Hi Scotty. Try using the spray can trigger tool, it definitely eliminated “stippling” and product splatter for me when I first used Hyperdip. Also adds a great deal more control when applying the Hyperdip.

Could also try wiping the spray tip off frequently. I find that the dip can dry on the nozzle and cause the splatter as it builds up.

I recommend that you warm up the cans in hot water for about 10 minutes and use a spray trigger. Shake the cans for about 1 entire minute and the rest apart on something. It works for me. I did my Silverado rims in obsidian black and they came out great.

Gloss does look a lot better. Yeah those damn splatters are very difficult to avoid. I’d probably say try to keep the bottle at least 10” away from the rim or maybe even pay more attention to the finger pressing the nozzle. Sometimes the finger might get on the way of the spray as you press down on the nozzle. Not saying that is your case, but it’s something that does happen. They also sell like a pistol grip kinda looking device that you sit on top of the bottle that really helps with that and with finger fatigue. But awesome job there man and thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. There’s nothing better than the satisfaction of doing things on your own even if they don’t come out perfect.

Looks great in the gloss metallic! Exactly what I want for my Rav4! Maybe the pistol grip they sell might help with the drips. I have never used anything like this so I'm a bit nervous! 😱

You have to do more coats

I've seen this before, it doesn't come out as shiny when going over a lower sheen. Best to start from scratch for the highest gloss finish

I just did mine with Hyperdip Piano black over the shadow black that I did last summer and I did not get any splatter. What I did was placed the cans in a small bucket of hot water before using them and while I was waiting between coats. Also used the spray can pistol grip and did not spray and stop. I sprayed the whole wheel without stopping the spray. Maybe this will help.

Scotty, well done and thank you for making this video. Bummer about the drips. How is the humidity in your garage? I wonder if that effects it. I’ll probably wait a little later in Spring before I do mine. Can’t wait to experiment with it though. I love the gloss on your wheels. They look powder coated now. 👍

Looks easier than using plastidip and then adding the glossifier.

gonna spray my dodge dart in a few days, cant decide on the piano black or the gloss emerald black, I also want to do my badges but was wondering if you think I would have any extra left over to do them, I have 18 inch wheels if that helps

This looks good! I think the gloss is a lot better than the satin finish. Does the tire protectant and clear come with the kit? Or did you have to buy them separately?

I see now... have you tried letting it warm up in the warm water to let the cans atomize?

I would contact plastidip and get replacement cans. Also did you try heating up the cans in warm water b4 use?
