In my personal experience loneliness stems from the lack of purpose, not from the lack of social connections. Find your purpose, focus on yourself and meaningful connections will cross your path. Many people want to "fix" loneliness by finding social connections first (doing a lot of social activities, having a full agenda, posting on social media to validate their busy lives) which only makes them even lonelier since most of these connections aren't meaningful or do not align with their path. And it is a win-win situation, you work on your self-development and learn to live in solitude PLUS make meaningful connections in the process - VS have a lot of non-meaningful connections and also being stuck in life.

So you’re saying having friends that don’t a line with your purpose, is a waste of time and you’re going to still feel lonely?
@robmaas3356
@robmaas3356 5 ай бұрын
@@Esa790 Not a waste of time, but you can waste too much time on them which you better can use for self development or for relationships that more align with your values.

As someone who has always been hurt by people i have fallen in love with, I have decided to stay single for my own mental well being but the idea of being alone in old age or when I am sick, scares me. I am hoping this podcast sheds light on how to deal with such situations, and gives me confidence to pursue the life i want

Cleaning my house is a form of meditation for me. It puts me in a zen state. I also love doing things on my own and waking up at 5 in the morning. But people do need to connect with kindred spirits once in awhile.

I stumbled across one of your videos looking for a good rest day stretch and this video popped up! For almost three years I've been happily and intentionally single and uninterested in actively seeking relationships. There's a lot of pressure, socially, to be in a relationship and it feels wonderful to come across others who are happy without pursuing that in their lives. There can be times where loneliness is present, much like when relationships can get overbearing and stressful and managing it can be challenging. I appreciate the insight you unloaded here. Thank you, I look forward to catching future podcasts (and I'll be back for HIIT and rest day stretching)

Thank you so much for sharing this topic. It’s so hard to talk about being lonely because it makes you feel stupid sometimes. Not many people on social media share or talk about topic like this. It’s nice to hear someone else’s approach to it. The fact that you talked about so many aspects of it it was very nice hearing how you work on it.

Love this Anna. I’m 21, renting in my own place, not on social media. I love time in my own space, but sometimes get lonely. I’ve learned to choose my social time mindfully, so I can connect then come back to my own space without overwhelm of social or loneliness. Still figuring out the balance. But love doing solo trips and things.

Anna, I am so glad we crossed path even just online. I'm happy that finally there's another girl just like me, love to spend time alone, single, live alone and love to take self on a date. I know there's German adjective word ,,Einzelgaenger" and it's okay to be one. yet, I'm struggling that most people in my country can't relate, they have in mind that people shouldn't be alone in life and it's a shame for woman being single in mid 20's. I tried to explain that I'm fine being this way, it turned out they assumed there's something wrong with my life. So, I assume that I might not fit in this society, for living different way not the way most people do. Just watched your podcast, it motivated me to carry on living life the way I want it to be.

Hey Anna, it sounds like you've been through a lot and it's wonderful that you've put yourself out there to help people. I'm alright at this meditation thing so here's my tip if you'd like it: sit comfortably in any position (i like sitting cross legged on top of a pillow in my bed), close your eyes and do a body scan - relax your forehead jaw shoulders etc, don't fight any thoughts at all, notice them coming into your head, say to each thought very gently and compassionately 'I'll see you a bit later', notice any feelings that come up ( boredom, frustration, sadness anger) and see how they feel in your body- it's your jaw tensing? Is your brow furrowed? My chest usually hurts for any of my negative feelings.. don't fight it. Acknowledge your feeling and gently say ' Sadness i know you're here and it's ok, it's ok my love'. Watch the emotion in your body. In my case it intensifies and then starts to pass away like a cloud and i feel my body let it go. A second technique is loving kindness meditation where your think ' may i be happy, peaceful, and without suffering, may i and my family be happy peaceful etc, may i and my family and friends etc, may i and every living being etc, and then come back to yourself- may i be happy etc. I would go with these two things before the breath stuff (which i do do and was taught when i was young)..I think these 2 techniques could really compliment your journalling :)

It was soothing listening to this. I have lived in Germany and I know the pleasures of shopping at DM :). If I may add to what can make you lonely. Where your friends stop speaking to you. On one hand we yearn for relationships but our friends who have been in one for long at times envy our single independent lives. And as a result I have few friends who have just stopped speaking to me. As these were close and good people in my life, loosing them as friends made me feel lonely and took some time to recover and forget with no hard feelings because as I said, these were good friends.

I can relate a lot. I feel lonely when I compare myself. Another reason is I'm quite ok being by myself and living with solitude but when I get false hope from a friend or loved one that they're here for me but in reality they're not actually, it makes me feel lonely and crave human presence. Otherwise I do pretty well being alone,and yes I do feel the solitude when I'm alone 🤍
