I'm so glad you got a chance to see Godzilla Minus One, Eric. I've seen this movie twice and planned on seeing it for the third time. My favorite soundtrack was after defeating Godzilla and all saluted. Godzilla theme is also my favorite.

This is my new favourite godzilla movie and as a fan of the toho films I'm glad there's a Godzilla movie that managed to top all of them. Take that monsterverse.

If you ever check out Shin Godzilla, I will say that the human characters aren’t as good but Godzilla is honestly at his most terrifying. The designs they use for him and the carnage that goes around is genuinely scary.

As much as I love the previous Toho films, they aren't able to hold a candle to this one (Other then the original, GMK and Shin). This is now my all time favorite Godzilla film, favorite film of the year, and one of my favorite films of all time.

Finally a monster villain that’s actually evil and not misunderstood, and the real villains being evil humans clitche. The trailers even hinted at giving an explanation why Godzilla was attacking by implying the nuclear explosions made him angry, and saying “He’ll never forgive us!” But no, the complete opposite! He doesn’t even mind the nuclear radiation as like other versions he eats it for food. He actually seems to be attacking for no reason; the humans don’t even provoke him in this version. He’s just a bully. The quotes in the trailers aren’t even in the movie.

In my opinion, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the movie. It was a perfect Godzilla movie, it was even a perfect movie. The characters were extremely well developed and you cared for them so much. Fantastic visuals despite the small budget and Godzilla is done so well as an embodiment of fear that you get scared for the characters whenever he shows up. Easily a 10/10 and the best movie of the year. Only Oppenheimer comes close.

you should check out the original movie simply titled Godzilla from 1954 if you want something very similar to Minus One, the characters are great and one in particular has to grapple with his own morality in some very tense and emotional scenes.

This film was fantastic so much so that it is in my top 5 favorite films of this year.

You pointed out all the good parts that was exactly thinking and I love how toho went back to the 1954 original of making Godzilla the villain again and of course, he was supposed to be a asshole I mean the radiation and mutation has caused him extreme amount of pain,suffering & torture! and his taking all his anger and vengeance against the people that somewhat created him aka the Godzillasaurus from “GVKG (1992)” but yet despite him being the villain again they still somehow manages to make him a well emotional-expressive-tragic character like monsterverse Godzilla ver, and give it a 9.9/10 close enough if they only show gory details like a cow for a uncut ‘54’ reference!

Well if you to watch a TOHO godzilla movies that have good human stories, I'd recommend the 1954 original movie, Godzilla vs, Biollante, Godzilla against Mechagodzilla (2002), & Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Especially Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack given that the director of G Minus One took some influence from that & if you though the Godzilla that appeared in Minus One was evil. Wait till you watch GMK. That incarnation of Godzilla is literally Death incarnate.

My one criticism with this movie is the ending. She should have died. The last scene in the hospital felt way too much like a cop out. Also I don’t like how the last shot sets up for a sequel. I would have preferred it to be a standalone story.

Eric tbh the old Japanese godzilla might have corney but charming characters but definitely have those that are well written and have good emotions depth and characters arcs, like in the original 1954 godzilla which i highly recommend wathcing after this one as both are basically the same movie but imo the original is still the best godzilla films, other movies are godzilla vs mothra the 1960s one from the showa era, godzilla vs mechagodzilla 1970s, the return of godzilla which you actually used a clip for that film, godzilla vs biollante 1989, godzilla vs mechagodzilla 1992, godzilla vs destroyah 1995, gmk 2001, and the godzilla against mechagodzilla dualigy from 02 to 03.
