Buddy was truly the very KING of contemporary music- He was what really got the Beatles started - Buddy was the real root, & then Paul made further progress on where Buddy left off- Like many others have said "Buddy left us much too soon" & you can see how he also strongly influenced many other UK bands-

People that are comparing Buddy and Elvis.......both are right. I am not a big Elvis fan but have to admit his vocal range and his sound was amazing. Yet you have Buddy, wrote his own songs, put together a small band that sounded like a band much bigger. Both were excellent musicians, both could play multiple instruments. WHO CARES, Elvis gave us a angelic voice, Buddy gave us ROCK N ROLL......it is a wash...they are both gave birth to it. Take away one and it doesn't exist until the 60's. I do believe had Buddy lived, he would have surpassed Elvis in popularity.

So, to the Elvis "bashers" (and I can't believe there would even be any if you're here watching this vid in the first place) the next time you are enjoying some great old-school Rock ‘n Roll from Buddy, Eddie, Carl Perkins or anyone else from that era, remember, if it wasn’t for Elvis, you probably wouldn’t be listening to it. Give the guy some respect, he did us ALL a huge favor….

Lol, Elvis could play the guitar just fine. And the piano. And Buddy loved Elvis, in fact, was excited to meet him. Elvis also told him that he was ready to be a performer. There’s even vintage footage on KZfaq of Elvis, Buddy, and Johnny Cash, all hanging out together. Don’t create competition where there was none. Those guys all respected each other.

Thanks for uploading, this "off-stage" stuff of these guys is extremely interesting as there isn't much of it (unfortunately). I didn't realize this was in Eddie's room (big bonus for me, he's one of my favs). Also, not sure I understand some of the "cutting" comments on Elvis. If it wasn't for him, Eddie wouldn't have been "Eddie" and Buddy wouldn't have been "Buddy" (and if we could talk to these guys today, they'd be the first to admit it). Continued below....

Elvis lit the fuse that inspired great artists like this to change direction in their music (anyone with any rock history knows that as Buddy and Eddie were country prior) and create what is arguably the best music ever. The fact is, if it wasn't for Elvis, we probably wouldn't all be this interested in listening to this interview. Continued below...

cajun pitt Buddy was from Lubbock, Texas; that's hardly a Hillbilly town (or city). Maybe to a native from Los Angeles, or New York, it is. Buddy was very young, innocent and sweet. Maybe that "sheltered" disposition makes you think he was a Hillbilly; he wasn't. Musically, he was beyond sophisticated and brilliant!
