You lose hair because of autophagy. Extreme fasting, like a the first three months of your sleeve causes it. But it's a good thing! Autophagy eats inflammation, cancer cells, dead cells, detritis, plaque , bacteria, etc. Your hair thins because your body is using energy somewhere else rather than grow hair. When you start taking in more calories it starts growing back. So yeah! ❤

I had the same procedure done last year May 1st of 2019 will be 2yrs. I have lost 115 since them. I just had the skin removal done and so excited to see what the next step is for me. I did this for me. Great job and don't listen to the negative people.

I know you probably already know this but your eyes, complexion and smile are just so beautiful, overweight or not. Your eyes remind me of my son’s too. He always gets compliments on his eyes and it makes his sister jealous lol

U not being selfish for getting surgery and taking a risk of dying from complications. In reality you trying to extend your life so can be there for your family. If u kept going on the path u was on the consequences could be u not waking up in the morning or having a heart attack at a young age. Ive got a consultation dec 12th for bariatric sleeve surgery and i hope to have good luck too.

There's a bariatric vitamin on Amazon that is one pill with everything you'll need in it. You'll take 2 in morning and 2 at night. May be easier than taking multiple pills.

Hello Erin! I am new to following you, I am really enjoying your channel and I just love your spirit! I can see God’s light in you. Thank you for being so transparent and real about your struggles and your journey! This is something I’ve been considering for the last two years, I have finally decided I think this is for me!! I am curious though, have you ever tried the vitamins that come in the firm of a patch? I know this video is older, maybe you’ve updated or changed from pills to patches since then, just curious!!!

Hi Melissa, I want to tell you that that you better think one and a hundred times before to go through a surgery of that kind, let me tell you that most of the time the problem with the overweight is not for what you eat, but it has a root and related to the thiroid, so you could take a test of your thiroid, but these not always revel the thrut, but you can check the temperature of your body, because a temperature out of the normal should indicate a problem with the thiroid, I urge you and all those sisters and brothers who are thinking on a gastric bypass surgery, to watch the videos of those who went through a bariatric surgery, and what they are saying if they knew the disgusting side effects after the surgery, so please investigate exhaustively, and if after that you want to go through it , go ahead dear.

My Level 10 Life I had my gastric sleeve surgery December 2017 & It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I am 60 yrs. old the mother of 5 & the grandmother of 21. My family was a huge support for me. At the time of my surgery I had already lost 23 lbs and since my surgery I have lost 56 lbs. since my surgery so all total I am 79 lbs. down. I am the type of person who doesn’t care what you think I have to do what works for me & my goal is to become healthy & do what my surgeon tells me to do.

I had gall bladder surgery typically it happens with rapid weight loss. I lost 90lbs on my own in 11 months and there it went lol. Sadly I put 105lbs back on in 9 years. signed up for the sleeve. Thankfully this time I don't have a gall bladder this time around.

I am 6 days away from my surgery day. I am watching all your videos today and I am greatly encouraged. I do really wanna have this surgery but I do worry about what could go wrong... I also have a husband and 2 small children (5 years old and a 6 month old) which makes me very concerned about smh going wrong. I got my vgs on march 13, 2023 and got a thrombosis on my portal vein.I was diabetic and was hyper tense but everything was controlled now I ‘m in Coumadin I don’t. Know for how long. It was a complete lifestyle change. Vitamins, sleep, less processed foods, more Whole Foods. I was able to ween off meds after awhile

Long term disease from obesity is real and I think those complication's can continue as a human ages. I who have 'issues" hormonal shiteshorms need to work on my issues even after 6 years out of WLS as the food beast lives for sure the as more years your out of WLS. Keep fighting, you look great.

Hi Erin, I am considering the gastric sleeve, and am scared, and have questions, but my main fear is that once Ive had the surgery that I wont be able to enjoy eating food anymore. I have always been a foodie, love trying new things, new tastes and new cultures. Will this limit my overall enjoyment of food, cooking, tasting and trying new things? It is a curse now in that food no longer is an enjoyment anymore? It would be great to be thin, but then to replace those insecurities with constant acid reflux or fear about foods causing me problems would be a torture in itself... I have maintained the same weight for ten years so I dont have a problem overeating...im just comfortably stuck at an unhealthy weight haha. Not sure what to do. Ive been thinking about the sleeve for the last ten years, and now I have the money. What do I do...please advise. (big hugs from one German girl to another!)

I am 3 1/2 hrs out from my sleeve and have only a few complications. I have diarrhea.loose still majority of the time, I usually vomit 2-4 times a month and not related to food, and lately I have iron deficiency anemia. What sucks the most is I only lost 50 lbs and have gained 30 back. 😔

I subscribe to Consumer Lab. They are similar to Consumer Reports, but mostly for Supplements. They do their own research, but also include other research studies. At the end of all their data, they list what they recommend, what they don’t, & their top picks. I find it very helpful to choose supplements, right down to chocolate & coffee. Also, I learned this from my Primary Doctor years ago, that I think would be especially helpful after Bariatric Surgery. Drop supplements that you put under your tongue, is the fastest, most Bioavailable. DISCLAIMER: I am no Doctor. But, from what I have learned, putting the liquid drops under your tongue, the supplements are absorbed, within a couple minutes, & never make it to your stomach, where the acids etc. can break it down so that you get little to no benefit from it. I just mention this because you mentioned Gummy Vitamins for hair loss, which I believe are B vitamins, Collagen, Biotin, & again not sure, but I think can also include Zinc & Vitamin D. I believe most, if not all of them come in the sublingual form. Yes, they are individual, not several vitamins in one usually, but at least you know they are actually making it into your system. I do have 1 sublingual that is Zinc with Vitamin D3. So some, if they need the other to work, may come with an extra vitamin. By all means do your own research. I just wanted to put this out there, so that it’s something you all can look into for yourself, or run past your Primary or Dietitian.

I am 5'3 and weigh 235 pounds. My doctor asked me if I would be willing to have weight loss surgery because I am now pre diabetic and I have pcos. I have been thinking about it but I am super scared of any kind of surgery. I don't know what to do :(

I am planning my surgery in March . But doctor said for 14 days post surgery you need to be on blood thinners . I have not heard this before . I am not sure I want to inject myself for 2 weeks . I would change my doc. But I want to be sure cause those blood thinners are expensive and painful . Anyone can help me

It’s really, really not that bad. They’re tiny injections and the needle is extremely small. I don’t even feel it when I do it.

My sister actually had the gastric sleeve be approved as a medical necessity by insurance. It greatly reduced her migraines. She claims it made a world of difference. .

As far as I know (a dietician told me) your stomach cannot dissolve capsules after a sleeve or bypass surgery. There is not enough gastric acid left to do do so. All the vitamins in those capsules just pass your body without being absorbed.

Interesting, I always wonder if the surgeon takes away enough of the stomach. Is it 70%, 75%, or 80%? To make sure the hunger hormone gherlin(not sure if that's how it's spelled), but the doctor is supposed to remove that hormone for optimal results.

Funny, I get concerned for the opposite...that they take too much out. If you can’t get enough calories in daily, then your metabolism crashes...that’s why a lot of people gain weight back. If I get this surgery I might sip on a weight gain shake throughout the day. I wouldn’t want my calories to dip below 1000-1200. Slow weight loss is fine with me

Can anyone here, that has had this surgery, PLEASE 🙏 kindly tell me how long does the surgery take and also, those that have had this surgery, have you loss alot of hair. In other words is this a definite side effect?

If you search bariatric surgery in groups on FB, add a few of the groups and search the term "hairloss" on the main group page. You will see numerous posts & comments about those who have had it and those who havent. It normally happens around 4 mths, but a lot of people say it grows back. I have PCOS, so my hair has been falling out in handfuls for years. I'm at 10 weeks out from a VSG and have had nothing but problems ever since, hairloss not being one of them. Everyone is different, so complications dont happen to everyone. I have gout really bad for the past 1 1/2 mths. None of the medications or supplements are working to ease the 24/7 intense pain. I also drink plenty of water. It's a common complication for those that had gout prior. It's so bad now, that I am on crutches and there have been days that I cant put ANY weight on my feet, so I literally have to crawl to the bathroom & drag myself to the kitchen, just to get ice packs multiple times a day. I get maybe 1-2 hrs of sleep because the pain & swelling is extreme. After VSG, you cant take certain medications, steroids or NSAIDS and I've been to the ER 3x with no real help. Again, this is not normal for everyone. I am also having a lot of trouble eating. You can never eat bread again, rice or much noodles. I mainly eat clear soups, but they do have soft noodles in them. I basically live off of Progresso soups, yogurt, SF popsicles...so my weightloss is mostly from starvation. I've lost 50 lbs in 11 weeks, 9 weeks since surgery. Please research it well...while I do enjoy wearing smaller clothes and losing weight, had I known about gout and the pain I'm in daily to be a common complication or that I'm only able to keep down a few spoonfuls of real food, I wouldnt have had the surgery.

@@lorenc9930 Hi! I'm so sorry that your going through all this. I did hear different stories here on KZfaq that ppl are having different issues post up but not Gout. I'm definitely bringing this side effect to my Dr bc at this point is good to know if he's had any patient's with that side effect. I thank you so, so much for your time in answering me. I'm getting mini gastric bypass surgery in 7 weeks...I'm nervous as but I need it done...I'm nearly 37 and my weight has damaged my entire life... up down up up up up every single day it's on my mind...its absolutely torture

Arlette Jones, same! Are you planning on telling anyone? I'm leaning towards not, because my family has an inability to keep secrets and there are many judgy ones. I worry about not having the support. At the same time do not want to feel shamed for my choice. It's a tough call and nerve racking!

Hello! My name is Maribel Guzman can you please tell me all of the vitamins that you take? I am 50 years old and I am having surgery on 12-11-20 GVS. I am so ready 🙌 but a little scared 😟 Today I start my 16 days before surgery liver shrinking diet and after that a do my two day pre-op liquid diet. Do you had to be in blood thinner When you came out the hospital? I have learned by watching your videos about the surgery because I can not read good but I try. My weight was 257lbs. and now I am 237lbs. I take to much pain madacation for my tumor in my head and pain in my back. I am a WOMAN OF GOD AND I WILL MAKE IT 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 I want to go on a bike in a park with my grandchildren and run with no pain.
