I would love to restore that rusty pan you have. I've restored several pieces of cookware that are similar to that pan, and I'm willing to bet I could work my magic on it. So if you'd ever like to see your old pan looking new, I'd do it free of charge as a thank you for all of the education and entertainment you've provided me over the years.

@@squirrelorama I would never defile Crusty Rusty like that; but I would definitely clean up that gold pan. You know, it's kind of funny that at no point during my previous message did I put any thought to pointing out that even though it seems like I'm describing Rusty, I am indeed talking about the gold pan. I appreciate it! I think I'll leave it since they always end up "rusty again" because they ..just do. I kind of prefer the rust, it's like natural seasoning for the metal pans. Thanks though anyway!

Hey Klesh! I know that place....My girfriend and I and faithful dog were there 2 winters ago...Most memorable moment....when my lady went back down to the bottom on our bike to get her shovel....dressed in black pants and a tan suede jacket....two hunters saw her and almost shot her, thinking she was an "ELK"!!!!!!! "You're dressed just like an Elk", they exclaimed....have a good one....Richard

Klesh, great video as always! I've found that the simplest method for breaking up clay is to fill a bucket half way with dirt and then top it off with water. Put a watertight lid on it and vigorously shake/rock the bucket back and forth while it's one the ground. The clay and rocks grind against one another and leave a nice loose slurry. A bit of a trick when prospecting Nevada clay.

About 30years ago, a couple buddies and I went up above timberline there (on Lost Canyon Road) and reworked some tailings from the Lost Canyon placer (magnetite chunks 1" in diameter were very common, and they ran their water hard to keep them moving, and thus washed gold through); in one day we had 5gms of 'fines', a 1/4oz nugget with quartz, and one beautiful 1/2 oz nugget shaped like a peanut in the shell! Was a great day! But someone reactivated the claim, and was off-limits when I went back up a few years later. Good times, though!

Hey klesh good job nice vid so i have an idea about the clay and your sluice box just grab a tined rake take the handle off and place it accross right by the sluice drop riffles that way it can block big chunks from just rolling off and will give the water a bit more time to eat away athe clay and soften it or or give you time to shovel then grab the pieces that just sit there that way you dont have to classify just a friendly suggestion

Shane, thanks for the fun video. The outdoor prospecting videos are equally enjoyable as the GPAH at home videos - maybe more so...I'd have to get out the fun-o-meter to check. When you lived in PA, did you do any outdoor panning? I live in central PA, and the closest gold is in Virginia...maybe Dillsburg on a super lucky day.

Wish i had a longer bazooka. My small one is great as it fits in back pack etc. However, i blew a lot of gold out using it in Ohio on the Mohican river, Swank claim. I finally had to put my banjo pan with a dream mat in it below the end if the bazooka and found 17 nice flakes of gold that had blown out of the bazooka. My faith in it has kind of gone away. Now i will always be using another catch all with it! If it was a foot longer maybe?

GPAA Swank West. Bellville Ohio. Fantastic access to the river, and we always found good gold. Digging or using the dredge. I think it would be two or three hours from Columbus. There is also rv camping there. The Swank East is more remote and tent only so maybe not as dug out. Also the GPAA just purchased another clAim on the East side bordering PA. Go for it! Holy moly... That's a LOT of black sand. Put that all in 1 bag, seed it with some gold, and sell it as a super God mode paydirt (because the paydirt is invincible). Lol

It should but can't use any powered equipment at Cache Creek. Can't even bring a wagon to haul your gear around

Here we have a diference betwen kinds of clay we also have lehm which is also translated to clay but is not exactly the same. Lehm comes from the word Leim which means glue. It is a lot stickier than clay but has clay in it. Its like worse clay.

when i was watching. i suddenly realised the best thing to do would of been to get as much as u could carry of that clay dry it out and crush it down to a fine powder then classify it. u might of got a larger yield of gold. i watch a programme called Aussie gold hunters on QUEST.....
@Klesh
@Klesh 4 жыл бұрын
That’s true! Only problem is the air is very thin in high elevations here, and carrying buckets of heavy mud up and out would be a great workout!

@@Klesh that's true u don't want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger do u. I was going to suggest u get a gemstone book incase u find any really interesting or spectacular minerals. As some r worth more than gold. I have a few that r worth more than gold. U should ask Dan Hurd for advice on gemstones also a guy on KZfaq called meminer. I love watching ur videos. Hope u do another diamond hunt on the road and pavements again..

Unfortunately out at Cache Creek, there is no powered equipment allowed. Even un-powered Wagons are not allowed, so my hands are the best tools available. I've even tried rocks to help smash it through my classifier, or thought of bringing a potato masher or something LOL no dice.

Just a question, would putting the dirt in a bucket filled with water help in breaking up the clay Before you run it?

Honestly, it just clumps up into a solid piece when that's done. It's very thick and gluey clay.
