Speaking of changing colors in gems, I believe it was Germany, in the twenties maybe thirties they would have round doorknobs made of ruby, they would take them, mount them on the roof of the house to make them darker, something about the sun will make ruby's darker over time. Great video thank you.

I have a large reddish orange stone that is about the size of a plum. The stone seems to cleave on a curve plane that also has a slightly round dip along the cleave. The stone is somewhat cloudy. Other than that I don’t know how else to describe it. Would anyone know if I should treat it , aside from radiation, to increase its clarity and any other features that may be hidden by its cloudy appearance?
@noone-uy1ir
@noone-uy1ir 4 жыл бұрын
I'd rather keep it treatment-free as long as you don't know what it is. It could damage the stone. Some gem species are very heat-sensitive. I'd honestly take it to a gemologist for an examination.

uwu owo uwu Thank you for this information. Now all that I have got to do is find a reputable gemologist and hopefully he will be able to identify some of my other “rocks” . I think that I have a couple of meteorites. Plus a few others that I would love to know what they are. This is why I watch this channel, for people like you who are willing to take the time to respond to my comments.

The "curve cleave" may not actually be a cleave, but a conchoidal fracture. if so this can easily help you narrow down the possible ID. Would it be possible to link a picture?

Thicc Fluffy and Bitter I’m not so great about uploading pictures but I’ll give it a try. However I am the king of procrastinating so first I have to find it. It may be a few days but I’ll definitely give it a go. Thank you for this information I really appreciate it.

It's critical to know exactly what type of gem that you have. Not all gems can be treated or enhanced. But different methods are applied to different gems and even gems from different mines can be treated or not, depending on their inherent chemical makeup. So first know your gem.

You didn't mention that citrine is heated amethyst.
@TheJayboyle
@TheJayboyle Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. We didn't have time to mention all the gems that are treated. Only some of the gems that treatment can make a great difference in price. Amethyst and citrine are valued based on their color and clarity; not on treatment or not.

The reason why people use gemstones is healing, aside from the spiritual or beauty aspect... Scientifically speaking, each gemstone has its own healing power, example: garnet helps in blood circulation and is good for the spine. Malachite even helps in getting rid of addictions (eg alcohol,cigarettes,etc)... That’s the reason why people should wear gemstones.

The healing properties of gemstones have not been scientifically proven. Do you think some hydrated copper carbonate would help you get rid of addictions? Because that's exactly what malachite is. But, go off queen, I guess. Not to mention crystal healers often use radioactive/toxic gems (cavansite, galena, cinnabar, even bastnaesite and large eudialytes.) for therapy.

uwu owo uwu Lol I’m a boy, and btw... it depends on the individual wearing it and not the gemstone so... I’d say it depends on the wearer about what he wants to do

@@herambhishere You're saying that like it's a fact, when it isn't, and you're not sourcing your claims. I'd like to see a bit of that.

@@noone-uy1ir The facts I'm stating are based on 43 years of buying and selling gemstones. also for ten years I worked for Bangkok based firm and managed the treatment of topaz and some sapphires for wholesale distribution to the USA and Bangkok markets. This is an area that has little published research; it's a secret of the insiders who know how to treat gemstones. I'm an insider that knows from experience.
