Thanks for featuring this song guys, from a time when Hazel was at her absolute best. I love the switch when on the 8th day "...machine just got upset, a problem man had not foreseen as yet!" A sobering thought.

Especially with all this talk of AI robots from people like Elon Musk. Are we about to take it a step too far?

This song was from a film called Breaking Glass released back at the beginning of the 80s.

We'll have to take a peek at that movie sometime.

I saw it when it came out but not since. Honestly not sure whether it stands the test of time.

@@hanierfamily It's a very " English " film being rather gritty. It tells the story of the rise and fall of a band . There maybe some faces in there that you may recognise.

She was so a head of her time, she wrote this in the 70s, and now it's coming to be.

your bland expressions listening to Haze singing her "pretty interesting" track about the apocalypse and communicative-rationalism, and your entreaty that your audience should "enjoy" the track is perfect for this. I'm surprised you didn't feature in the movie.

Think I was just leaving school when this came out. British music scene was very varied back then and I think much better than today. However I could just be being an old Krank!

ANOTHER GOOD 80S WITH A GOOD MESSAGE, LIKE EVE OF DESTRUCTION AND IN THE YEAR 2525

Thanks for that one. I had completely forgotten this song from my early teens. The 8th day from the 1980 movie Breaking Glass. Hazel plays one of the leading roles. From memory the movie wasn't that great but the music from Hazel was fantastic.
@hanierfamily Жыл бұрын
We'll have to see that movie some time. Some of the best music comes from not so great music videos disguised as movies. Purple Rain comes to mind.

This song is the "Rachmaninov 7" of punk, most performers run out of the theatre screaming at the end.

Thanks for doing this. You have to remember this song is 42 years old, it of course sounded fresher back at that time. so you might of have heard a lot of tunes in that time that are similar.. Although now you have got me going through my mind what song you might have heard that is similar to this.

All Hazel needed on stage, in the day, was "Big Arnold" as the "Terminator" standing in the background. (We're not far from that day when you think of the studies in automonous machinery and hopefully not weaponised versions at that) !!

Hanging around and D days are fantastic HAZEL OCONNER tunes . Hanging around was an original Stranglers track and she covered it. I thought she did it better in fact.

Thanks don't think i've seen a reaction to this. The whole Breaking Glass album was played until it melted by myself and friends😄 She went on to do more great albums. Before her illness she was doing well with some Folk like music. D-Days was a big floor filler

The matrix screen in the background is flashing out random stuff, numbers and so on, but ‘HELP’ shows up a few times. Kate, the singer played by Hazel O’Connor, needs help. She is being used and abused, (Remember, the music video is really a film clip) and had been drugged.

Welcome to the future nightmare of AI and data collection. Tip of the day- stay analogue and vinyl. I even still listen to radio on a 1949 Philips Bakelite radio, or should I say wireless. Use cash Listen to analogue sounds. Write letters. Use a pen and stamps. Good choice as ever.
