In the last year we've heard many times “I couldn’t do it, I would get too attached.” and “Are you going to adopt, or will you have to give them back?” These statements both look at foster care incorrectly, especially in light of the Gospel.
This video series is a plea on behalf of kids in foster care for Christians to get more involved. Part 2: • What Christians Need t...

It isn’t about getting to attached , it is letting them go to a bad situation.

Just started my journey 10 days ago and you two have been my motivation, thank you for being so positive. I'm kinship fostering so throwin in waaaay out of my comfort zone but I believe God will provide and lead my husband and I. I really needed to hear this message. Sadly these kids come from generations of fostering etc.

Praying for you Maria - as kinship you're really thrown into it and probably not something you were expecting ❤️ 🙏 The first few weeks are the most exhausting as you figure out how to add kids into the everyday routines.

Wow! An exciting next step for you and also nerve-wracking at the same time. Praying now for the kids who will get to come to your home as they walk through trauma.

I think I get what you guys are going for, particularly towards the kind of people you've talked to. The fact you're pulling together a community & growing confidence for adoption is so vital. But whoever fosters you want to be sure they're in the right place (mentally, emotionally, monetarily) to handle it, so it can be about supporting the vulnerable & not leave them childless feeling hurt & alone. If there's good online resources or support for carers that's probably really useful to share for potentials since it seems like it's been an intense process so far. Love the idea of church/community adoption.

Fostering has been something on our hearts for as long as my husband and I have been together (since junior year of high school). We’re not in a place yet where we are ready to open up our home, but we are working through a ministry at our church to become certified Parental Visitation Facilitators (Guardians ad Litem). We truly believe in the importance of foster care and the foster system and want to be involved in anyway we can. We are learning that there are so many ways to support foster kids and their families. We have been finding so much inspiration and guidance through your channel!

😭😭 thank you for your comment! I'm so thankful I made this video if only for you Heather to be able to make this leap of faith! I'll be praying as you start this journey. God has you right where he needs you, at the right time and knows exactly which kids you'll get to welcome into your home as you demonstrate being the hands and feet of Jesus ❤️ Buckle up- it's going to be a bumpy roller coaster - at times you may wonder why you got it in the first place, but oh it's so worth it ❤️ Excited for your family and the kids you get to welcome in.

Oh my goodness. I cried through this whole thing. I have had it in my heart to do this for Jesus but financially I’m not there and my spouse is not a Christian and is not in a place but I want to do it so badly...even tho I’m older and tired, I know the Lord would get me through. I will pray for you daily. May the Lord bless you

There are SO MANY things you can do without being a foster parent that helps kids in foster care - volunteering at a foster care closet, volunteering as a CASA (speaks up on kids behalf in court), make meals for foster families, get background checked and provide a date night for foster parents, and of course PRAYERS, etc However God has blessed you with the passions you have, you can use today. THANK YOU for your prayers ❤️ they are such a blessing!

Every child needs someone to love, encourage and support them to pursue their dreams. You two are doing a great job in A, D & W to fulfill their needs. Love your heart and emotion for these children and for the many more God is going to bring into your home. Gigi

I was on a mission trip to Bolivia a few years ago and we went to an orphanage. The place had a wall around the compound and barbwire on top of the wall. Nice place. They received donations from the churches and also to be as self supporting as possible they had two cows for milk, a hundred chickens for eggs and a few gardens. Since then it's been heavy on my heart to see more of what you are doing in the church.

My husband and I were officially licensed 2 days ago (so we’re in the ‘constantly looking at our phone waiting for everything to change’ phase haha) and your videos have been such a blessing during the licensing process for me! As a Christian, I felt extremely convicted based on all of the points you mentioned. We actually have four kids (five and under) and I was 19 weeks pregnant with our fifth when we first called our local agency. For years we said “we are doing so much by trying to raise our own kids as Christians”, which is true, but the real reason we ignored the need was because it was inconvenient and uncomfortable and had the risk of heartbreak all over it. However, we had the space for another child and met all of the requirements to offer a loving home and the stability we found in Jesus. We started to ask ourselves, “how could you possibly ignore the fact that you can help in an area where there is such apparent need?” I’m now 34 weeks pregnant and yes, this seems like very inconvenient timing, but God has given us so much peace and I’m looking forward to growing our faith even more so as you guys have described! Thanks for all of your videos!!

You two are amazing people, thankyou for making these videos. I am very recently divorced (not my choice) and only have my kids every other week. I feel like I may have more "dadness" to pass on to a foster child.

As a Christian, have you come across problems due to your worldview as far as being accepted as foster parents?
@HappyHoppe
@HappyHoppe 2 жыл бұрын
No because every state needs loving, safe homes. We were interviewed extensively during the home study and they do ask us about our faith. We understand that we are to help maintain the culture of kids who come into our care (since the goal is to go back with their family) and we are also allowed to share our culture as we continue to live our lives with kids in our home ❤️
