Spiced Fig Loaf Cake - With Caramel Sauce

Күн бұрынA lovely cake with pureed soft dried figs and with all spice, cinnamon and nutmeg. With some chopped walnuts as well and then a caramel sauce over the top this makes a great cake or dessert.
Note: Preheat your oven to 180C/160C Fan/350F. Just to stress the amount of caster sugar is 175g, I said that in the video but put 1745g on the screen, in error.

I am fortunate to have a fig tree. Not always plentiful, however. As soon as one ripeness i cannot help myself to eat it right away as it's So good...

Hi Triple Great. Oh yes, figs fresh off the tree are very good. I have a sister who often shares her's with me.

I have two fig trees and will adapt this for fresh off the tree figs as I always have plenty. This recipe sounds yummy!

Well GEOFF this looks wonderful.. I have a 30ft fig tree in my walled garden which gives figs later in the. Year. But nothing yet.. But dryed figs, are lovely.. Very tasty I like the idea of caramel on top a bit like sticky toffee pudding in cake form.🍰. We have had hit and miss weather sunny 🌞🌿one day rainy the next..☔ Hope you are well ❤

Hi Henrietta. It is a very tasty cake, I always have soft dried figs in the fridge, just for snacking. It was a lovely day here today, hopefully more to come.

Just a little correction that needs to be addressed…on the screen, where the weight of the sugar is printed it says 1745g ! 😮😅 Probably was 174.5 when you reduced the original recipe!

Hi Jenneke. I hadn't noticed the error. It should be 175g of caster sugar. I will put a note below the video.

Hi Triple Great. You may think it is silly, but since it was an adaptation from a much larger recipe, that used 3 eggs, it is not surprising.

I live 45 minutes from Palm Springs, 45 minutes to Hollywood, 45 minutes to Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead (our beautiful mountains) 45 minutes to Disneyland and our lovely beaches.
