In this video we're listening to George Harrison. We've been checking out members of the Beatles solo projects, and we compared a Beatles song, not to mention hearing Sean Lennon with one of his bands. This rounds out the band mates. Perhaps we'll find more over the weekend. Enjoy!

One of my favourite Harrison songs (though he's my least favourite Bealte) is from the triple album - "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)"

I always thought that George Harrison was completely underrated as a singer and a guitarist. To me, he was the guy who added texture to The Beatles tapestries .

George wrote this in late 1967 into 68 and worked on it with the Beatles, but it didn't make the cut on their last 2 albums. George had dozens of songs back logged that he wrote while a Beatle but could only get 2 songs per album (Ringo got 1 on every album)

There are moments in the "Get Back" documentary where they work on this song back in January in 1968. There is a trombone and trumpet/saxophone back up section. As soon as the Beatles split, George released this album (A TRIPLE ALBUM) full of songs he had ready. It was in the last year or so of the Beatles that John and Paul started to realize George was their equal. Ringo did play on several of the other's albums. John and Paul did shy away from each other for about 2 years after the split. By 1973, they were chatting again, and in 1974 they were both partying in los Angeles and jammed with some others while soaking in the sun and lots of alcohol. George and Paul were the 2 that had the toughest time reconciling, George wanting accolades from Paul, and Paul still seeing George as the young kid who used to follow him around at school and on the school bus.

After being restrained in The Beatles George was happy to finally get to release more songs. This is solid.

I just adore George Harrison's music. Often the meaning isn't immediately obvious, but if you continue to listen, it becomes clear.

If you have time one day, watch the Concert for Bangla Desh, with George Harrison and many of his friends performing, including Ravi Shankarr, Ringo Starr, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton and others, I think it is one of the first benefit concerts.

George actually had this song for The Beatles "Let It Be" Lp. You can see the band briefly run through this on the "Get Back" documentary. He couldn't get it on the Lp as John and Paul as usual were busy hogging up most of the tracks on their LP's. Most likely Ringo on drums here but there were three drummers on this album so there's a little speculation but most likely it's Ringo. Peter Drake who was a Nashville studio musician is credited with pedal steel guitar on this track. Please check out the first track from this Lp "I'd Have You Anytime" written by George and Bob Dylan and Harrison plays a killer slide guitar on this track. Maybe my favorite track on the album and there's a lot of great tracks on this album. Hope this info is helpful for you guys. My favorite line from this song you just did is "Daylight is good at arriving at the right time". Something beautiful about that line to me. Peace ❤❤

Sorry that's a false narrative, the tapes of the sessions prove that the Beatles spent many hours on the song. George pulled the song ,not the others, George could be petulant. Check out pop goes the 60s

A song about the inevitability of death and shortness of life. Harrison was very spiritual and upon hearing of Lennon's death was unemotional and took it all in stride.

As a curiosity it's well worth listening to the Beatles version of this There's a number of songs they developed in their band that they ended up using instead in their post-Beatles solo work Paul McCartney tried "Teddy Boy", and John Lennon mucked around with "Child of Nature" before he reworked it as "Jealous Guy". Then there's songs like Paul McCartney's "Come and Get it" which he brought in to the Bealtes already finished on tape and they rejected it so he gave it to the Iveys a Welsh band who released it (and changed their name to Badfinger)

Talking of things that have passed, Wayne Kramer of The MC5 died.....something from them would be good, or perhaps better would be Wayne performing the Clash song, Jail Guitar Doors....with or without Billy Bragg....its the theme song for a cool charity both were involved in that gives guitars to prison inmates and encourages them to write songs about their experiences. Also, the song Jail Guitar Doors was written in part about Wayne, so doubly fitting.... " Let me tell you 'bout Wayne and his deals of cocaine A little more every day Holding for a friend till the band do well Then the D.E.A. locked him away"

This song is a George song rejected by the other Beatles…. George kept it (obviously) and it ended up as the title track of his hugely successful solo album

It wasn't actually rejected by the other Beatles, they spent a lot of time rehearsing it, during the 'Get Back' sessions. George decided not to continue with it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gNSSl5Zjsp28p6M.html

There are a few singers over the decades that you can confidently identify upon first listening even if you didn’t know who the song was by - The much missed George Harrison is one of them , delightful song well played and sung , shame on John n Paul for stifling him for as long as they did . In my view it’s Def a commentary on the inevitable upcoming permanent split of the band , that’s just my take though . 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

he was not stifled in my opinion , if so only a little. When you consider that John and Paul were just a little bit successful at what they did, its understandable . I mean can you imagine Keith and Mick giving any of the other stones as much opportunity as George got. anyway that's how i see it .

@@matthewashman1406 😳… well you’re opinion is valid and your entitled to it Matthew . The fact that John and Paul reflected in later life and did indeed state they had stifled George and not recognised his growing competency as a songwriter and that was widely accepted and lamented in the industry , in no way invalidates your wild and off the mark opinion . 😃 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Chris…. Wah Wah by George on this album was more of a direct dig especially at John & Paul for continually rejecting his songs…. Ringo did play on this Album among others including Eric Clapton, Jim Keltner…… this album was a Triple album because he had so many songs backlogged…… All those years ago ( Tribute to John)… is another great song featuring the other Beatles + Linda McCartney.

There's no steel guitar here ; That's George playing his guitar with a slide on his finger. This isnt about the Beatles, although they, too, passed away. He's referring to the fact that in this life, nothing is forever . everything in the Physical Universe will one day be gone. Your family, your loved one, even yourself. The Sun will eventually be gone and so will this Earth , so dont become attached to things, they all have to go . This comes from the Hindu philosophy . Attachment is the reason we suffer. We become attached to people and to our body, but the body ages and changes and becomes unattractive and we suffer because we have become attached to it. This goes for "all things" . Learn to accept it and tp let go .
