Such an interesting and different perspective to grappling. Even though I train in a BJJ school, catch wrestling is what really appeals to me, it's just unfortunate legitimate catch schools are non-existent in my area.

Yes man! I like this. It’s a good move. And I can see lots of other possibilities with this set up. I usually work my way around to the back and finish from there, but I like this sequence and I’m gonna try it from now on. Thanks 👍🏼

Very nice Neil. I do try stuff from here, letting the guy out as you show and usually spinning under and trying for a sweep but I wasn't too sure of exactly what I was doing and it wasn't working as consistently as it should. This really gives me something very specific to aim for getting a leg in the mix to generate the power.

I also realized that instead of sweeping, you can continue the roll over your other shoulder and land with the triangle on top on their back. Love this technique. It seems difficult and flashy but it really isn't that hard, it's just unorthodox. The easiest techniques to catch people with are the ones they aren't expecting and this is definitely one of them haha

Wow. I wish someone had told me to touch my knee to my shin for triangles like, years ago. Wow. Wow wow wow. I went to class last night and wrecked my partners (well, some of them lol) with tight trangle chokes.

Jeremy A just turn your lock foot(top foot) out and then that position naturally happens the choke so free and much less effort. Super easy on the abductor muscles too. They’re very small so they get tired fast. Just a tip.

I love this! It's honestly sad how many people try a shitty version of the kimura trap from half guard that is easily countered or not viable in their weight class. The advice at the beginning about people focusing too much on their arms and the principle of the attack (that the kimura and side triangle are brother sister techniques) is HUGE!

Another detail: if you don't keep your elbow down when locking up the kimura he can submit you when you let your leg loose

Sankaku!! Sweet! I now go to class...and tend to dislike most of the moves and details being shown. I am getting spoiled on all this Melanson stuff! From his book, to these videos, my game has gotten way better.

I feel like a Blue belt is equivalent to a Journeymen level for the trades. Because finding these High Level Teachers to train with in person is very rare. So for the most part you have to piece it together on your own.

I do a similar setup except when you release your bottom leg and bait the pass, I take the 2 on 1 above my head and spin to the opposite side. You will end up on their back and finishing with an arm bar. You never really release the 2 on 1 and use it as the anchor to pivote your body. Describing stuff is not easy :p
