This video helped me to accomplish replacing the bearing in the assembly so thanks for that! I didn't have a press, but managed to knock the old bearing out with a hammer, and tap the new one in place with a 2.5 lb hammer and punch, being careful to line the punch up with the center race and alternate sides. Took about 20 minutes or so but carefully seated it fully.

That's great! I made the mistake of not replacing my tub seal and it needed it. Hopefully yours is OK. Happy 4th!

@@BlakesGarage1 --Going to give your fix a try, and I'm interested by this comment of yours about a tub seal. Is a bad tub seal the reason your bearing went bad? I'm wondering how to determine if I might have the same need to replace it as you. Thanks for your help and this video.

@@tylerames2434 absolutely replace the tub seal. You might also compare the cost of the whole agitator drive unit. My bearing fix worked but quickly failed because of a leaking tub seal

I replaced my GE washing machine transmission a few years ago. I used a new tub seal. My plastic water tub was not perfect and the seal did not seat properly, it leaked. there was no way for me to know this when i replaced it. the seal leaked and dumped a bunch of water onto my brand new transmission. the bearing is noisy now. the solution to prevent a water leak was to use permatex when installing the new bearing seal and let it cure before using the washer. i put permatex into the seal opening, some around the seal itself, then seated the seal. after i used permatex no more water leaking. if you want to be absolutely sure, do this. i tried caulking the first time and it just dissolved.

How was the noise?....this is mine. I replaced the transmission in 2019. I replaced the tub seal as well. Not sure if the noise is coming from the transmission or tub bearing. kzfaq.info5oVU_KjSM-Q?si=5_KlKlm4oeM8mlWz

It's not a snap ring, it's actually a spiral ring, like what you use on your house keys, (except it's flat - not roundish like a key ring), and all you gotta do is find the opening and spiral it apart and out. You can easily remove it and reuse it, there's no reason to break it or destroy it.

@@BlakesGarage1 how did you remove the bearing from the aluminum housing, you only should how you put back in
@BlakesGarage12 жыл бұрын
@@foluotun1306 Start by removing the snap ring which holds tge bearing in place, then press the bearing out by pushing on the driveshaft. Use a block of wood to protect the shaft. The shaft and bearing will likely come out together. Then use two blocks of wood to surround the bearing while pressing the shaft out of the bearing. Does that help?
