Hey I'm from Trinidad a country in the Caribbean. You brought to gemstones and when I'm older I want to be a gemologist. I want to thank you

My hubby loves his sphalerite too. We collect together. Our largest is 19 carat. I would love to have a big opal like that someday.

My friend just bought me a welo opal pendant for my birthday and I am OBSESSED. It's only about half the size of my pinky nail, but it's absolutely gorgeous with strong flashes of red, green, and golden yellow. I have another uncut opal that I really want to make into jewelry one day. It's a pale, powder-blue opal with flashes of green and blue on one side. That one is about an inch by half an inch by half an inch or so, but after trimming off the potch and shaping it, it would probably not be much bigger than the pendant I just got. Gods I love opal so much.

I just LOVE color! I don’t wear jewelry anymore though. It makes me nervous with all that jiggling. I like to see the colors on people. Your gems are beautiful but I could never wear those big ole things! I’m 5’2”, and 72 years old (little ole lady). Subscribed!

Loved the vid as always. omg.. that soft gem, i was scared that it would shatter haha. i still wish that the close ups of the gemstones were in video instead of stills. it would be awesome to see the sparkle and color gradient of all the gems as the light shifts.

Guys. I had no idea JTV was, like. An actual shopping network channel. With, like, an online store. I didnt realize until I saw a JTV vending machine that dispensed $25 gift cards to the website. I legit thought it was just the KZfaq channel.

I thought the rubellite is gorgeous but the sphalerite is absolutely breathtaking. But the fact that it's delicate means it would be difficult to be used in jewelleries right??

Yes agree its rich color and high dispersion or 'fire' (which is three times higher than that of diamond), makes it truly an outstandingly beautiful gem. You are right it is challenging to cut and fashion, due to it being a softer gemstone. However you can still wear and enjoy it in jewelry but with care.

First I would like to congratulate you on finishing your masters. I would imagine that a BS in gemologist would be one of the most difficult degrees that you could imagine, but a masters I don’t even think that I could begin to understand what is involved. Second, I live in central Maryland and have a fair collection of various types of rocks ,minerals , and stones. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could take them to get analyzed and specify what types they are. I have just about everything from sandstone to possible meteorites and if nothing else than to have them cataloged. Any help would be appreciated.

A local college with a mineralogical department could probably help you with that. Some colleges have a geology department that could also help you, especially with minerals.
