even featured in the videogame "Marvel: Future Fight" along with some of the other members of the "Mercs for Money", Hopefully Slapstick can be given more justice to his character in the near future, like appear in a new Deadpool Movie where Deadpool forms the Mercs for Money and has Slapstick join the team.

Do you remember TaleSpin? Aka the time Disney randomly dropped 3 anthropomorphic jungle book characters into a 1930s storyline about a struggling cargo business? It would be advantageous to do a nostalgia trip episode on this show in particular, because the new Ducktales will be incorporating at least 2 characters from the show into the Ducktales canon.

I remember reading Bruce Timms thoughts on FREAKAZOID in the Modern Masters book and he was constantly trying to dodge corners til he was approach with working on Superman.

A logical follow up to this vid would be The Mask: The animated series, since the comparison is so obvious. But if you do a nostalgia trip on The Mask cartoon, you may as well turn that into a 3 video trilogy by adding Jim Carrey's 2 other animated series Ace Venture, and Dumb and Dumber.

If you guys want to review a really weird cartoon on your next Nostalgia Trip, then I recommend "The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police". This series follows the titular dog and rabbity-thing detective duo on their many wacky adventures beyond time and space. Sam & Max is one of my favorite franchises and the iconic pair have a rather interesting history behind them. I loved The Huntsman! They had this whole detailed theme song, only for him to have nothing to do. To this day, when something goes wrong, I find myself saying, "Darn the luck, darn!"
