Some vintage jewelry is a nightmare, and others a blessing in disguise. This PAIN of a ring mount actually has a secret advantage that I want to share with you.

Oh Peter, that Tourmaline cut was beautiful. No “PlonkyTonk” there. Such a lovely cut. I’m really proud of you. 👊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I always assume that our Schmuck has at least 300k subs. Very underrated he is.

Interesting! One learns the most when one is actually doing stuff rather than just reading/watching about it.

Yes, I agree with the C axis. So important to cut it like that. A skilled job.

Thank you for the explanation, I've seen a lot of the "closed c-axis" tourmaline, but hadn't put two and two together as to why most of them are cut like that - so it limits the effect of the closed axis (and probably is faster to cut and less wasteful given tourmaline's crystal shape)

You can add a extra support on the under side of the stone.

Thanks very interesting, I’ve been creating cabochons lately, and create the settings for them. You did a great job recutting! I love tourmaline and have a small collection of just green right now. I’m going to create a pendant soon with one of them. I plan on creating a prong setting. Thanks again! Who knows someday I may try faceting.

Somebody needs to invent an infallible schmuck. Also, nice bumper music! 🙂-side note that was really pretty tourmaline.

Why don't you use flat opaque stones for that kind of setting?
