@fred mertz it means what he says. Don't buy into the nonsense that everyone is family when you work somewhere. It's simply not true, you are a tool until you are no longer useful to them. Whether someone else replaces you because they are better, cheaper or both. No amount of years makes a difference. You should treat a job like a business transaction because that is how employers view employees.

@@TV-cx2zw It is how it works. They do send offs all the time there for people that have been at the station for 5, 10 years. They just did one a few weeks ago for Pascucci, who had not been there that long. What were the reasons other than pettiness?

@@michaelarmenta8289 remember, she left to a competitor... And she didn't get her way so she put her name out there and NBC offered her a job. I can see their point is all I'm saying. Not saying it's right or wrong. Mark however is a tremendous douche for what he did.

When you finally wake up and realize that companies and management don't care about you. You realize what to expect when it's your turn. The biggest lie is when companies tell you that they have a family culture. It's not true at all. Family doesn't just drop you because you don't fit into their scheme. That's what they did to Lynette. She wanted more pay and better position. She probably didn't get it, found an opportunity elsewhere and took it. KTLA management told her to F off and good luck. They announced her departure. Mark is her friend and the veil was lifted from his eyes. Everyone should understand that a job is a job and there are no loyalties. Take care of yourself and look for the best deal for yourself.

I guess so. I think the guy named Mark thought she deserved more of a "goodbye" by maybe doing a tribute segment for her, and felt the network disrespected her by only making this announcement.

Normally news anchors get to announce themselves that they will be leaving. Something really ugly went down because she didn't get to announce it and also a news anchor doesn't just leave. Things are usually planned and on the last day they will say it. I'm sure somewhere in there management decided to tell her to F off when she gave them her 2 weeks notice. They probably told her that she wouldn't be needed any longer and good luck. So that's why Sam Rubin announced it.

It's because the station was bought out and the new owners are attempting to cut costs by running down contracts, not re-upping or offering low ball offers.

I just wiki it. Tribune was the previous owner. Looks like NexStar bought them out and merged it under their brand. Shame. KTLA was a good station. CW shows are crap, the WB days were better

Lynette was supposed to give the goodbye speech like the other anchors and reporters but management didn't allow it because she was leaving to a competitor so they escorted her out.

The guy who made a close friend after years of sitting next to her every weekend wanted to make sure she realized how much she meant to some of them, and not just another “employee number” who went through the turnstiles. In other words, a gentleman with a good heart. You on the other hand, sound like the cold type of wad that wouldn’t even personally tell her goodbye on her last day. You better bet that when Sam Rubin and Mark Kriski leave though, the station is going to be throwing parades and special shows for them. Unbelievable since they’re both just freakin cringe AF at this point.

Ooooh, well smell YOU, Pedro Cortez. It’s obvious to anyone that the station could “do” whatever they want. But the DECENT thing is to allow her to give her goodbyes after a quarter of a century there. Just the right thing to do especially when people wake up to the same anchors every morning.

Really? She devoted years of her life to KTLA and they handled her departure like she wasn't even important to them or to viewers. Says a lot about the station and how they treat their news anchors.

If you watch the news often you would see that they do say goodbye to news anchors in a much different way. This wasn’t even a goodbye it was an announcement that she was no longer from ktla5. It’s sad. She deserved better than this.
