Thank you for this video! I am almost 4 months out from surgery and am down 55lbs since surgery, 90lbs since I started losing weight on my own. Frankly, I think I'm going to stick with my starting weight, regardless of the surgery date because that's honestly how much I've lost since I decided to start losing weight and get healthier. I too, was told 80g of protein from my surgeon. Nearly 4 months out, I struggle getting 80g of protein. You're correct, I am burned out on hard boiled eggs. One thing I worry about for myself is I can still seem to eat anything. I haven't vomited once since surgery and granted, I can still eat a very limited amount of food in one sitting, the only thing I have issue with is spicy foods. I used to be able to eat spicy but now I just can't or I get heartburn, so now I avoid spicy if I can. I'm glad to see you're doing well and greatly appreciate you and your videos. I have to keep watching to help me stay on track and get new ideas to try. Have a great day!

Listening as I meal prep my lunches for next week. My daughter heard you talk about quinoa and said it’s one of her favorites since I make it a lot, not so much lately. Nutritional yeast! My family always put it on popcorn as a child. My husband thought I was crazy at first- now my popcorn monger family won’t eat it with out sprinkling some on! 💖 love your channel and your adorable puppy!

This is very helpful. I will be traveling to visit my niece and chose to stay in a hotel with a mini kitchen. I will be meal prepping using my souper cubes to take with me. I am going to get a lunch bag today for healthy snacks on the go. I’ll be on soft foods then. Thank you for the suggestions. I have got to order some Fresh Jaxs seasoning and get an instant pot.

These recommendations are great! Within that first month after surgery, I was unable to stomach dairy products {including whey based protein supplements}; this is not uncommon during the immediate recovery for your internal healing {for the stitched/stapled/bruised areas}. So a few weeks into my second month tho, I was able to do some whey based proteins {but I wasn't a huge dairy person in general prior to surgery {except I loved cheese}. There are lots of other proteins, like soy and pea and vegan types for those who don't want to go the whey route. Collagen is actually a good source of proteins, BUT for folks who have had RnY, with absorption concerns, be aware that collagen is a slower absorption rate than whey. I really want to get as much of my protein and micronutrients from the foods I eat, but at the moment, I'm not able to eat enough. So I had to start back on supplements as my protein was too low and I noticed not only the lab numbers, but the physical symptoms along with loss of strength {I SOOOO hear ya on that}. It's hard finding clean protein supplements, without tons of artificial this and that {flavorings, sweeteners, and chemically processed stuffs}. I'd love to know what you use do for your protein smoothies, as for the protein powder. I'm three months post RNY, so I can resume my protein smoothies now, with a handful of mixed greens or baby spinach, blackberries {fiber and other good stuffs}, and sometimes a portion of frozen banana or frozen avocado. I'm currently using Syntrax whey shake for the powder, but am always looking for other stuff that might be a better or just different choice. There are tons out there that are just not right for me, but I'm not having much luck finding clean protein supplements. Suggestions? I loved this video, because it was chock full of good reminders, esp on the lentils and beans. I know you don't go eat often, but my husband and I do quite a bit of traveling and so I eat lots of egg drop soup in chinese restaurants, beans in mexican restaurants, and pho if available. Salmon is my go to meat, as most meats and I are not on good terms just yet. I was able to eat some grilled chicken the other day, but really don't rely on my ability to eat most meats at this point. I do better with some ground meats in soups still {we roast turkey throughout the year and grind and freeze it in baggies so that it is in the right portion to make soups and stews with}. Sometimes, if I do regurgitate because I ate too fast, or didn't chew enough, or ate something I wasn't ready for...I will just not eat that sort of food for a week or two and then maybe try again, or not. Broccoli and most steamed veggies are good for me and I do eat them more often now, but we have such tiny tums that are not able to contain much, so I'm very much at that MAKE GOOD CHOICES stage where I am reminding myself that this item is going to displace something else that might be wiser, have more protein, be more nutrient dense, etc. Now that the beans are good choices for me, I eat them often for both the protein and the fiber. So thanks for the reminders here! If you can, please do share about your protein supplements, thanks!

I just LOVE your channel and YOU!!! You have such a positive attitude on life and I've learned a lot about things to apply to my food consumption. The 8 is a wonderful rule!! Although I haven't had gastric surgery, I have been a lifetime dieter; I was 12 on my 1st diet; I've struggled at one point in y life getting over 200. I put on during isolation but not anywhere near my largest. I still would love to lose about 20-30 pounds. I going hard with that 8 rule :-)

It's super hard to get the 60-90g of protein in. I'm working hard to finish my dannon light and fit greek yogurt w 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese stirred in. Takes me a couple hrs. 15g. Tuna is too dense for me still. I can eat an egg. An egg is my max size serving right now. It's friggin hard to get enough in w such a teeny tummy.
