Blue sunburst dial with red lettering and second hand is far more attractive. Shame we didn’t see both the rhodium and blue dials together for comparison.

I have always wanted a Submariner but it is a little big on my wrist. I bought the 40mm Rhodium Yachtmaster and I love it! The Yachtmaster is dressy and sporty at the same time without being flashy. The easiest way to define these two watches is, the Submariner is worn by the captain of the super yacht whereas the Yacht Master is worn by the owner of the super yacht.

Everyone has a Sub. The YM has those sneaky good looks and is a more versatile watch. Plays sport/dress better. One of my favorite Rolex’s along with the Explorer, Milguass and Sky Dweller.

Awesome review of both watches! I own the Rhodium Yacht Master you feature in this video. I wanted a sport watch like submariner, but with a bit more refinement, elegance, and versatility. Something that stood out a bit more in the board room. The Yacht Master, was that answer.

With a Yacht-Master, you get some bling, some exclusivity, the fit of the Daytona, but with the movement of a Submariner-Date. You will find that dial rotation in rither direction is more practical. The Yacht-Master does not look out of place with a sport-jacket like the Submariner does. But one thing for sure: buy what you want!

The platinum bezel has a very unique purposes but something people don’t understand is that even if the platinum get scratched… once you sent it to polish, you won’t lose material in the platinum because of the density …

Savage Papi ALL the time. In fact, I even wore it to the beach today wearing swim trunks and a t-shirt. Then to dinner wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The watch is perfect in any dress situation.

Yachtmaster is my favorite Rolex, but I wish they offered an all steel version at a more affordable price. I've never had any interest in paying for platinum when it looks no different than steel.

Really hard for most people to feel the difference unless they have worn both pieces for a period of time. (not referring to trying on both pieces, but actual wrist time) I can say my Yachmaster is getting more wrist time and appreciation than my hulk.

Nice comparison of the two watches, I've just bought the 40mm rhodium dial yachtmaster ,its a beautiful classy understated watch, the dial looks black in some light & a very light grey in others. I like the platinum bezel as well, it appeals & is something different.

just bought one last week in rose gold choc dial YM 40....absolutely elegant classy and super rich.....fell in love the moment I saw it....and bought it ...my first Rolex.To be honest o wanted to buy GMT /skydweller two tone...... but the waiting period was rediculous .... but then while I was sitting at the ROLEX AD this watch caught my eye Sitting in the shelf and when I tried it in i felt kicking myself as to why dint I shortlisted this one ??? Honestly speaking even if they gave me the gmt/skydweller even at that very moment I would’ve gone for YM as it’s a stunner....I honestly feel it’s got all the best features Of all rolexes put in one.....love the polished lugs... the size is perfection (it’s a watch midway to datejust and gmt in terms of style size class and finess )and it’s the watch which is on both sporty and dressier side.You have to see this watch in person to justify the awesomeness of this watch fellas.

Thanks so much mate. And thanks for noticing the details, especially with seconds hands timed :) You can’t go wrong with either. Sub is a sport watch which can be used for dresses. Yacht is a dressy looking watch and can easily be used for sports (as it is a sports watch). If you prefer substantial size, non-blingy watch, to be used mostly with casual attire, Sub will do better. But if you prefer relatively lesser chunkier, and more shiny watch, plan to use it with more formal dresses; YM might hit it better.

I bought this YM a while back without the benefit of this review. It was the blue seconds hand ticking away on it's own beat n rhythm, somehow it stood apart from the rest of the watches in showcase. ( including the green sub ) it was an impulse buy n I have not experienced any buyer remorse. Today, after watching your review, yes, I made the right choice for myself. Thanks Hafiz. Your review should be made accessible to potential buyers of either model who can't decide on which to buy. There s another difference between these 2 watches which you did not mention : 22 hrs. 😃

100m water resistantance doesn't actually mean 100 meters deep water. "Water resistant 100 m (10ATM) Suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports. Not suitable for diving"

Can't believe the crazy demands for all steel sports Rolex while beauty's like the Platinum yatch master are readily available without paying a premium or waiting for it at a quiet vfm price tag. I like the proportions of yatchmaster over the submariner and would be my choice over the sub. Only wish the subs bracelet would have come with the yatchmaster.

Most of the owners will not need to replace the bezel insert because it won't be cracked like ceramic one.

Maybe for most of the people It is, in general, the same watch... But Rolex vision its not, Sub Is for all constumers, YM was design for elite reduce sector. ...great YM dial.

I agree. Yacht is more of a niche market but still preference goes to sub unless you really want a formal looks in the sub, and that’s when yacht comes in handy :)

all silver gold watch prices are rising since corona virus starts 2019.. example, one of this Yacht Master 16628 is a better investment as Same Tier compared to full gold for sub & gmt 2, both even without factory M.O.P & SERTI Diamond gems.

When I wanted to spend $20000 on a watch I wanted that it should actually look expensive and luxurious even to a person who does not know what Rolex means.I mean the watch should actually look worth the price even to someone who does not know thE brand. That In mind , YM was a clear winner as it actually looks rich and expensive to someone who has no idea about the brands , as it’s far more polished and bling/shiny/crisp.Sub on the other hand was way too simple/common. So I ended up buying YM 40 Two tone choc dial.just my 2 cents.

Gotta be honest, the YM does nothing for me. Maybe because watches like the Submariner, DJ, GMT are such classic icons. Also, at list price, the YM is $3000-4000 more than the Submariner or DJ41. For me to spend that extra money, I really need to love it. On a side note, I can’t believe Rolex hasn’t offered you a job in their marketing division. Underdog ha ha. Thanks so much. For YM, In the secondary market; it’s now same price as DJ41 on fluted and jubilee and already less than steel subs so price wise, it’s a great deal. If I agree, the design changes on Yacht does make it a more niche market product. I would prefer sub myself but not at current premium prices 😓

Hafiz J Mehmood sure on secondary market, it’s a good deal. However, I never bought on the secondary market. I have a wonderful relationship with my AD. I guess I’ve been lucky.

Underdog well you’re not representing the larger audience my friend, and happy to know someone who’s getting these at retail 😅 Or maybe things are just worst in Australia but I’ve given up believing these happen at rrp 🤦‍♂️

Hafiz J Mehmood it’s bad world wide. Even the world’s largest Rolex boutique in Dubai is empty. Like I said, I’ve been lucky.

Underdog i went to my AD here last week. They had 5 watches in total, and they were also Cellini. Not even a two tone date just. I could literally only laugh at why that big shop even exists. 🤦‍♂️ Enjoy your watches in good health my friend.

Good review and comparison. The YM is clearly the more versatile watch unless you really do dive. 99% of Submariners barely get in the shower these days, let alone salt water. But the Sub has become the "icon" to be seen wearing. I don't get the adulation of the bezel click. The reason the Submariner has a "clickier" sound is because, if you lever the bezel off, the bezel spring has a little pigtail that points up and clicks into machined ridges inside the bezel. It's a
