I pulled out the chain drive and put in the S&S gear drive kit on my 2001. 509 cams. Did that at about 30k, just turned 50k. I hope my top end lasts, I really don’t want to fuck with this motor any more than that. I’m in Brooklyn so if I need help can I look you up?

Is the screamin eagle cam plate any good?. I have an 04 rk that has a 95" kit on it with that plate. That's what I was told, I did confirm the cam plate and 525 cams, but will the bearings in the cam plate hold up? 38 thou miles on the bike... Thinking about upgrading to the fueling oe plate

Yeah the screaming eagle cam plate is good but now with the fueling stuff everything gets upgraded to hydraulic tensioners which I much better
@michaelmitchell590910 ай бұрын
@bad-foot I thought the screamin eagle plate had hydraulic tensioner in that kit?....are they not?

@@michaelmitchell5909 some do and some don't you have to pull off the cover and see what you got going

@bad-foot hey man, just want to say thanks for responding back, I really appreciate that alot...,as far as my tensioner they are hydraulic screamin eagle. I'm just gonna run that setup for now, I use Lucas 20 50 in the motor and it runs good....I use tribodyn 75 140 in my gearbox, that's good stuff man, u shld check it out. They make 20 50 for vtwins also....it's more expensive than any other brand but it's on another level of quality than the other brands....even amsoil and Lucas or redline.

New subscirber here but just noticed you haven't put out any new content in the last 3 months. Is this a temporary or permanent hiatus?

Does the age of the motorcycle affect the wear of tensioners? My 2003 DWG has 6,500 miles.
@bad-foot4 ай бұрын
No it's only mileage that puts wear and tear on them

I didn't know you could remove the cam cover without relieving the valve spring pressure 1st? Is that common practice? I've always collapsed the pushrods or removed the rockers before removing cam cover?
@derrickw56605 ай бұрын
I believe you’re right but he started with the top in he only removed the cover to look at what was going on…
@tompeppint.v.38035 ай бұрын
@@derrickw5660 you don't want all that pressure on the plates , that cover helps support the cam plate
@tompeppint.v.38035 ай бұрын
@@derrickw5660 you should or several hundred pounds will be pressing down on the cam plate held in by those tiny Allen's 1/4" I believe

@@tompeppint.v.3803 im sorry about that i meant to say is how do you relieve the pressure when the motor is out the bike on a enigma stand….
@tompeppint.v.38035 ай бұрын
@@derrickw5660 sameway as in the motor , you either have adjustable pushrods you can loosen or pop open rocker boxed and back off the Ricker arms

He didn't butcher anything tho. I know what you mean but the engine was fukd already so he just pulled it apart the no non sense way. I'm sure he knows his shit pretty good.
