I didn't know much of George Michael before he passed. I'd heard a few of his songs on the Delilah Show over the years and knew his Wham! song. I'm socked (and in a way appalled) that I didn't realize how amazing he is. RIP!!!

I'm 53 years old and I was a huge fan of Queen and when Freddie died I was heart broken. As I was watching the tribute concert it became even more apparent that nobody could ever match Freddie's God given talent. I always viewed George Michael as a good pop singer and nothing more for he never really impressed me but when I saw his performance and rendition of Somebody To Love which was one of my favorite songs I was speechless and I knew that I was witnessing history being made. I have since been a fan of his music. Tragically with his passing the world has become a much sadder place. R.I.P. George, please let Freddie know that we still love him .

RIP. One of the best vocalists of all time that didn't get enough props throughout his career, just because of a stupid gay scandal.
@rocket76977 жыл бұрын
The ' scandal' is that he had to hide his orientation from Day One. To not ' hurt' his mother, his family etc. Multiply that by millions and you have an idea of the damage that is being done daily.
@Kaagrant7 жыл бұрын
That's the truth. He was a charming, kind and generous person, in addition to having the voice of an angel. Freddie also felt he had to "protect" his mother. Apparently, she knew anyway, and accepted him just as he was. There's a good interview with her online somewhere. But regardless, the real wrong is that George Michael was ever shamed for who he was. I hope we have left those days behind forever. Such an untimely death for this beautiful artist. What a voice and talent.
@anthonyboarman38337 жыл бұрын
Stupid because he was gay, or stupid the way some people felt about it?
@anthonyboarman38337 жыл бұрын
Did he really have to hide it? Maybe he felt deep shame because of the fuc--up society we live in. His mother could of handled it if he gave her a chance. I've head that the gay gene is from the mother's side anyway.

What makes this great is he sang for himself and not to imitate Freddy. He knew his limits and that is what seperates good singers from great singers is understanding every extent of your vocal range. You see lpts of people attempt to go above their vocals to match an original piece but make it sound bad. If you just sing in the way you know amd yhe vocal ranges in which you know you can hit itll always make for a great song/performance.
@krisushi13 жыл бұрын
This was the only song performed on the night that didn't need to be adjusted to suit the performer. George sung this song in the exact same way that Freddie did on a technical note. His performance though was all his very own!
