George Carlin was the best comedian of all time. I've never seen another comedian be able to hold an audience through 100% of a myriad of shows. He was honest and down to Earth, if you don't like the swearing he typically did go watch Romper Room!

We miss you, George...A side note..a bunch of these famous guys always die in the city where I live, Santa Monica, and I never knew they were living here...It is nice to know they had their privacy!

I am taking the opportunity here to say "Chapeau" to the late George Carlin. A dazzling and insightful fellow who knew how to convey, while putting his ideas forth and make you laugh in the process. Mr. Carlin zealously delivered his controversial and spirited presentations without looking at notes which demonstrated a remarkable knowledge of history, cultures, and capability to memorize an enormous amount of information, facts, and stories old and recent. George Carlin was simply "one of a kind" Thanks to the Internet; we can today appreciate and value his work as he brightens up the globe with laughter. George; the world misses you and will never be the same without you!

Yes. A fine example proving his claim he could perform equally successfully without the use of "street" language which he pointed out was included in most of his work as embellishment to inject heightened reality into his sketches. No one could ever match this unique talent..

How about this one? "For Pete's sake!" Who's Pete? And why is it for his sake?
@tristanblackwolf20437 жыл бұрын
Okay, just to be a stinker...! I think it's a foreshortened form of an oath (curse) involving St. Peter. However, you're quite right, since I have no idea whether or not St. Peter has any sakes to spare. So many people bothering him at the Pearly Gates, he might be all out of sakes by now. Maybe we could rob Paul of some sakes to pay Peter? Or is that the other way around?
