hey eric, i’m in year 10 and im currently preparing for my gcse’s. last year (9) i wasn’t a very good english student, and i only had myself to blame but i simply didn’t understand, even point-evidence-explain paragraphs. i had been watching your videos for a while prior to year 9 but when i started watching your versus videos the enjoyment became a literal tool for me to understand poetry and movie tropes, and since doing macbeth for gcse, ive been doing better than i ever been. your understanding of film and media has aided me when annotating and answering in class, has given me confidence and vastly increased my vocabulary i got an A* predicted in english language, and literature, where last year i was getting c-b level. i owe you a thank you. 🐐

I liked what Halle Bailey brought to the role of Ariel, and that they added extra scenes of her and Eric bonding, yet it largely didn't need to exist. I also wished that they'd kept the scene of Eric ramming the ship into Ursula, as opposed to having Ariel do it herself.

Even though I don't agree with Transformers and FNAF being here and should be on the best movies list imo, the others are definitely well warranted on this list. 2023 was definitely the year of rare gems and a lot of bad trash such as Mutant Mayhem.

Good list, I agree with a lot of these! However: I get where you’re coming from with TMNT mutant mayhem, but I think it was meant to emulate the 80’s series more, hence the gross out comedy and goofy turtles.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts was ok not great but it's better to watch the 1986 animated Transformers movie. Five Nights at Freddy's was an cheap awful horror film ripping off other horror films. Antman and the Wasp Quantumania was indeed garbage. I haven't seen the Marvels which i boycotted it and never want to watch. In my opinion Barbie should be on this list because the film is so misguided by making an adult comedy pg-13 movie based on the little girl's toy and making Barbie's boyfriend a complete dumbass. I'm surprised that _Five Nights at Freddy's_ is on this list. I'm not as big a fan of FNaF as I was when I was younger, but I still thought the movie was pretty good. I'm not sure how much knowledge of the franchise you personally have, but it's clear that you gotta know a good amount about the lore and such to understand what's going on. Otherwise, I imagine a good chunk of it will fly right over your head. But yeah, personally, I enjoyed the movie.

Aside from Transformers and Turtles, I am okay with the choices on the list, although I am surprised that you ranked Ant-Man 3 above The Marvels. Also, I thought 2023 was a great year for movies, mainly because I saw a lot of many of the praised films of the year.

All of that hate towards Turtles...oof. Now, I hear where you're coming from, but the reason I didn't hate it was because that I was ok with a lighter version existing. If anyone doesn't like it, then that's ok. We can go back to the darker Turtles that have been around for decades.

I personally did enjoy mutant mayhem, but I do see where you are coming from. Plus, i havent seen any of the previous shows as well. However, I think the "getting accepted" part was pretty good. But hey, we were never meant to look eye to eye on everything. Agree with everything else though. As always great video.

As someone who grew up with the 2003 turtles I actually enjoyed mutant mayhem. I don’t think it’s anywhere near as amazing as the show but I think that mutant mayhem has potential. Sure, the turtles act more like kids than teenagers (I can confirm that we teenagers are actually mature) but I think that the shredder could break them in the 2nd movie.

I agree with you that 2023 is not a good year for Hollywood. What I did not expect from this video are the movies that made it on this list, especially on the #1 spot.

My worst movie of 2023 is The Expendables 4 movie. I wasn't Impressed with everything in that movie. I thought that It was Jason Statham spin off movie Lee Christmas story. The Blood CGI was bad and it is similar to the straight to DVD horror movies. The Plot was boring. I didn't like Megan Fox, 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson, Jacob Scipio was annoying but in Bad Boys 4 he was superb actor, Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais were wasted.

Here r my ideas to improve fnaf movie & the review of it.... sorta: After first dream, Mike wakes up in the first night to see Bonnie gone, later Chica disappears too (He'd wake up in 2 or 3 A.M.) After one of dream things, u could see eyes of spirits turn black & black tears (Like in minigames & that bad movie jumpscare) for a short moment before Mike wakes up confused Well, combining night 3 & 4 would feel too rushed, imagine truly seeing these robots up close only to see them building forts later Also during night 4, Mike could tell Vanessa that animatronics smell bad, it's called - FORESHADOWING (for Night 5 plot twist) It'd be cool if in night 2 of fnaf movie, it'd be simular to classic fnaf 1 stuff, but all 4 animatronics would try to hunt down Mike, it'd be like in Onaf - Each hour is harder than it's previous one It'd make sense for it not to happen in night 5, as the animatronics knew what to expect & while Mike's sleeping, Foxy came from left & put him in that torture mechanism & Mike would need to get out It'd show animatronics as smart, like they don't fall for the same stuff & do things differently or smth Scratch that! Freddy is fast & has no hook as one hand, so he should be the one to make Mike to torture device in night 5 Funny, isn't it? All Freddy related bots are the ones which lead to death of 2 people Abby knew & almost killed her brother I wish fnaf movie was actually scary, i don't really understand how William uses drawings to control. That custody sub plot also ended kinda badly. Nobody acknowledges death of Aunt Jane, Mike doesn't even know that he was betrayed by her Now here's not actual review: I found "It's me" refference when during one scene in office where everything was glitching I don't mind William having little screentime. He's supposed to be mysterious villain anyway. Tbh blood not leaking from Spring bonnie suit is kinda realistic. I like how at the end, Matthew made him sound intentionally worse cuz of the pain William endures. His final speech was cheesy but i liked it. I feel like it'd be better if animatronics shoved Spring Bonnie mask on his face, instead of him doing so. But maybe it's connected to William sort of narcissism. William took his pain like a champ & didn't gave pleasure to his previous victims as seeing him suffer. Ngl, William had some sort of charm in this movie I like how animatronics dragged him. It looked cool He also mentioned some owner, which means that Henry might appear in sequel My take is a hot one: I hate game fnaf lore, Henry was introduced too late in the story & i prefer One Night at Flumpty's trilogy anyway (Flumpty is my fav fnaf related character) I hope in sequel we get the reason to why PG killed those kids, like it'd be explained by Henry, no worries, i don't want Henry to just be exposition dump. Ngl, i like pure evil villains In Puss in Boots 2, i prefer Jack Horner over Death I just think that killing kids is a huge deal & we should know why he did that. Also Vanessa being William's daughter makes me interested in their background Ok, William aside I dunno, it's weird to me that whe these filler villains entered pizzeria after Mike left, and it happend after 6 A.M. but Animatronics were still like hostile. But i guess it was some sort of change too. This movie had more villains then i expected (Minor villain, now i remember the word) & i don't mind red eyes I don't understand how William was controlling animatronics too. At least Mike was given reason to not quit his job after night 3 I like Cory's cameos Also i like how William's eyes looked before he put on mask for the final time Tbh i like the sounds William was making during springlock scene, like he was hiding his pain from victims cuz of his pride, he looked like he was abt to cry out of pain, but he put himself back together, said the speech & accepted death like a champ Which is one of the reasons why i like his speech I found these comments on internet which i agree with: "I love how he didn't scream or even panic. 2:19 - It is worth noting that the Russo brothers only directed Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, the scripts were written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely - so it could be that they just aren't very good writers. I'd personally argue the writing in those 4 MCU movies isn't that good either, but that's just a subjective take - I haven't actually seen Extraction 2, but based on what you've said in this video, it seems likely that the Russos aren't great screenwriters.

I'm gonna take this opportunity to talk about a movie that I found out about this year, and read the Wikipedia article for it along with IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes reviews. That is all I needed to count this as the worst movie I saw this year: Cuties. If you don't know, Cuties is another woke feminist movie. It is about an 11 year old girl getting bored of her family's traditions, so she joins a dance group with other kids of her age. Now, that would be fine...if they didn't wear revealing clothing and danced suggestively like TikTok dancers (i.e Addison Rae, Charli D'amelio, etc). Yes. This is a child exploitation movie. That should be all that needs to be said.

I did cringe a little after seeing the Fnaf movie on the list, which is a genuine shame as it had some really good stuff in it, but I admit it could have had more of an R rating and a few fixes here and there, but it's honestly far from the worst this year has to offer. It's a good lot of fun for Fnaf fans, but let's hope the potential sequel improves upon the first one.

Personally I like TMNT Mutant Mayhem but I'm not a die hard fan of TMNT all I've seen is that Michael Bay one and a crossover they had with the power rangers in space which was fine I guess. Also I didn't mine the Marvels it was just average mcu but I liked miss marvel in it and little mermaid was pretty mid as well. I'd put quantum mainer and number 1 as it wasn't even good as dumb fun.

Hey Eric! Great video! Would you do a versus video between Scream 1996 VS. Thanksgiving 2023? Or better yet, Scream 2022 VS. Thanksgiving 2023 because the recent 2 Scream movies imo were terrible whereas Thanksgiving was more of a better follow up to the first 4 Scream movies than “5” and “6” which imo were bad and were woke soulless cash grabs. They disrespected the legacy characters and basically are the villain’s plot from 4. Sorry, but like Rey Palpatine, I’m not going to root for the daughter of Billy Loomis. Sorry but Scream ended with Scream 4 as far as I’m concerned! I hope Thanksgiving can be a potential good new horror franchise that’ll be good quality like all the old legacy horror franchises continuously getting milked and butchered by modern Hollywood.

They should make a TMNT: Last Ronin series

I personally thought both Extraction movies were equally awful in terms of story and characters. I only ever watch them for the action, and personally, I far prefer the action in the 2nd one. The long takes were much better and the cinematography was cleaner. Had a blast in Extraction 2 action, whereas found the 1st one kinda boring.

I’ve seen half of the movies on this list last year, due lack of interest. I wasn’t a Big TMNT fan as a kid so my interest in Mutant mayhem or Rise of the beasts wasn’t really piqued. Yeah aside from a few Juggernauts like Guardians 3, Across the spider verse, Oppenheimer, John wick 4 a few others, 2023 was a mediocre year. My number one most disliked film of 2023..was Megan.

I get why you put the five nights at Freddy’s movie there but for me it’s one of the best movies of this year. You may be puzzled by this but this movie was just made for the fans since we have been waiting for this film for 8 years!! And when I watched I loved it.

Bro... I actually agree on TMNT Mutant Mayhem. I felt the exact same way. I can kinda understand why you might like it, but personally, it was kinda a torture to watch for me. Almost nothing about it showed me what I like from TMNT. What's s even worse is the fact that the when I saw it in theaters the movie stopped playing like, 3 time, and each of those times I had to wait around 15 minutes for it to turn back on.
