Had to write and let you know how much I'm enjoying your videos. You are concise, informative, entertaining with a great demeanor.Also appreciate that you are organized, don't waste my time and cover all the basics of the technique you're presenting. I was involved in education for a number of years and have recently taken up acrylic pouring in retirement. What FUN! I get to play with color, mix paint, explore styles and be creative while lacking any drawing, sketching skills. If you ever get to the Seattle area in the USA I hope you'll do a class or meet and greet in the area. Enjoy your art!

Hey Sharon, thank you so so much for your lovely comment, it really brightened my day :)) And I am just happy for you that you found acrylic pouring as your hobby...it is indeed so much fun and if you asked me 2 years back...I did not even think about ending up enjoying it...I do have a realism background and if you scroll through my videos you will encounter my portrait paintings as well but as I cannot show all of them (client's decisions...) and I so much enjoy the pours to relax myself from realism...there are so many pretty sweet projects already here. So if your time allows have a look around ;)) We are planning a US visit next summer but only for 3 weeks...and the US is sooooooo big....

Its beautiful. I recently saw a really great tip. This lady used her stapler to attach the wide popsicle sticks on the back of the canvas. This way there is something substantial to hold on to and no smudges from your fingers on the sides.

Loved you adding the gold flakes! I need to find the “Ultra” Gloss by Liquidtex! I only use the gloss. I have done resin on top...love it, but it is so difficult to have a perfect finish. Your Ultra looks just as good! Thank you for sharing!
@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
yes resin is tricky, especially on canvases...totally agree. The varnish has its tricky parts as well but it is way easier to handle in my eyes when it just comes for a sealing of the artwork. The difference between gloss and ultra gloss is not tooooo large but if you can get the ultra, use the ultra :)

I apply Liquitex varnish using a damp car wash sponge (no sponge cells). As long as I add enough varnish to my sponge, and I use a delicate pressure and don't overwork each swipe, it looks great. I haven't been going for the resin look with the varnish, though.

so sad that I missed your live chat but watching later. gina deluca uses a sponge covered in a pop sock (which is like nylon ladies tights, or pantyhose ) to apply thin even coats of gloss varnish- the pantyhose stops bubbles forming and prevents brush strokes showing and creates a nice smooth glaze finish. the covered sponge can be kept in a ziploc bag between coats so no brush cleaning required either.

Yay for bigger brushes!!!! I really like this, it reminds me of a planet (you could make a whole planet series!!!). I especially like the very blue areas with the striations of gold (but I'm a 'blue' person). I always like the gold leaf addition but I feel it needs more or some type of structure to really give it that OMG WOW factor. Your paintings are just always so pleasing to the eye. Question: Do you still do those painting challenges? They were fun.

Hmmmmm, a challenge? It would only be fair if I respond to a challenge as well, but while school is in session it's almost impossible. I've been thinking a lot about a Northern lights painting since I just took a vacation to see them ;) ...I really like the way you use gold leaf and I love the way you blend your colors. I bet lines made from your ring pours in different blue hues would look stunning as a northern-lights type of background with gold leaf trees in the foreground. 🤔 LG Anne

@MKLGRMFineArt

for one don't add silicone to the paints and make sure your pouring medium does not cause cells. Floetrol for example does create cells from itself. I then use acrylic binder as a pouring medium as it is more stable.

Next time put the gold or the colour you want to see less of last cause this will be poured off most of the time and the colours you want to see more of first when doing this kind of pour. I made that mistake recently with my pour. Great job. I love gold..

I would have loved it better if you opted for something (anything) that's blue in colour instead of the crumbled gold leaf. The gold colour got drowned by its similarly hued background. Something contrasting the gold colour is the way to go. Just to break the redundant pigment. U can hardly notice it's there. U gotta twirl the canvas first to actually realize it's presence in your art composition. Sorry, to be blunt. Just saying. I'm an artist, too. Please don't get me wrong. I love it still. It looks like a pair of gold angel wings.🙂

No worries, I was not offended :) I had nothing other-colored and working same as the gold leaf. Only silver leaf and that would not have worked at all....And I did not want to pour another color over it as well....But I am with you. It was not the best to do perhaps but I still like the result...And it reflects nicely when one walks by :)
