The s5ii has a readout speed of 25ms ☠️☠️ this the the main problem with all full frame cameras right now. I don't know about you but I cannot stand jiggling jello rolling shutter video

I picked up a S5ii at launch, to complement my Fujifilm setup, and I've been loving it. Used the money that I originally set aside for an X-T5, and got the S5ii. X-T5 wasn't a big enough upgrade over my X-T4 to bite the bullet.

@@Iamtongue The camera is a beauty. I bought it and currently use it for night photography, general video, and full-frame portraits. The camera motivates me to do video, which is what I wanted. Really love the Panny files. I still use my Fujifilm camera a lot though. X-T4 is my travel photo + video camera. My X-T3 is my small bag street photo camera. And then I have my X-E3 + 27mm f2.8 as everyday pocket cam.

I did the same! Was gonna sell my XPro 3 for XT5 but ended up getting S5II because I’ve always wanted full frame. Still have an XT2 so no regrets!

I enjoyed your video very much. I switch from a XH2s and a XH2 to the S5ii. Fuji may have more 3rd party support, but all of the lenses for the Panasonic are excellent IMHO. Some big items you missed regarding the customs settings, C3 can have 10 settings on its own C3-1 through C3-10, so you have 12 custom settings. Then you can save and restore custom settings as a set from the SD card, so unlimited custom settings. Also there is an option to not overwrite the saved custom setting on the card while formatting and the formatted card is labeled LUMIX not Untitled. When you switch between custom settings the name of the custom setting is displayed on the screen briefly. Each of the custom settings can have there own Q and My menus. Every button can be programmed to almost any feature. When you zoom in and out the zoom mm is shown on the display. There are many other items where as a Fuji user you pray that Fuji will implement and Panasonic already has. I miss the Fuji community though. Glad to see I can now look forward to more of your S5 ii content. Michael

That’s great to now, I switched to the Canon FF but the lenses were way too big and expensive, so I switched back to Fuji, But I will definitely investigate the Panasonic lens system.

Great comparaison. Do you think that with the real time lut on the lumix I can get as pleasing results (even if not identical) on the lumix without the need of editing in post for photos or color grading for video??? I would prefere the lumix but I fear that I would need to edit or color grade to get good results. And I want a fast work flow. Tks a lot for you views

Another great video, thx for this rewiev. Everybody knows that Fuji colors are the best, but your examples of S5II photos are also great. What was your editing process for this flowers and street shots and which picture profile are the best on Lumix?

The flowers were edited on the presets I've made for my Fuji raws. Funny enough they look better on the S5ii raw 😅😂 And honestly I'm not a fan of the S5ii's picture profile. Camera Standard and Camera Portrait is the one I stick to the most.

Thanks for another great comparison video. Both systems look more then capable, i think it will come down to do you really need FF for the 2 main advantages one being shallower depth and the other high ISO performance? Or are you willing to sacrifice that for lighter optics and a bit better color and dynamic range for the Fuji crop? Personally for me Fuji has enough lens options especially with the 50f1.0 & 33f1.4 to give plenty shallow depth and yes i would prefer lighter system and sacrifice having a bit more noise in high iso then rather lug around heavy FF lenses. But everyone will have their own preferences

Excellent comparison! Did you notice moire patterns on the s5ii due to the lack of AA filter to the sensor?And if so is it going to be a problem on professional work?

The S5II is a better pick for me, but a better comparison would have been the XH2S. Also, Fuji may have more lenses, but Panasonic has an extensive Sigma catalog too. You can't go wrong with either camera. It just depends on what suits your use case better.

@@AqworldsAuildere Still laggy. Panasonic seriously needs firmware to address it. It's weird because the first time after it has been off for a while, there is a delay, but if you shut it off and start it again, the delay is minimal.

As an X-T5 user - I think the warpy stuff only happens in 4K HQ? I have not seen it on standard 4K. Once I have edited and rendered it out, I don't see the difference in quality anyhow - so rarely use 4K HQ. Not sure if it is the same on the X-H2?

Yes it's the same... 4kHQ and 8K is where you're going to see the warpy wobbles... I believe once you shoot regular 4k it does get better.

Hi. When you compare burst rates of both cameras images on the X-H2 look much more noisy than S5. Is it due to some baked in Fujifilm recipes with grain or is there such a difference on standard settings between the two. It's quite noticeable.

I'm trying to choose between Fujifilm X-T5, Sony α6700 and Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX for a hybrid video and photography use case. It will be my first camera and I want to do a youtube channel with it, record workout videos, product reviews, night filming, as well as zoom photography. Any suggestion what to get? It feels perfect camera doesn't exist and all have some drawbacks but it's really hard to say which drawbacks are a deal breaker when you don't even have a camera in your hands oputside of mobile phones

Both the Lumix S5 II and the XH2S are great options for wedding videos! It ultimately depends on your personal preferences and shooting style. I'd recommend doing some research and comparing the features of both cameras to see which one suits your needs better. XH2s has a stacked sensor, CF EXrpess type b S5ii does not S5ii does have the robust video features that works better for video shooters... I can't say the same for Fujifilm..

New subscriber here! Like most of us here I love Fujifilm system but of course I wish some things would work better. I've started my photo/video journey with X-T3 (3 years ago I was looking only for crop sensors suitable for a beginner because that time I thought full frame is taken only by pros and for sure I wasn't so I've decided to pick between X-T3, A6400 and GH5/GH5S for my 50/50 photo/video work). I still have X-T3 and 6 lenses to it (3 native and 3 third part) which is more than enough for my shooting (although most of them are f/2, brightest is manual f/1.4 and slowest is 16-80 f/4), and with the newest Lightroom update and noise reduction I feel that even APS-C from Fuji now can almost match FF smooth and sharp look. However for more video work I'd like to add second body. Especially for (of course) better autofocus and smooth transitions between focus and defocus areas - I don't have LM lenses for Fuji - maybe they work better for that specific case? IBIS would be also nice addition but for super smooth shots I just use Ronin. So now I have similar dilemma like 3 years ago but actually I don't want swap systems and sell most lenses (would be heartbreaking lol). So I'm thinking to complete my setup with: A) Fujifilm X-H2S B) Lumix S5II C) Something from Sony like A7 IV which should be workhorse for both video and photo All have the same prices but of course FF glass is more expensive. Also I've heard Fujifilm video files work a bit better/smoother in editing software than Sony's. Anyone can confirm that?

@@Iamtongue yes I’ve noticed that when I was trying once Sony FX3 but I’ve thought maybe I messed something with settings. My MacBook Pro 16 wasn’t happy with this footage and with Fuji 4K 200mbps no problem.

I'm a photographer but would like to start experimenting with short clips of video, like 15-30 seconds, to mix in with photo slideshows. So, like a day of street photography but with a little bit of video in the mix. Currently have the xt3 but I feel like the autofocus sucks. Would xt5 be good enough for what I'm trying to do? Or xh2/s so I can do video but stay with Fuji? All the hype is making me want the s5ii, but I'm afraid it might be not be the best choice for photography.

Btw, one thing you missed is that the S5ii has Real Time Luts! You can export your own Luts from Lightroom or Davinci and grade your footage in-camera! This also applies to photos, so see it as Panasonics way of Film Simulations.

what about the different rollig shutter of the s5 in comparision to the xh2s. does it affect the image a lot. I actually am not a huge fan of rolling shutter and the xh2s has the really nice and fast processor to reduce it down to 11ms

I have way too much gear. I actually did end up selling my XH2 though and have the XH2S and S5ii and GFX 100s. Mostly, there are time the S5ii is the right tool for a certain scene, and times the XH2S is. Then when I need to take a high MP image, the GFX 100s is my go to. I just don’t like traveling with it because it’s heavy so usually the XH2S is what travels with me.

You can literally bake in simulations on a s5 ii. You can even buy the luts with the " Fuji look". I own Sony , Fuji and Panasonic and wishhhhhh Fuji would make a full frame sensor rather than just cropped and " kind of medium" format, Sony is king with lens and AF but is very stale, Panasonic IMO is a combination of both

considering both are 2.5k... wouldn't it be more interesting to compare the S5IIX with the X-H2S? X-H2 seems more like a good hybrid camera but wit more of a focus on photography and less video features while teh X-H2S and S5II/S5IIX are true hybrids

Can You do A/B comparison of some portrait photos, to evaluate skin tones? Only I can find on KZfaq is Xing Liu videos, but these shows how Fuji skim tones are superior over panasonic S5. Im surprised that You find Panasonic color science match Fujis 😅

I tried S5II in my local camera shop and realized it performed similarly to my XT5 and faster than the XT30 I originally owned. Not bad, I think, since I use Fuji with 70-300 to shoot birds. Then I picked up the Canon R7 nearby just for a try. And I figured out, damn, the Canon is really fast🤣. But to be honest, the S5II focus is good for photos already, even for bird shooting. You will expect some missed focus sometimes(slow focusing, but maybe is because I did not adjust the focusing speed or some other settings?). But on the shelf, it performed similarly to my Fujis and I am used to it already, so for me, is good. Maybe not so for Sony users, but why do they consider Lumix anyways🤔. The only downside is the S5II is heavier compared to R6ii and Z6ii. But the weather-sealed camera body and lens( Lumix Lmount are all sealed up from top to bottom) are a huge plus when considering using it in outdoor conditions. Canon did not advertise their R6ii camera weather-sealed on their website, the same as Nikon Z6II. And only part of their lens( like the high-end Canon "red ring" ) is sealed up. I think even Sigma L mount lenses are weather sealed, according to their website. Considering Canon has a good reputation for wildlife shooting and Nikon is "always" tough against the elements, common, why still cut edges on this small design in 2023?

(I'll keep all my Fujis' so don't be upset, my lady loves the fuji camera🤣)Now I'm waiting for the Amazon to ring my bell tomorrow. I just discovered I can ebay some leica m lens and adapt it to the L mount adapter, hope it will come out great haha.

But the lumix and xh2 are closer in image quality, have similar price, and neither have a stacked sensor. Other that 14bit flog 2, af, rolling shuter and opengate… xh2 and 2s have the same video features. Xh2 and the lumix is the better comparison imo.

I enjoyed your video, but disagree about lens selection. There are about 65 native AF L-mount lenses, as well as numerous Laowa, ttArtisans, 7artisan etc, and AF adapters for EF - which pretty much exceeds Fuji's options (I am a Fuji + L-mount photographer).

I wouldn’t necessarily steer someone away from the S5 II or the any camera because of Lens Selection 😂 especially in 2023. 150 lens vs 88 Lens means absolutely nothing when your only going to end up with 4 to 5 tops no matter what you pick. As a working professional I wish this wasn’t the talk track, especially for people who love a system on either side but doubt their pick thinking there aren’t great lens for the Camera they really want.

I got the X H2s which is more than anything ill need for next 10ys until the XH3s comes out lol. S5ii awesome but imo the R6ii or Sony A7iv is better. S5ii video features seem gimmicky.

@@Iamtongue Only tried it for photos. I didn't feel the R6ii was a big upgrade over the R6 so it was returned. Also returned the Sony A7iv. X H2s just worked out to be the best for my needs Great photos, great video, 4k 120 but that video af does need a couple more firmware updates.

I’ve owned all three. For video: S5II > A7IV > R6II. A7IV is solid, but it isn’t reliable (overheat, even with high temp setting on). R6II ibis is horrible and CLOG 3 is too noisy and lacks dynamic range. The ibis on the S5II is damn good, has 6K with open gate, and the image is the best out of the three imo. Why I kept the S5II to pair with my C70.

Lol s5 video gimicky… and the overheating is a cool feature on the sony? For people who take video seriously s5 is a dream and it takes great pivctures too at a lower price. Sony can do less for more money and is less reliable because of the overheating. The biggest no no sony has is that there is not enough space between camera and lense . I cant hold it without rubbing my fingers on the lense. I dont pay this much money for a camera i cant hold comfortabely. S5 has none of sonys issiues.

Really sorry but I have to question you on the cost of storage you can buy external SSDs for 100 bucks off Facebook marketplace. Seriously extra storage is not an issue. Please please stop saying that it is not expensive to buy a 2 TB SSD do not skip on image quality and the excuse that we need to go for less megapixels to say storage is the dumbest thing a photographer can do seriously, SSDs are cheap and there’s plenty of them around.
