This is gardening for me at its most zen. No music, no talking , no thoughts…. Simply the physical effort, the scent of the earth and plants, birds in the trees, my cats keeping me company and the utter, utter peace it all brings me.

I've been watching your videos for awhile now. This is my first post. You've given me so much gardening inspiration. You have no idea. For years I've been filling my garden with annuals (love colour). This year, thanks to you, I have started planting perennials and I have really enjoyed doing it. I can see your love for hydrangeas ... it's clear! Your love for them is contagious. I've planted 4 hydrangeas on my property this past year and I can't wait to see how they do. I'll keep my eye on your new fire light raised flower bed next Spring to see how they do and into the summer months. Thank you so much for posting all of these GREAT videos. I especially loved this video (hence why I am posting) because you tackled a few jobs that could have easily just gone by the way side. I'm so glad you took care of your little chickens. You just set your flowers in the pot. You don’t make a hole for them. You don’t add no soil in the pots. It’s like you just press them in. Love watching you. Your son is precious.

I love that you planted the hydrangeas in the circle area. They will be gorgeous and can't wait to see what else you will add! I love your chicken coop...it is so cute! The grouping of flowers and plants in the pots and baskets are beautiful! You definitely have a God given gift of putting plants/flowers together!

I’ve found when confronted with a garden problem the solution usually makes the garden far more interesting. I like the slab in front of the chicken coup run much more than just gravel. It looked nice before but now it’s got more character. Really enjoying your videos!

Encircle your hydrangeas with your favorite...boxwood!! That is becoming my favorite look as well💕 Leave room in front of the boxwoods for annuals!

Wow what a great coffee with Laura today!! So much to see and get done and goodness you are strong! When I saw you carry that large rock over to place I was impressed. Best way to stay in shape isn't it all the bending, digging, lifting, and pulling keeps the limbs and the heart going strong. It is so fun to watch you plant things even if it is getting colder and most people aren't thinking of doing that. I am hoping to get out playground in better shape next spring so that we will be able to do some of this but the wheels turn slowly sometimes when you have to wait for the money and the help from the grounds maintenance crew at the college where I work. Still I am hopeful and have lists of things I want to do and back up in the form of videos from you to help my cause so thank you so much!!!

Wow Laura, everything is looking so beautiful, colorful and fallish. Great job on the pavers by the chicken coop doorway. So glad the girls are safe. Love seeing Cheddar, he is an adorable kitty. Loved the little bit of Benjamin, he really loves his little blanket animal, so cute he carries it everywhere. You are such a hard worker, now I need to get off my butt and go outside and bag up all the leaves I raked up yesterday. I have got so many ideas for my yard next year and I have you to thank for them, I will be making a sketch of the yard and the flower beds and what I want them to look like, hopefully I will be getting a new deck on the front of my little house that is covered and enclosed, that gives me so many more options and decor ideas as well. For the circle bed, I think three dwarf hinoki cypress would be great for winter interest, planted in that top layer amongst the hydrangeas. Maybe some daylilies, coreopsis or lavender down below...of course a ton of tulips would look amazing there in the spring...

Hydrangeas in the circle bed - brilliant! The big stepping stone looks like you bought it for the spot. I like the contrast in color! I’m glad your chickens are now safe! 😀. All of my neighbor’s chickens were recently killed by a dog that got away from its owner! So sad! They had just raised some gorgeous fancy ones from chicks that lay blue eggs to add to the others they had. Now they have to start over. 😭

Now the digging critters are foiled! I kept saying use hardware cloth about a foot out from the fence and about 6-8 inches deep. LOL And there you went and did it! I don't mind the skunks passing thru, but the ones that try to stay - Nope not in my area! Of course, part of the reason we have been seeing more is that they are losing habitat. I love those pansies! Wonderful color.
