May 15, 1989 - In Game 4 of the 1989 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, the Milwaukee Bucks suited up just seven healthy players. Terry Cummings (ankle), Rickey Green (hip), Larry Krystowiak (knee surgery), Paul Mokeski (ribs), and Paul Pressey (shoulder) all donned street clothes as their team faced down an 0-3 series deficit.
Thrust into a featured role, 29-year-old BYU graduate Fred Roberts responded, running from sideline to sideline, utilizing an endless stream of screens to operate off of fades and curls, playing 46 minutes and scoring 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting.
Alas, his performance was not enough. Roberts was held scoreless over the game's final 6:28 as the Detroit Pistons bounced back from a 21-point deficit to secure a series-ending 96-94 win.
Roberts' 33-point performance stood as a career-high.
