New sub here. The beginning of this video had me going! "Someone else that takes exactly the same approach that i use!" Until you chucked up that end mill in the drill. The machinist in me just cringed! (Taught long, long ago: a end mill is hella lot harder than the jaws on the drill, it can and will snap the jaws! Or it can just spinn free from them.) A twist drill is hardened but, the shank is soft this allows the chuck to bite. The two greatest inventions are straight flute extractors and lefty drills!

Hey man, great video. I have just bought a sportster and the right side front bolt was sheared off, and the threads are all gone. I bought a Helicoil kit and was going to drill it out. I tried to drill it, and blew one bit out, and my brother in law suggestion getting some cutting oil. I was hoping you may have some suggestions for what I should do to replace the threads in that front hole?
@HarleyDavidsonWizard
@HarleyDavidsonWizard 10 күн бұрын
Ya. Helicoil it. Drill slow. Use a liquid like cutting oil. And clear the chips frequently.

Man same bike broke both bolts had someone give me some angled ones you showed to pull it out I managed to get one out but the the top nut I must of angled it wrong and bit into the frame I also used a way bigger tap to get it out it ain't coming out belive me what do you think about those kits you drill out larger and it looks like a spring you slide down in their to create new threads do you think it would hold or what would you recommend doing retail bigger and just put a larger nut in it

Hello friend, do you know what material the milwaukee engine is made of as well as its internal parts of Harley Davidson?
@HarleyDavidsonWizard

The case is aluminum and the internal parts are steel.

@@HarleyDavidsonWizard Then that is why Harley engines last quite a long time. Right? ... Another question my friend ... I have seen videos of people who bought a Harley Davidson Fatboy 2021 and have problems with the rotor of the front brake disc. What do you think about this issue and do you think that this problem has a solution? It's very serious?

I haven't seen any problems with fatboy front rotors so I'm not sure.

@@HarleyDavidsonWizard to finish .... as you say that the milwaukee engine is made of aluminum and steel parts, this engine can last if you take care of about 400,000km ?. Proper maintenance applied.

Brad, as always great stuff. Question for you, recently purchased a 2014 Street Glide 10K miles. The owner was a retiree. My problem is the bike has a distinct vibration at 4600 - 4800 in every gear. As work through the gears 1, 2, 3, etc... vibration is at 4600-4800 in every gear. Thoughts on what I could check. I'm good with wrenches....Thx
@HarleyDavidsonWizard
@HarleyDavidsonWizard 3 жыл бұрын
I'd start checking for loose hardware or rocks that get caught between the engine, primary, trans and frame. Look closely around where the swingarm mounts to the transmission and between the primary to passenger peg area. Also around where the front exhaust pipe turns under the right rider footboard. Look closely for evidence of rubbing, like paint warn through or rusted bare steel areas. Also look check all exhaust mounts and the rear rubber mounts. Make sure the rear rubber mounts and have room to move back and forth between the ears of the slipon mufflers. Remember the engine, trans primary and swingarm are all bolted together and suspended in your frame with rubber mounts. So your likely looking for something that's interfering with the travel of those mounts transferring vibration. I check with a super bright flashlight and you'd be susprised how many times I find old battery bolts or air deflector hardware caught between powertrain and frame situations like this.
@HarleyDavidsonWizard
@HarleyDavidsonWizard 3 жыл бұрын
O and I'd check the front engine stabilizer link at the top of the engine for ware along with those bolts being tight also.

Ridged extractors suck! BS. I got them too. I’ve tried everything. I even have Innova Heat Induction Gun. Which helps break rusted bolts loose when I can reach them. I can do a lot. Just not broken bolts!!!!!

@@HarleyDavidsonWizard oh good. without seeing the bike it's a 2014 stock 103. it's flashing emc code s .1510 2127 2138 . so limp mode twist grip sensor.... is it likely that the emc is bad and I can't change the myself can I? second question name and location of your shop?
@HarleyDavidsonWizard
@HarleyDavidsonWizard 3 жыл бұрын
It's super unlikely that the twist grip sensor itself is bad. Its always the wiring or connectors are damaged causing the condition. The most commen spots on your bike for damage are a green connector inside the handle bar and also where the twist grip sensor itself plugs into the main wiring harness inside the fairing. I'm at motor city harley in Farmington HIlls Michigan.
@HarleyDavidsonWizard
@HarleyDavidsonWizard 3 жыл бұрын
If the fault is located at one if the connectors of the twist grip sensor. Alot of times the best course of action is to replace the twist grip sensor assembly. It just depends.

@@HarleyDavidsonWizard I don't trust the Harley dealer here. I cleaned and lubed every connector fron the headlight to the ecm.except the green connector in the bars, looked for broken wires.ect.... took it to this dealer, waited 5 hours while they tried to find the problem, I think they gave up and sold me a ecm. the bike doesn't go zoom zoom , it's a dog in first almost like it's in single cylinder mode. but once in 2nd it's fine, Rides down the hwy great. but 1st gear intercity is shit. are you guys way out on parts? cause they are telling me three weeks for the emc.
