Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland discusses the book Hamlet's Mill, which is an essay about how knowledge of astronomy and the precession of the equinoxes might have been encoded in ancient myths. He discusses in particular his own research into the mythology and megaliths of Ireland and how important astronomy was to the ancient builders of Newgrange and other Neolithic structures.

The Cathedrale Engloutie is a reference to a piano composition by Debussy (Preludes, vol.1 no. 10) about the island of Ys, which is I think a kind of French Atlantis myth

Thanks a million Stuart. It's a wonderful book, but heavy going. Best to take it a chapter at a time! But yes, a seminal work and very, very important. Nice to meet you on KZfaq. :)

@@mythicalireland It's on audio book somewhere on youtube too, if you can't get a copy of it (for anyone reading this). Anthony, which one of your books is a good overview of the esoteric knowledge of Ireland's monuments? Is it the out of print book or your latest?

When A. says, "Who but I know where the sun sets," do you think that refers to Ireland's character as westernmost point of Europe, or, rather strictly of the astronomical points along the local coast?

Wonderful share! I completely agree, archaeologist SHOULD understand a bit about the astronomical workings before excavating any ancient sites, with them not understanding what the correlation of the ancient site to the stars is i mean it would be like hiring someone to cut your hair but they themselves are bald and blind.

What makes you think they don't know? Since the sixties or seventies archaeologists have been claiming cosmic meanings for ancient sites.

Who named the constellations? Do we even know? I've watched a lot of ancient history videos but don’t recall ever hearing anyone mention who named them. Thanks

Babylonians, and later, Greeks. The Zodiac at Dendera, Egypt uses Babylonian names mixed with their own Egyptian names for stars.

If the knowledge was there and it was shared with passion, then of course the story of winnie the pooh or Mary had a little lamb, would be just as simple as "this is what the stars do. It's just a different alphabet song that was taught. My question is- could the universal language have been feelings?

There are no wrong questions: It would be interesting to calculate the precession values of all planets and our sun. If there is. I don't know. Can't do it. Maybe our whole solar system is sort off wobbling together. I never read anything about this possibility.

Why would the Irish of used the babylonian/Hellenistic Zodiac signs or Arab/Greco-Roman constellation names and symbols?
@ridanann
@ridanann 3 жыл бұрын
The cultures you lifted there even in the places they themselves deny it do have continual ancestry where as in Britain and Ireland and we don't have continual ancestry that far back because this is the edge of the world so I would assume are system would be based indo-european work. The zodiac seems to be one of the oldest things I don't put much stock in mysticism but I have indoor plumbing I'd probably pray to the stars if I didn't LOL

Because those are not the origins of the zodiac. They all share the same one, with very few differences. Look at Martin Sweatman's work on the Ancient Zodiac

If the earth moves 1 degree every 72 years, how is it that medieval and ancient structures still to this day align with the rising sun on the equinoxes?
@mythicalireland
@mythicalireland 5 жыл бұрын
Because the equinox sun still rises in the east and sets in the west!! Just like it did in ancient times.
@whatabouttheearth

The sun still rises east and the primary aspect of our orbit is the sun, Aphelion is still around July 3/4. Precessional slippage is different, were are moving in many different overlaying cycles. Our orbit around the sun of 365 + days changes but way more slowly than the precession of more distant stars. The sun is inside our orbit and we are closer to it and orbiting by its gravitational pull, the stars are outside of our orbit and do not effect our movements.

The 25,900 year Precession of the north star has two equinoxes the Vernal and Autumnal. I find a better way to visualize precession is The Great Year whereby our solar system crosses over our galaxies double torus electromagnetic equatorial plane once every 12,460 years at the equinoxes. This crossing of the galaxies dielectric equator every 12,460 years causes Plasma bursts from the reconnection of the Sun's magnetosphere, Asteroid/comet impacts from crossing the galaxies kuipers belt, and E-W global Tsunami's due to teh increased EM gravitational pull along the galactic plane. The Climate cycles of our water planet are continental glaciers with lower sea levels (Dwarka, Atlantis's) brought on by E-W global tsunami's every 12,460 years at the vernal autumnal equinoxes (Gobekli tepe, Washington scablands) The Galactic Milankovitch cycles cause our climate cycles. Precession/Great Year, Obliquity is causing global warming due to the increased DIRECT sunlight at the higher latitudes poles thawing frozen CO2, Eccentricity regulates the intensity according to aphelion perihelion to the galactic bulge. Every 120,000 years half a full rotation the galactic bulge aligns with our solar system intensifying the E-W global tsunami's. The galactic bulge is currently moving away from us so we are headed towards aphelion. Earth is a closed loop that self regulates CO2 with life. Temperature rises first and CO2 follows as Obliquity increases the tilt of he earths axis in line with the 4 quadrants of our solar systems double torus electromagnetic field causing increased direct sunlight at eh higher latitudes poles. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Einstein. On this planet. All energy comes from the double toroidal EM fields we call the Sun and or the Galactic Nucleus. Covid like CO2 is a lie built upon an inconvenient truth. The Baby Boomers who were born en mass 75 years ago are starting to die from the usual suspects of seasonal FLU pneumonia and old age. Same symptoms causes of death as covid. Revelations 13 16-18 No Buying or selling unless you wear the MASK/MARK of the BEAST. The covidiot mask is just a pretext for the experimental RNA vaccine, contact tracing, testing of the BEAST. Jesus loved all races because there is only one race, the HUMAN race. Humanity is being divided distracted to be conquered, again.
