i have got one of these waiting for my subaru forester gt = just slowly getting all my bits for the up grade - 565 cc injectors ! thanks for the look , i have a brand new exhaust housing - i brought a subaru type and just a 3 inch inlet hose ! to tie it up .

I want to upgrade my longitudal 1.8t turbo. bW k03 stock. Most people go Garret gt28 or gt3071r but I really like the quality of my current Borg and Warner unit. Car has been chipped making 19psi for 110k miles, been on the car for 148k miles total. Still going strong breaking the tires loose in 2nd gear. No noise, fins look good. Wastegate still seals well, no shaft play or oil. Borg and Warner makes good shit imo.

Borg Warner do make good gear. Lot of guys in the US Miata community are moving to them with great results.

How did you come to the decision about the GTX, Brendan? I was set on one until it was recommended that the Gen 1 version was adequate given the improved mass flow wasn't an issue on pump fuel limited HP, and the improved response was marginal given the 'lag free' characteristics of the GT2860R. Still not sure whether I should have gone GTX......

As I'm not a turbo aficionado, I opted for a setup I was more familiar with and that would suit the manifold on the car. I wanted something that would be reliable for a long time and decided to invest money in good parts now.

Does it have the big bastard circlip or snap ring as some call it? I had trouble with mine and I found long handle offset needle nose pliers worked a treat to get the prick of a thing off so I could clock the turbo.

Surprised you didn't consider the GT2871R. Currently recommended by Garrett for built motors in our application. Spools like no tomorrow !!!!

Just checked the website you mentioned and theyre selling it for 2,120. Any reason why you might think there was a 300 dollar price hike? Or did you just get a real good deal?

And if i put this turbo to 2.9 4cyl tdi engine with ihi rhf5 turbo from factory Will it be great decision to get better performance?? Thanks for the reply

In my opinion, this turbo is for 1.5L, 1.6L and 1.8L engines.

This new one is much more efficient and newer technology and capable of much more than the OEM S14 turbo from 20 years ago.

All gtx series use ball bearing so does this turbo too??

I'm not a turbocharger aficionado but as I understand, at my target levels the G25 options would be fairly similar in spool and performance, but at a higher price tag. I think if I was targeting closer to 450hp then the GTX2860R would've been less ideal.
