I am on my 2nd playthrough of the Legendary edition. This time I am evil D!ckhead Shepard. Love this character so much. Very underrated character. He is so mean and it is great. Best moment is when Grunt was in the pod and they were telling Sheppard he shouldn't open it because it could endanger the ship. Evil Shepard says, "If anything goes wrong. I will just have EDI open the port Cargo hold doors and flush him into space" Miranda responds with, "What about the crew who is in there? They will be flushed out as well". The funny part is the evil choice is "REPLACEABLE". You pick that and Shepard says, "EDI? How many crewmembers do we have on board?" EDI responds, "There are currently 24 active crew member on board, Shepard". *Shepard didn't respond with words. He sat there with his arms folded and an evil grin on his face that pretty much said, "See? No big loss"

Mass effect 1 is a fine game, for it's time it was even very good, so I disagree when Tina says "it was not a good game." But yeah ME2 is so leaps and bounds better, it is definitely the best/most improved upon game sequel of all time. Cuts away all the stuff that needed to be cut (ammo, crappy looking custom armor, the Mako, exploring boring planets, elevators, duplicate warehouses) while improving on everything that remains (better minigames, better combat, better character progression and differentiation, better music, better story, better characters, better locations, better story/writing, better graphics, better paragon system).

OMG they said skip ME1. Don’t get me wrong I understand where they’re coming from but if you can play the first game in this series you should. The best way to describe it is picture having access to an old Victorian home great foundation great visuals but everything inside needs to be gutted. That’s what you get from the first game of the series video gaming no matter whether you prefer a more fast paced RPG shooter like the latter in the series or if you prefer a slower paced RPG shooter. The first game in the series has systems built into it I mean that if the game was remade from the ground up simply would not be there. They were revolutionary at the time but today they are something we don’t need anymore. No I can speak as someone who started with the second game in the series over a decade ago and I went back and played the first game in the series once it was released on a Sony platform years later. I can tell you you need to play that first game just for the story. Few games if any tell you such a rich story few games if any build such a rich universe I can honestly say I don’t think that’s happened before and I don’t think it’s been done well since. To be honest I would even argue they should’ve re-made the first game in the series. The story was just that good to where they could’ve drawn in more people to the series if they had just remade that one game. In fact they could’ve remade the first game in the series and built-in multiplayer similar to the third game in the series. How many people don’t think about this but go look at the multiplayer numbers for the third game in the series you will notice that the game remains at the top of the charts because people kept playing the multiplayer. Updates were free but we would purchase loot chests by the bundle at times. We didn’t do it because we felt pressured to it was literally fun to do so. Yes you could play and earn all the gear you want it without spending a dime and I did but it was no problem to drop five dollars a weekend in hopes of getting an update to my favorite gun or a new gun to test out and that would totally change my gameplay. I just don’t know how to describe that multiplayer because it was that good. It was so good they actually decided to include multiplayer in dragon age inquisition.

For Elder Scrolls VI, pre production in 2018 and early design phases in 2021 feels the exact same to me so I think it is definitely a bit of a disappointment. I still don't expect it any time soon, but 'early design phase' seems like the game stalled a bit. Also, I disagree 100% with the idea that Bethesda doesn't need to 'milk the dragon' as the panel is saying here. 100% that is what they should be doing right now. I played Skyrim for hundreds of hours nearly ten years ago and I have not played it since. If I could get an up rezzed Oblivion I would definitely be all over that.

I get that Xbox has been lacking in first party games and studios, but I think it’s ignorant to say that they were just buying to buy. Most of their studios that they acquired all had close working relationships with MS already, just like how you guys are comparing with Sony and how smart they are with their buys. They were smart buys as well. Even on the tech side with ID tech. Such media bias on how things are portrayed. It’s getting annoying. Sony bought these studios in response to MS’s acquisitions.

What Tina was praising Sony on and their plan "For their studios to collaborate and work together. And share tech bla bla bla". She was talking like Sony has this great idea. When Phil Spencer has been saying the same exact thing for the past 3 years with their studio acquisitions. It boggles my mind how IGN praises Sony on these great ideas when Microsoft and Phil Spencer has been talking about and implementing them for years. And what is really weird is after the Microsoft/Bethesda round table 3 months ago where Phil Spencer said the exact same thing Herman Hurst said yesterday. Game Scoop didn't even mention the Round table event. In that event he talked about MS studios collaborating and sharing and working together. He directly mentioned how cool it would be to see a Halo project using Id Tech engine. Yesterday on Podcast Beyond. They spoke about Microsoft just bought Bethesda strictly out of money and said and I quote, "Housemarque has had a relationship with Sony so it makes sense. Nobody saw the Microsoft buying Bethesda thing coming because they are not known as having a close relationship".. IGN is a joke at this point.

The concept of PT has been done 10 times over since PT. Especially in VR. It can't be done anymore as the genre was flooded. Paranormal Activity, Excorcist VR, Resident Evil 7, Layers of Fear. There is no Ammo in Mass Effect. Those are heat sinks to collect the heat so the weapon does not overheat like they did in 1. Invented while Shepard was dead. Not invented. Mass marketed. Shepard had knowledge of them. But they were not readily available before his death/rebirth The weapons according to the lore is a block of metal that shaves off a tiny piece with each trigger pull and sends the piece of metal flying at a ridiculously high speed that a the tiniest piece of metal will hit with so much kinetic energy it shreds targets. The block of metal can take thousands of trigger pulls to deplete making reloading a monthly and in some cases a yearly thing. Read the Codex. So mo much history in Mass Effect it is ridiculous.

PSN active monthly users: 109 million XBL active monthly users: 106 million *Sony knows the PC market has the most users of all the platforms. In an interview in late 2019. Todd Howard said the art team has or is about to move on and was getting started building assets for Elder Scrolls 6. Now in translation. That could just mean they were beginning updating the Creation Engine and its suite of tools for the art style being used. Or it could mean they were creating actual assets and/or rough models for the game. Since that interview. The world had a crisis. So I would think a lot has changed since then and some projects hit roadblocks. But the art team is the very first step along with the writers coming up with story. The actual development team building the world using the created assets is still on Starfield. So my guess is ES6 is 2024-25 range. 5 years is not happening. The only time a developer takes 5 years or more to develop a game is if they overhaul the entire game engine which I am pretty sure they did already with Starfield *PHOTOGRAMMETRY ... r is important

I played Mass Effect 2 a while ago (because Mass Effect 1 was not available on Playstation) and didn't like it. Too much dialogue, not enough action. I get why people like them, but to me it just felt like a chore - I kept playing the game waiting to get to a "good part" where I'll start having fun and that never happened.

The Elusive Man was nowhere near the villain in Mass Effect 2. He was only ambitious and making sure Humanity has equal footing in the Galaxy. If it wasn't for the Elusive Man. The races of the galaxy would have done nothing to stop the Reapers. He was a hero up until he got himself indoctrinated which happened in the 6 months between 2 and 3. And it was likely because he visited the Collector base after Shepard wiped it. The Elusive Man was never a villain. Just questionable in his methods. And he was not indoctrinated in 2. *Anybody would says he was a villain in 2 is a gamer fraud.

Returnal loved by everyone? The thing is buggy as hell. Players play for hours and loose all progress and crashes the console. Sounds very enjoyable and not frustrating at all. Who said it's AAA?

lol definitely not loved by everyone… I thought everyone knew it was pretty divisive. I watched gameplay of it and I have 0 interest in it, even if it was $5

@@BigBossBeta Maybe one day when it's not $70 - don't crash after 3 hours of gameplay & the PS5 is fully completed - SSD expansion working.

Why would you give spoilers from Mass Effect?

I would have been satisfied with the Mass Effect 3 ending if there was no choice at all. Destroy ending. Shepard takes a breath after the credits. This ending should be Canon. Even EDI could be rebuilt. I would have been happy with just that 1 ending. Even though the entirety of the game was about choice. The ending did not have to be in my opinion. If Mass Effect 4 is a direct continuation of 3. Which I hope it is. Bioware has their work cut out for them. There are ways to do each ending. Have Shepard come back. The Starchild said it. Synthesis. Many cycles tried it but could never get it to work. So they could just play it off as Synthesis didn't work. And Shepard's data core is sitting on the Citadel to be cybernetically implanted in a Shepard clone. They could do the destroy ending where Shepard survived as seen after the credits. They could do the control ending where Shepard controls the Reapers. He keeps all of his memories and is aware of who he is as was said by the Star Child and he could be transported to a Cybernetic clone like EDI (and synthesis) Or just the "Do nothing" ending and have the races beat the Reapers in the war without the use of the Catalyst *So there are many ways to bring Shepard back. But Bioware screwed the pooch with the multiple endings. This is why they made Andromeda. Because they knew they screwed up the story of the Milky Way with the multiple endings so they needed to go somewhere those endings didn't affect it.

This is the best episode of Game Scoop I've heard in the last 3+ years. Tina, you did a fantastic job hosting! You were well prepared with your agenda and sources. You had a direction for the show and kept it on track. It was focused, informative, and moved along in a way that respected the listener's time. Justin Davis is always insightful and well spoken. Kat Bailey should be on every week. Her perspectives are interesting and articulate. The flow of the podcast allowed for intriguing discussion and occasional laughs without the fluff of lame humor and conversations that should take place outside of a podcast. The organization, direction, content, and pace of this podcast were superb. Keep up the good work Tina, I hope you get your own podcast someday. Thank you, Justin and Kat, for your articulated thoughts and opinions.

Completely agree with Tina. Couldn’t get through the original Mass Effect again. Might set up the story really well but the gameplay is terrible in my opinion. 2 improved on almost everything 1 did.
