Nicely done, don't be too hard on yourself about the progress your making its impressive to see. I would recommend something I do with my regulators. If the gun is shooting over 8" apart I will adjust and shoot the guns without a wedge in the muzzle until I get them about right then make a wedge to fit its new position with some room for fine adjustment accounted for on the new wedge. It saves time and effort in making and adjusting wedges that aren't right for the muzzle and will need replacing with smaller or bigger ones anyway. best of luck with the project, look forwarded to seeing how it works out. 👍

When I regulated my 50cal o.u. cva. I used mathematics inorder to determine what the distance between the barrels needed to be. I went from a 24 inch spread to a 4inch one in one move. Algebra. This is to this as that is to that.

Yeah... I was talking to a gentleman that works for Westley Richards and he was telling me that it takes a little bit to get it.

AAd a little higher comb that stocks got lots of drop in it. Stick on rubber ones work and stick on with strong hold yet easy removal. Or as lace on one like the m1 garand type.

It should be good now. The rear sight needed a notch cut in it, so my cheek wasn't all the way down. I just finished the last video and finished the notch. Tight cheek weld now. Thanks for watching

Do you reload? I think reload different bullet/powder combinations could be just as effective to regulate point of impact. I say this because the Baikal I had would ONLY shoot 2 bullets of 20 I tried to within 3" at 50. I had to play with powder amounts and a couple varieties of primers and brass, but it was fun.
@LanceHanlonOutdoors4 ай бұрын
I do reload... Had tried all different types of bullets and powders. Nothing would bring them in close.
@ChristopherHindle18 күн бұрын
I suggest you should only attempt this on a low cost rifle like a Baikal, very easy to ruin a fine double rifle by tampering with the zero, which has usually been fixed by the makers before sale, and the sold gun will include a target showing the shot placement from the two barrels.
@LanceHanlonOutdoors18 күн бұрын
Uhh yeah... I know that. I have shot a lot of double rifles from many makers and understand not to mess with them. Thanks for watching

I thought that Baikal doubles were screw adjustable. One barrel, the non adjustable one, was zeroed using the sights. Then the adjustable one was zeroed by screw adjustment.
@LanceHanlonOutdoors5 ай бұрын
They are. Mine never would get a group better than 1' apart

Are you asking about the regulation jig?
@johnnorris10248 ай бұрын
Re regulating most double rifles is very difficult and time consuming. When doubles rifles are initially regulated at the factory, the manufacturer tends to use a particular bullet and powder charge. I have read with the Baikal MP221 in 45-70 caliber. They were regulated with 405 grain bullet and a 36 grain charge of powder. Often times it is much easier to just research and try different rounds before going to the trouble of re regulating. Also, not all express guns are regulated at the same range. Industry standard is 50 to 55 meters.
@LanceHanlonOutdoors8 ай бұрын
I tried 10 different factory rounds before. Couldn't hit anything within a 1' circle. This gun now shoots within 1.5" at 50 yards and out to 75 they are just about touching. Thanks for watching.

Good job regulating the barrels sux my first one spoiled me went easy. The second one sucked really bad seemed like it would never get it. Hoping the 3 rd on goes as good as the first.

Please be decerning with regards to the ammo you are using. Baikal " regulated" these rifles using Remington 405gr "Trapdoor" loads. The barrels on these rifles in .45 cal are paper thin. Mine shot fine using Rem 405s out of the box. The accuracy you attained should be more than sufficient for any double rifle's intended purpose as none are MOA. Outstanding job.
@LanceHanlonOutdoors7 ай бұрын
I had tried the 405's at 50 and 75 yds. I must have gotten a bad rifle. Even using the jack screw, I could never get them to shoot within a foot of each other. Thanks for watching.

Don't these Baikals have a screw function for regulation?

I couldn't get the jack screw to adjust the barrels closer than 1' apart. That's why I removed it. As soon as I'm in the clear from my doctor I'll be shooting it again.

They do... I removed mine. After shooting 15 types of ammo and adjusting it, I decided a 1' group was terrible. I removed the screw and went this way instead. I was able to get them within 1.5" but want them even closer without them crossing.
