When you play a game on Xbox One it's right in the center of your home screen. I don't understand how anyone can not find it the next day.

I was in the chat during the Halo reveal. It was FAR from a "mixed" reaction, I assure you...it was BRUTAL...and rightfully so. That was a remarkably poor showing from what was supposed to be one of the most highly anticipated games in recent memory. I'm really pulling for 343...but that was...rough.

It’s not permanently audio only. They’ll be back with video in approximately 2 weeks, same for BEYOND! show. GAMESCOM is next week so ramping up for that and their video resources were strained to accommodate for both. This was mentioned on the IGN post yesterday.

Prince of Persia might not have been listed for xbox one, if it's just a port, because it's already available via backwards compatibility on the system. Also due to the fact that no one in the cast pays attention to sports, the NBA is taking place in a quarantine bubble at Disneyworld in Orlando. And NBA 2K20 or 2K21 could patch in courts and backgrounds that are specific to this bubble experience.

Anyone else notice the frequent Discord join and leave sounds throughout the episode? I know they use discord to conference for the video versions, but not noticed the sounds before. Guess the video time normally edit those out too :)

What are they even talking about when it comes to the current Xbox UI? The default position for the “cursor” upon turning on the Xbox is the last game or app you used. There’s a row of slightly smaller icons right next to that giant one which are the next six games/apps you used before that one. If what you want isn’t one of the last seven things you used, you hit down once and press A. You just hit a box clearly labeled “My Games & Apps”. From the moment it boots you are literally two clicks from the list of every game and app you have installed. I think the store is unnecessarily convoluted but I’m lost when it comes the rest of what they’re saying.

I'm enjoying Battletoads. Lot of variety in moves / gameplay than other beat-em-ups. Graphics / voice acting is a nice touch. Lotta nostalgia and humor. ;D Loving it

Justin is either being hyperbolic or yes, he is a dummy. Your most recently used apps are represented by big ass visual icons on the launch page, and then there is always an easily accessible games and apps folder. I'm an owner of all 3 consoles and Xbox by far as my favorite ui of any of them. I can literally open the slider mid-game and change my controller's button mapping and a bunch of other nice quick access things. The lack of the native share button was the worst aspect of the controller/ui for me

F1 2020 is an intersting example of a game that was released during the pandemic but made changes to it. But I believe it still acts as though all the races of the season happened. (Maybe someone who's bought it can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still playing F1 2019)

Glad they've now updated Fall Guys to support camera invert. The irony is that I've played enough of this game that I've now adapted to regular camera controls and now I use these on every game. I'd been playing inverted for 20 years!

All you're most recent apps or games are easily visible? They're the square to the right right when you boot up ur xbox one. Or you could hit the home button and theyre all right there, even easier is just go to ur games and you can set the filter to last used, last updated, a to z its quite handy.

What are Sam and Justin talking about with the Xbox UI? Not sure if this counts, but PlayStation All Stars had a level set in Columbia from Bioshock Infinite, yet Playstation All Stars came out 4 months before Bioshock Infinite did.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think 343 Industry has ever said the Infinite will be "open-world". The implications have always been sandbox level design, and the ability to return to levels. I've gotten a Tomb Raider/God of War impression but with wide level areas, not open world like Horizon, Assassin's Creed, BOTW, or a CD Project Red game. Maybe like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or The Last of Us Part 2 open levels with side activities.

That was like pulling teeth. The Current UI is superb as was the last iteration of the 360 UI. The mistake Microsoft made was that the scrapped the progress they made with the 360. We are at a point now where the UI has surpassed the previous. Strangely similar to how current gen and next gen sports games usually lose alot of the features for a prettier game but a worse experience.

Outsourcing can be a problem because you have a huge disruption in knowledge transfer. You ship a portion of development to a third party, they make it, and they're done. But what doesn't happen is that knowledge transfer, especially if that portion of development gets traded off to multiple other third parties. You describe that your outsourcing goes through a process where it can be verified and set to a standard. From what I've been reading, I don't see that happening much.

If anyone listens to Sacred Symbols they talked about this halo stuff before this report came out. They were specifically talking about how little of the development is done in house. For me personally it kind of proves the story that they outsourced too much.

I think it was smart for Halo to be pushed back. My concern is that Halo will be compared to Cyberpunk 2077. Regardless of what you think of Halo’s graphics, there is no denying it’s no where near the level of Cyberpunk or even Flight Simulator’s. Plus a big problem if Cyberpunk 2077 releases with a significantly less number of open world bugs than Halo’s open world bugs.

Not sure about that load time on boot up. The PS4 boots much quicker. My Xbox will sometimes sit at green screen with logo. But the whole UI and using your phone won’t be there in a year. Xbox has been designing the UI dashboard since the first Xbox. Lol. They didn’t have it right period. Justin. As you guys said in the video outsourcing isn’t new. I get working from home means you can’t have someone come over to see what you are doing. But outsourcing means they are there working with 343. This would have happened even if there wasn’t a pandemic. I wouldn’t compare the e3 trailer to the demo. As the demo was actual gameplay whereas the trailer was made to look amazing but as fans we should know that a trailer isn’t what the game is gonna look and play like. I think Spencer was scrambling to get Halo out no what. The demo destroyed it. So now it’s time to go back and try to salvage this. 6 years is a long time for not having a halo game. We have 3 console generations and there was 5 mainline games. Plus there are multiple spin-offs.

There's few things more eye rolling in games coverage than concern trolling games during their development cycle just to have a communal conversation and story angle that carries into the review cycles long before a game even releases. It's not just an IGN thing... all the podcasts, youtubers, forums etc all run the same "what do you even do in no man's stranding?" and "sony doesn't seem confident in days of tsushima" etc routines. It was nice to see Tina challenge it.

I don't really understand the complaints about the Xbox One UI, the last 7 apps and games you've used are right there when you login, with the most recent selected. If you're looking for something else, that isn't pinned, go to my games & apps that's right below the most recent game/app. How is that difficult?

My dude loves the switch. All i have to say is the switch contoller isnt even in the same ball park as ps4 or xbox. Idk how my guy likes a switch controller when it feels like a McDonalds kids meal toy.

I don't get all the Xbox UI hate. I much prefer it over PS4's. I like being able to totally customize with my most used apps. It drives me nuts that I can't put KZfaq and Netflix on my PS4 home screen.

When I saw the Halo Infinite gameplay my thought was "Yup, that looks like Halo." It wasn't exciting but I didn't even consider that it wasn't graphically impressive. Halo has a specific look and that's what we got. That being said I've never been interested in the franchise. It's very bland-looking.

Sorry the bit about the series x hardware development affecting halo is absolute bullshit. Series X is comparable to extreme high end PC hardware. There is absolutely ZERO chance the issues are due to a deficit in series X capabilities. The problem is the game began as and remains a game that has to run on the original VCR xbox one which is horribly underpowered in 2020.

I loved the art style of Prince of Persia, but the game itself sucked. It had that game breaking light that showed you exactly how to solve each platform puzzle and you couldn't turn it off. Too easy and defeated the whole purpose of the Prince of Persia series.

Half way through the dev cycle they changed the engine. Then towards the end MS throws two more platforms on top of the 3 they are already doing. XSX changing in specs as Halo is being developed has little impact as Halo is an Xbox One S game being ported up. This is why RT was originally going to be a post release patch, because it was never designed for RT to begin with. The largest red flag is that an Xbox One S game is the flag ship title for the entirety of their next gen platform. That, and the game play shown is more dated than the graphics. Ugly games can still be fun, but why play a game that's game play would have been considered decent on the 360 when even smaller and indie shooters, yet alone AAA, have FAR superior game play? Realize these game play demos are to show some of the best they can to get people excited and that looked, at best, awful.

Xbox one UI isn't that bad. My 6 year old gets in and out of any game he wants to with no problems whatsoever.

Let me preface by saying I game on PlayStation and Xbox and couldn’t care less about console wars, and I LOVE GAMESCOOP and look forward to it every week, but HOW THE HECK can you not find your games on the Xbox dashboard!? There is literally a giant button right below the main tile that says “my games and apps”... what do you think could possibly be in there?? Also Justin- how can you not find the game you played yesterday?? It would literally be the first tile on your recents in the middle of the page unless you started like 6 games after that. All of this just screams pro PlayStation and just not picking Xbox because it’s the popular thing to do, and you really feel it when Dameon starts talking despite being a great host. This isn’t Beyond.

Battletoads is a dumb game man.. after the 2nd time i had to do one of the mini games things, i was just out of it... I just wanted a good brawler like streets of rage 4 but with the toads .. but no.. they had to give us a frggn mobile game...

Listen I love this show but Daimen and Justin are right Halo Infinite is a mess and there have been so many signs this project has been a disaster. There have been reports of conflict within 343 and gamers can see that, stop covering Halo and Microsoft's ass!!! Xbox has been a complete mess in general since that launch of the One!!! Anyways love the show great stuff as always :)

Do they really don't know that the last games you played on xbox is the first thing you can see on the home screen or the guide? And if you press A whene you start the Xbox. You go straight into my games and apps? Where you can sort all the games how you want? I love game scoop. But its kind of sad how little they know about xbox. Whene it's their job to cover games and consoles.

From a gamer who has always played all consoles, I finally dropped Xbox this gen because I hate it’s UI THAT MUCH! My xbox one sits in its’ box ever since I recently moved to Austin TX. I didn’t even bother unpacking it. So yes, UI means a lot to me, and I’m sure others.

A few things... 1. I disagree that the Series X is what's causing development difficulty for Halo. If anything, I believe its because they're trying to make it run on current gen that's adding the extra stress on development of the game. MS should've made it a next gen only title. Plus, can we please just address the elephant in the room that no one wants to admit? 343i AINT as good as Bungie! 343i never was as good as Bungie and they're never going to BE as good as Bungie! 2. Xbox UI is terrible. 3. Sam, you have such an old man "get off my lawn" attitude towards haptic feedback/adaptive triggers. I'm very excited to get to try the Dualsense and I think it can add a lot to immersion. 4. Newsflash. The Switch IS a port machine! And even games like Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate are only sequels in name. They're basically enhanced Wii U ports with some changes/additions. Take away all the Wii U ports and the Switch library is pretty terrible. I would even consider Zelda BOTW a Wii U port.

I usually enjoy sam’s commentary but all his takes in the early part of this podcast are terrible.

Gotta love how Tina defends the hell out of 343 even though there are similar reports all over the Internet and they’ve literally never made a great game. Completely took over the entire conversation so I couldn’t hear much of Sam and Damon’s opinions.
