Hi L3Bl3u, Hindsight is a great feature but unfortunately it is only on the Hero 9, Hero 10 & 11. Sorry about that. Good luck with your fishing though. What kind of fish do u catch ?

Hi rjf . Thanks for your comment. Your camera has to be on for hindsight to work on yr gopro. Once you turn your camera on and have hindsight selected in yr settings you are good to go.

Hey wego0 . Thanks for your comment and watching my video. The gopro must be turned on for around 30secs and hindsight selected in the menu for it to work. The reason quick capture doesn't work is because , hindsight needs time to store up to 30secs of footage before you press the shutter. I hope this helps.

@@AdventureTimMedia Thanks Tim, I guess my question is that if the camera is in video mode and I use the quick capture to turn on the camera, the camera will automatically start recording. I'm trying to get the camera to come on quickly, but NOT record until I hit the record button and allowing me to utilize the hindsight feature. Is this possible ? Thanks again

So if i run gopro10 with hindsight on with 4k 60 for fishing how long can gopro battery can run? Coz i need hindsight for fishing is best thank

Hey coda35! Thanks for your comment. That is going to depend on what kind of battery you are using. If you are using the enduro you will get a lot more life out of the battery than the old blue batteries. Using 60fps may use up a bit more than 30fps too, but i dont think it will be much. It would be good to take an external power source with you if you are going to be out on the water for a long time. ie. a gopro volta or even an external battery pack you can plug into the gopro, however, if you have to open the door of the gopro to charge it, you may get water in your camera which is something you definitely dont want. I'd also suggest wrapping your gopro in a floaty mount too, just incase it falls overboard as gopros will sink without one. I hope this helps.

so i want to use hindsight in my fishing matches. You say it is constantly recording but not writing to file until you hit record, my question is say I hit record after ten minutes and stop then stop it after 1 minute of recording, it then goes back to recording without writing to file, BUT say I hit the record button after 1 hour it will record the footage at that point of the micro sd - so say after 1 hour of non write record I have 30 minutes of micro sd memory left and hit record it will record at that point on the micro sd ? If the Micro sd is used up I cannot record anything, is this correct? Can I use this on LOOP recording without overwriting ? Will a 256 GIG micro sd give me 6 hours of recording time at 1080 60 fps ?

Hey Julien, thanks for your question about hindsight. When hindsight is on, you camera is constantly recording. Once you hit the record button you can capture up to 30secords prior to your current moment in time. So if you turned the camera on, turned hindsight on (and the camera reached the 30 sec time frame that you had chosen) then if you pressed the record button after one minute and then stopped it at the two minute mark, you would have one minute and thirty seconds of footage. In your scenario, if you have hindsight on ( with the 30 sec buffer for instance), when you catch your fish at ten minutes, you hit the record button and then stop it one minute later, you will have 90 seconds of footage recorded to your micro SD card. ( from 9:30 mark to 11:00 minute mark). If we use the same settings, at the one hour mark you hit the record button and then stop it 10 minutes later, you will have recorded from 59 minutes 30s to the 1 hour 10 minute mark. ( i.e. you will have 10 mins 30 sec of footage on your micro SD card. ) If you recorded the above back to back you would have one minute and thirty seconds of footage on your first file and then 10mins and 30 sec on your second file. I hope this makes sense. Once you use up the micro SD card you won't be able to record any more footage - even if you have Hindsight turned on. It's a bit hard to give you a definitive answer on the amount of time you can record on that 256GB micro SD card. Bit rate also plays a part in figuring out this calculation. The looping option is also something you could use in your case. There are several different looping time frames you could choose - 5min, 20mins, 60 min, 120min - or you could just choose the greatest option which would record until the memory card is completely filled up and then start overwriting the first footage you recorded. thanks for these informations but you to warn about Gopro overheating afetr 20 minutes stopping the camera or the timeout 15 minutes on GoPro 12... making that it's useless !?

Hey @jnvp511 ! Thanks for your comment. Overheating is not really a problem in hindsight mode. The camera is on but only in prep to be utilised so it doesn't generate as much heat. Once the shutter is pressed it uses more energy but if it is in a well ventilated location, overheating is less likely to occur. Hindsight is normally used to capture short clips - reeling in a fish, scoring a try or home run etc - so that also tends to be less of a problem. Hi TNVillager, thanks for your comment. HIndsight dies drain your battery quicker as your camera is always recording something in the background. it's a good idea to have another battery or an external one if you are going to have it in this mode for a long time. I hope this helps. all the best.

Hey bit.dibyajyoti! thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, hindsight does not work with quick capture. This is because the camera needs atleast 15 or 30sec to put it in full hindsight mode ( depending on your selection) . Of course you can have a shorter amount of hindsight time if you hit record while the camera is getting to its selected time but the camera is already on in this case.

Hey Khoi Kien! Thanks for your comment. unfortunately the camera does have to be on for hindsight to work on the gopro. However if you have turned on hindsight in settings and then turned off your camera, when you turn it back on again, hindsight will start operating straight away. However it won't have its full hindsight time frame that you selected ( either 15 or 30sec ) until that time has elapsed since you turned on the camera. I hope this helps.
