In the new webseries in cooperation with Glidecam USA, Stefan shows the basic movements with the handheld stabilizer from Glidecam.
Slow is smooth and smooth is king. Expand you skills with slowing down you speed and get a feeling for great shots.
And my friends once again:
we all need to bend our knees to walk but not to crouch!
Stand up straight relax and walk as usual with slight bends in the knees that occur when walking upright :-))

Thanks for these videos. I bought an inexpensive stabilizer for my DSLR this week and was able to get OK results once I got it balanced, but didn't have much control over the stabilizer. After watching the first two videos and practicing for just a couple of hours I already see a lot of improvement in my footage. It's so helpful just to get basic instructions on how to hold the stabilizer and move with it, and practicing is a lot more fun when you actually have an idea of what to practice, instead of just fumbling around with trial and error.

Going slow with a steady cam is very very hard to get good shots !! You are a master at your craft and you must do it very well..but I think the glidecam is best used with certain speed so it can glide and look smooth. Just shoot at 60-120fps and slow it down.. but if you are a master like yourself do it from scratch :)
@StefanCzech
@StefanCzech 5 жыл бұрын
You cant slow down every shot. Slowmo is cool but not for everything.

Thanks for your videos, they are the best i've found! One question, should i disable OIS on the lens when using a glidecam?
@StefanCzech
@StefanCzech 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. If you use OIS depends on the camera and lens model. On Canon foto lense, I will shut off because they are made for stills. On a GH5 I would use it.

@@StefanCzech try to strip down? Well that's a good idea, because I'm still using the standard camera lens from the Canon 1300D, maybe I should replace a smaller lens. but is it possible stefan? I use the camera to make a youtube video in the depth tour a car

Hi Stefan! This video was very helpful. I have a question. Do the right shoes are important for more smooth shots? Do you recommend any specific type of shoes? Sport sneakers with soft, cushioning soles, like for running on the street?
@StefanCzech
@StefanCzech 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Marek. I recoment the shoes that fit you the most. Feel good and give you a good grip on the ground. I know a lot of Glidecam tips here on youtube, but the "smoothes" comes not from your feet or "bending" knees. It comes from you "bending arm" Stay safe in good gripping sportshoes, and you will be fine Cheers

sir I watched most of your videos and TBH you are really a good teacher as well as a good glidecam operator. I am also practicing to operate glidecam but I have a problem making steady shots because my glidecam keep on swinging side by side when I walk, what shall I do???
@StefanCzech
@StefanCzech 8 жыл бұрын
Hi James, thanks for your comment. Ok, to your problem: Make sure your esystem is balanced and had a droptime at 1.5-2 sec. Some of the newbees talking about 3-5 sec. Thats ok for a bigger and havyer system and more experianced operator. A bit more bottom heavyer is better in the beginning. Look at you weight if there is everything in the right positions. Make it symetric. Try and learn. Cheers Stefan

LG Stefan

Hey Stefan, I find your tutorials very useful. I've followed your guidance one by one. But I run into a small problem. How do you do a smooth tilt? I find it it's easy to tilt down. But when I tilt up, it gets unstable. And I cant maintain the balance especially during walking. Could you give me some help? Thanks.

How many weights do you use for the Canon Cinema series? I can only get it balanced with 4 weights either side but the central post is as short as possible with the wings all the way in, should I be extending the post to get it balanced with less weights? also can you do a tutorial on how to mount a monitor such as Ninja Flame to the bottom and counter weight at the back if we dont have those big batteries for counter weight? thanks

Hey Stefan, I'm loving your content. I've got a question regarding camera gear. I'm using a canon 70D with shutter tuned to the (48 fps ~ option on manual..) Even if I'm filming really steady with the glidecam, not that fast, the shots seem blurry. Which Camera should I buy to get good shots out of my glidecam 2000hd? Thank you very much! Cheers
@StefanCzech
@StefanCzech 8 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. Let's see, you mean 1/50sec. or. 48fps???? If you shoot in 48p it's only 720p. Maybe that's the reason for you results. Stay on 1080p/25fps. Is my tip
@philippblank
@philippblank 8 жыл бұрын
Yes I was shooting in automatic cause I was new to everything a few months back, the Autofocus was great for that. I've changed to "M" manuel mode and I saw a Video that 1/50 sec is 48 FPS and rounds up to 50?! So 25FPS is enough to get a smooth shot? What Camera should I upgrade too in the future? Between 1-2k € Thank you Stefan, I really appreciate your time! Greetings from Berlin.

Cheers Stefan
