Can a continuation apply in a situation where the new claims are for an invention that is in another category or classification or application ? For instance, in the initial patent claims section, a set of claims were written for the invention to be used in classification A. And it is also written a set of claims for the invention to be used in classification B. And it turned out, a patent was granted for the second set of claims for classification B but then set of claims for classification A were disallowed. In this scenario, can we use the continuation application to widen the scope of protection for our inventions and ideas by creating a portfolio of patents so that it's more difficult for others to use our ideas in patent 1 to be used in another invention of different classification ?
