Switch has more buttons than Gamecube so It might still work. Smart controls are actually something Nintendo is pretty good at designing.

@@nyrisj I'm sure it'll still work fine, but the original control scheme meshes so well with Nintendo's design philosophy of having one button perform multiple functions. It seems crazy not to add the option.

I have the games and consoles and they function. So why do I need this? I agree. I'm mostly indifferent and fine that I don't have to buy it.

So I was personally disappointed because I was hoping they would totally remake 64 almost how they did spyro or crash. Its 24 years old and really needs a graphic overhaul. And with sunshine there is a youtuber who made a great video of what they should do in a sunshine remake (Nin10doland). One of the things I liked the most in his video was the idea of remaking the music and he gave some samples i thought were awesome sounded the same but new. (Qumu-ricco harbor) I guess we will have to wait and see what happens for the 50th anniversary lol.

It's part of why I'm hesitating over getting the collection. That and I feel like they may re-release it with Galaxy 2 included. Bare minimum effort indeed.

I'm kinda confused by your comment. For one, how was this hyped in anyway? I had no idea this was coming, and I couldn't have been the only one, and a cursory look at news articles relating to a 35th anniversary don't reveal anything past 3 days ago (the day of the direct). Second, 35 years is a completely arbitrary number to celebrate anything for. It's not a 10th, 50th or 100th anniversary of Mario, just the 35th. Not much reason to expect amazing effort from Nintendo. Now do I think leaving galaxy 2 out was kinda arbitrary and dumb especially considering how easy it should have been after porting Galaxy 1? Sure, but maybe they have separate plans for it or maybe they couldn't fit it all on one cartridge. Hell, maybe they just wanted to celebrate one 3D game for each of Nintendo's consoles over the past 20 years. Who knows. I'm not trying to defend Nintendo or say you can't be disappointed, I am just more confused as to why you expected more from a 35th anniversary of anything, let alone Mario.

@@feckert7301 Well rumors of a 3d mario collection started a few months ago and it was trending on a lot of places. Many people were talking and speculating about it. So i think thats on you for not hearing about it. You can find a lot of youtube videos talking about them. Just saw one from june. And thus it gets hyped. Mostly because people thought this was going to be the thing that saved nintendo this fall/winter. Because you know, they basically have nothing in the next half a year. And they havent really revealed anything this summer other then a pikman port. You know, we can be a fan of Nintendo and be dissapointed. Its just a frustrating company sometimes. This collection is low effort at best.

Fair enough. Never said you couldn't be disappointed. As a matter of fact I explicitly stated as much in my last comment. I seemed to have missed any rumor relating to a 3D mario game but after looking it up, sure enough there was already talk about it as far back as June. I still think you were probably expecting way too much from a rumor about a 3D mario collection, but I have gotten overly hyped over nothing much myself on a few occasions only to be disappointed. Either way, my confusion over how people were somehow expecting more from this has been cleared.

Me too. I think gamers whine too much these days. I am looking forward to play all three of these games again on my Switch.

@@squiddly007 I see a lot of people comparing this to the remakes of Crash and Spyro. Those are great remakes for sure and a value at $40, but this Mario collection really doesn't need to be improved upon except maybe visually. All the games in it are completely playable. The original Crash and Spyro games are a pain to play without the new improvements from the remakes.

It's certainly cheaper than trying to search out the consoles and games to play the originals.

@@idakev buying just mario 64 is usually 35 dollars, and sunshines 35-40 right now. Its like getting galaxy for free. Granted your nor getting to play the o.g. versions, which sucks, but you end up saving 15-20 dollars on the games. Also, remasters and HD updates suck, leave games how they came out. I would always rather play the first version of something. I still hook up my N64 to play Ocarina despite having it on Cube and 3ds. Ill still hook up my 64, Cube and wii to play these games to, but for a normal gamer getting these in a modern bundle makes it super easy to play.

Sane Trilogy, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled,, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2, Shadow Of The Colossus, Resident Evil 1, Destroy All Humans, Yakuza Kiwami, Spyro Reignited, The Last Of Us Remastered, etc were all better versions of the original games. That's not even including the ones that made interesting big changes like Resident Evil 2. "Granted your nor getting to play the o.g. versions, which sucks," WTF? All they've done is upped the resolution, let you play 64 in wide-screen and let you play Galaxy without motion controls. That's lazy but it's still better than playing the originals.

@@idakev I have to disagree. I always want to play the game how it was first played. I still hook up my NES to play Super Mario despite it being on so many other things. I always play the O.G. the only remasters I mess with are the ones that are way different. RE2 and FF7 Remake.

@@Spooky-XVX You're entitled to your opinion but you're not really explaining it. *Remasters/remakes are not ALWAYS better or worse* - it depends. Tons of remasters and remakes are just improved versions of the originals as I pointed out. Some aren't whether it be due to poor stylistic choices and/or it just being a bad port (e.g. Return to Arkham). The only thing I would maybe agree with is wanting to use the same controller that you originally played a game with and that it was designed for. That's irrelevant for most 3D games though.

There's constantly new Nintendo fans that have never played the old games. My guess is that's just as important to them.

@@faceofbear8024 it's just seems like every console gen Nintendo just try's to resell us the same stuff over and over. Instead of putting the effort into constantly porting these titles, I'd like to see NEW ideas and IPs. Or a Nintendo subscription platform (like game pass or psnow) where we can play the classics without being asked to rebuy and put the community in ONE place.

@@mattgrundy27 Nintendo definitely needs new IP. It's a shame they're relying so heavily on remasters when they're in such a strong position. If they were struggling it would make more sense.

@@abdulm2609 that's what I dont get. They have plenty of cash in the coffers. They know that Mario and Pokemon are guaranteed money makers whenever they're in a pinch. So why not take more chances? I'd even be on with new installments in dormant franchises. Pilotwings FZero Star fox (without gimmicky controls) Rouge Squadron Mario Galaxy 3 Mario Rpg 2 I could go on and on....

They won't stop because there are thousands of new gamers every single year who have not played those games. They sell well every time too. That said they do still make new games and IP's. 2020 is just one year and we can't get all the games we want in 1 year. These quality games take time to make and constantly have setbacks for various reasons. Just be patient.

The Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 remake has better gameplay than the originals. Not a great example.

@@idakev It has a couple mechanics added from 3 and 4 and a really good challenge system. I wouldn't describe it as better gameplay. The core experience is unchanged. I actually made the original comment before I played it so I was mistaken. My opinion still remains. It actually has a few massively annoying features/flaws that I wish I could get rid of.

I was getting Samsung phone literally every 5 minutes and the only reason I came to comments was to see why the ads were SO frequent on this one.
