That makes sense. I think that the interesting thing about Metal Gear V's ending is that you can make it how you want to be and it would still make sense to you.

It depens on how you see the motivations of each mayor player on the entire Metal Gear saga, as you may know all of the events on the saga are basically fueled by The Boss's will and it's interpretation, everyone had there own view, Big Boss had one, Ocelot, Zero and even the Patriots had one, for all of them "the end justifies the means" because all of them though that they were doing what The Boss woud do to "unify" the World and ensure that soldiers have allways a place to be, i mean every one got it wrong but still they were fighting for what they though it was the "right" thing to do, im pretty sure Big Boss would give his own life if it meant that "The Boss's Will" becomes reality, i actually think that Big Boss never care about himself after The Boss's death. thats whats i love about this series it makes you question the morals of "right" and "wrong".

I don't think venom liked big boss after finding out in mgsv. I believe he starts building up outer heaven as a means to destroy big boss and big boss upon finding this out (or by seeing venom was becoming too powerful than he had intended) sends in solid snake. most people will say "he was meant to fail" but you can't forget the fact that he is a genetic clone of big boss and thus could fight effectively regardless of the the time he spent in the field. And I fell like that the only reason for why solid snake won against venom snake is plot armour because, for example, venom's level 3 stun arm can bring down lightning from the fucking sky.

I believe many players didn't realize how much information these cassettes had. I agree with everything you said but I think the gameplay blew this out of proportion. It's not a cinematic game and that alone is a reason many players didn't even try to enjoy the game for it's better aspects.

AgeofJP There were actually a lot of cut scenes in TPP as well. Not quite as much as MGS4, but certainly rivals earlier titles. Cut scenes just weren't as impactful, outside of some Chapter 2 stuff possibly. Gameplay, atmosphere were top notch. Just needed better boss battles. :(

Fun fact: Kojima actually got a bit stern with Troy Baker, Ocelot's voice actor, whenever his mannerisms got too close to the previous voice actors, Patrick Zimmerman and Josh Keaton, so I'm sure Kojima had this all planned out.

That doesn' t mean that there is an ending, since the final chapter was painfully never fully developed and we will never officially know what happened to the Sahelanthropus and Psycho Mantis. This is not an ending, good thing it is a canon Kojima homage to the player and all, but it does not conclude the narration in any manner.

Mgs5 is not the ending! It takes place way before mgs mgs2 msg3 and mgs4

There are a few loose ends that could be tied up, even though Kojima did his best to tie everything together in MGS4. There's enough evidence in MGS that Ocelot and Gray Fox are familiar with one another but Ocelot doesn't appear in MG or MG2. There are 11 years between MGSV and MG, where a Gray Fox story could easily be set to show how his legend is built, as all we have is a small part in Portable Ops and a 25 year gap from the setting of that to MG. During which we know little other than that he was a legendary soldier and that he killed Naomi's parents and adopted her as his sister (I smell a combination of a Shining Lights like guilt mission combined with or followed by an MGS2 Emma-like escort mission with childhood Naomi) EVA is a central character in MGS3, then is nowhere to be found until MGS4 which is half a century later. How is Big Boss, who has grown disillusioned with the US after MGS3 and run not one but THREE (in the eyes of the world as one of them is Venom of course) nuclear-capable PMCs in the 70s and 80s, reintegrated into FOX-HOUND to lead the mission against his own doppelganger in 1995? There are some odd timeline anomalies regarding some other figures from the series like Para-Medic and Sigint/Donald Anderson, and also the possibility seeing as the series is full of fanservice to give fleshed out origin stories to some of the forgotten characters from MG/MG2 like Dr Madnar and Holly White, or those MGS villains not yet explained like Sniper Wolf or Vulcan Raven, seeing as they've gone back to the well on Liquid, Ocelot and now Mantis repeatedly. Decoy Octopus appearing and reappearing could be fun. But the timeline is as done as it will be. Kojima already had franchise fatigue by 4, that's why he tried to tie up every loose end, and so even if Sony and Kojima acquire the rights to the name and timeline, if we do get any further games of this kind, it's going to be a complete disconnect for the timeline, like playing as The Boss in the 1930s or something.

@matalik also the medic wasn't even an idea when Kojima made mgs3. It was a retcon he came up with to solve the plothole of mg1 where Big Boss dies and somehow came back for mg2: solid snake. So I see it that mgs3 did indeed happen. That the ocelot time paradox Zero (not Campbell) says is because ocelot is a key part of the mgs world, and killing him would mean no mgs1, mgs2 or mgs4. The upcoming mgs3 delta though is perfect for being the medics view on how operation snake eater happened. We could even get to see skullface again as he was cleaning up after naked snake, but was also there to ensure the mission would be accomplished. I'd love for the remake to end with Venom waking up from his coma. After Big Boss salutes the bosses grave you just hear "V has come to" so like in mgsv where we thought we were playing as Big Boss, but the ending told us we were only his phantom. The remake would also be a twist. Making us think we were playing as naked snake in 1964, but when we hear "V has come to" we'd know that it was Venoms mind recollecting the events of mgs3. That it was a part of ocelot putting all of Big Bosses memories, missions, thoughts, and techniques in V's head through powerful hynogosia. Just my little idea how they could make delta, and still have it be a perfect remake, but with its own twist that it's Venoms new implanted memories of Big Boss & how he recalls it all happened. That way it would be the same game, but with something new at the very end so that even veterans of metal gear solid would have a new part of the story that they weren't expecting.

Because Kojima thinks that nature vs nurture is mostly nurture. I.e. anyone would be the same as another person given they had the same upbringing and experience. So when ocelot talks about how he brainwashed venom snake into believing he was big boss, he purposely mentions that he has recollection of all of big boss’s experiences and memories from his past missions. This was all induced hypnotically but still shaped the personality. Whatever is different about venom is all based on his personality. The original big boss was more of a show off and could speak 6 languages and had endless one liners. Venom is a more calm and mission focused version.

after playing the game more than 80h I literally forgot that I created a character in the first minutes...the twist itself was great I think. But if you instantly "knew" this from this awkward little detail (which was explained to be the creation of your MGO avatar) then it's your fucking fault for being so pretentious. You didn't play to experience the game, you only played to see what expectations the game would fullfill. I admit it was hinted too obvious (if MGO would have released with the game it may wouldn't have been so bad) but I was curious about this moment too but I didn't jump to the furthest conclusion I could find and stuck with it. I even remember thinking "could it be...", but this was never hinted again in the game.

Yeah I'm sorry I admit I'm usually very salty and defensive on MGSV...because I honestly think the game gets too much shit on youtube. This is a video which was supposed to be pro-mgsV and still there seem to be almost no possitive comments about the game. And that's too harsh for a game that I personally liked more than Witcher 3 or any other game that year. I get most of the critique (yours too) but I've experienced all these things too and not one of them ruined my fun with this game. All these aspects that were less good than in previous MGS games were still not bad compared to most other games and the aspects that were great are usually left out. I enjoyed the game because of my mindset and I believe it's the same reason many people hate the game. If MGS3 was a delicious steak, I see MGSV as a giant banquet where only the steaks aren't that good...and I feel everyone else bought that banquet just to eat steak and completely ignored even the taste of the other dishes it offers. But yeah, sorry for that...about the part with the hint I agree I was too defensive, and I also agree you're absolutely right. I just remembered when a friend of mine played the game he asked me if you play as someone else than Big Boss (because of the character creation) and I actually told him something "that's just the MGO character. Kojima likes to implement such things into the narrative". Makes my last comment wrong in almost every way

Nah, it's cool, man. I have debates with friends all the time. I have honest critiques of MGSV and I wish many things were done differently, but for God's sake I played the game through to completion on both PS3 AND PS4! I've played the game for nearly 200 hours, combined. That obviously says something about how smooth and addicting the gameplay is. On top of that, I think it's fairly reasonable to say the stress Kojima and his team were under throughout the creation of the game (seemingly the fault of Konami's draconian business practices) put a sizable dent in the finished product. The fact that the game is as good as it is is truly a testament to Kojima and his team's abilities and vision.
