1440p 144hz is actually more demanding than 4k 60hz, because of the fact that you're pushing more pixels per second.

While I do have The Witcher 3, I haven't tried it out yet with the 1070, although I think most 1070 users can't get past medium/high settings at 4K from what I've read. I don't have fallout4 though. Hope it helped! :)

wercide I get that it's more expensive overall but the PC does much more than play games at 4K (and most games on the Pro aren't true 4K, they're 3600x1800). As for exclusives: Yeah, that's why I'm waiting for the Pro to get popular, so I can find a cheap, used PS4. I want Ratchet and Clank, Bloodbourne, and a few other games. All I was getting at is that the Pro is over-hyped. Though, it does have one advantage the PC doesn't currently utilize much, HDR output. There are very few games that utilize HDR on PC.

To each his own, I'm mostly using this for video/web browsing and coding so the extra sharpness is a must! :) But yeah, for gaming, g-sync is nice to have with Nvidia GPUs ! :D

Well it depends on what kind of games you play. 4k 60fps is great for RPG but for fps dependant FPS games like CS:GO, frames are really everything.

G-sync is a bit overrated. It can be bad for some games with input lag.

theacp127 Look at LinusTech video. he did a test between freesync and g sync and there was a big input lag in some of the tests.

You should be good with that i5! 🙂 Worst case scenario, you can overclock it a tad, but most game should run fine with it. Your GPU will be much more taxed than your CPU if you game at 4K 60fps! haha

AA is unnecessary at 4K unless you're shooting for really large screens. The resolution itself takes care of most the jagged edges.

This is what I was thinking. Would probably get some stuttering if gaming at 4k would go below 60. G-sync might alleviate/smooth that out. So many factors in choosing a new monitor! Aaaah!

The novelty of graphics does eventually wear off after some playing. Especially on the case of Ultra presets and 4K but not 144hz since it does more than look better.

I don't have a 1440p monitor unfortunately and my 4K one doesn't support 1440p, only 4K and 1080p resolutions, so I don't think it'll be possible :/ sorry!

As for 120hz 1080p or 60hz 4k, the 1080p screen will be easier to drive. You probably wont always get 60fps on the 4k screen, even when dropping down the settings considerably.

Hi, it's an LG 27UD68 27" IPS 4K Monitor! It's pretty good! :D

I've got 16GB of RAM too, but an older i7-4790k CPU. You should get similar or better performances than what I had! I'ld suggest you check out my latest video on the matter. And about the resolution, 1440p would be safe for most games at high/ultra settings, while 4K will give you various results depending on the game. Hope it helps! 🙂

minimalistik Thanks I am more into playing older games that I already have on my Steam account and maybe only some new games. I do want to get the HTC Vive and play those games soon though. I am not even really sure about the 144hz Gsync cause I don't play multiplaying much but I do want to put my graphics to look detailed when playing games. I was looking for a monitor that I wouldn't have to buy another later. I just think if I get one under 30" it would be better to get 1440 cause with 4k text and other things on the screen will become tiny unless you have a bigger screen. So yeah it's like do I need 4k for a smaller screen? 1440p would still look great but then you can play in 1440p on a 4K screen right? Just have an option to go to 4K if wanting to try it out. lol there is a 28" 4K monitor under $500 at Bestbuy maybe I should just grab it cause I have been trying to research which would be the best one for me or perfect one for my need and it's been making me not buy any.

I like details too, and that's why I went with 4K, but 1440p on a 27" screen or lower should look amazing too. My 4K screen doesn't support 1440p as a resolution. 1080p or 4K. Some games allow you to render 1440p but display it as 4K, but still, it's not standard. As for any monitor, try to go with an IPS one, it will make a difference too! 🙂

8GB should be plenty good for 4K textures! Mine's running at around 2012MHz.

Maybe those games are a bit more demanding? The Witcher 3 can be really power hungry, especially with hairworks. I'm not sure the 1070 is enough to drive the Witcher 3 at 4K stable on High/Ultra though, would have to try it out haha!

Yeah but checking out the overall performance 4K was the point of the video, so that's why 1440p wasn't tested or simply considered. When you have a 4K monitor, you really want to use all them pixels.

you want to get up to 60 FPS for the games because when on ultra if you are maxing out at 40 FPS you lose 20 Frames or 30% of the images, and then the frames will jump or tear a lot. The monitor is set to 60hz or a set 60 frames refresh rate so no matter what FPS your GPU is producing it will only receive at those intervals. the Exception is the G-sync or AMD equivalent.

Hi, probably! The A10 might be a bottle neck in some CPU bound games, but sure you'll get a better performance. The system might be a bit unbalanced though, as the 1070 is way more powerful than what the A10 can give. If you plan on upgrading to an i5 or i7 someday, then the 1070 is good choice, but if you want to keep the A10 for some time, the 1060 would be enough most of the time if you want to game at 1080p/1440p High/Ultra settings.

You should be able to get a better GPU if you build it by yourself, as most prebuilt focus on the CPU/RAM most of the time. The 1060 is an amazing card for the price, up par with the 980, which is way better than a 950! If you can come up with a build that includes a 1060 instead of a 950 for 800$, go for that one, it will be way more powerfull! :D

I don't know about all these games, but I can play Wolfenstein 1 (high settings) at 4K 60fps, so you should be totally fine with 1440p 75Hz at high-ultra settings. I don't know about the other games though 😄

Don't worry, I had trouble seeing the difference as well. The whole point of the video was to show the difference and help you decide wether you can accept it by going with a 1070 instead of a 1080. I'm totally fine not playing on Ultra but I know a lot of PC gamers aren't.

For texts/websites, the difference is pretty noticeable, but it might be a bit less for gaming. All I know is that 4K looks awesome!

What? Im going to use forza as an example. I play on locked 36 fps ( 144hz monitor ) with gsync and 8x AA at 1440p. Thats full AA 1440p, looks much better than on my 55 inch 4k tv with no AA and rivals it with 2x AA. If you want a simple way to compare look at the roof lines of the car on 3rd person.

I used to have a TV there so the wall mount was set according to that TV's size. Haven't took the time to lower it. It's not that bad IRL.

Like you said, I think a lot of games do not benefit from SLI or Crossfire or may even have bugs when used that way, so keeping the 1070 could be a great option! You'll also reduce your electric bills and it may make a substancial difference depending on where you live. Selling at the right moment is always hard, in a few years, the 1070 might loose less I'ld say, from personal experience when I sold my 970 for a decent price. Its pretty much up to your preference and about if you can live with the issues coming with a CF setup! :) Hope it helped!

To each his own for resolution vs. fps haha! :) But yeah, ambient occlusion can change the realism in the lighting, but from my tests, the difference was barely noticeable.

I do like my LG monitor, but samsung is pretty good as well. It really depends on the price and exact model at this point I guess haha! I think my choice would generally go for LG as they tend to be cheaper, but I have nothing against Samsung monitors.
