Refs definitely blew a couple calls. All things being equal, Vegas was still the better team on Night 1

The only consistent thing in NHL playoffs is inconsistency of the Refs.

Sharks fan here. Hill can make some big saves. He can also let in some backbreaking goals. He has a much better team in front of him than when he was in SJ.

Florida plays dirty.. I’m not a fan of that style of play in a team, but I get it. I know some teams have to do that because it’s only way they can win. As long as knights keep their composure it could be a sweep. Knights 5 on 5 hockey is beautiful to watch if you are a true hockey fan. It’s like an oiled machine. Very structured and disinclined for the most part. It’s pretty incredible how all 4 lines can score and their 6 defenseman can all play too.

The VGK are aware of Florida's game plan which is to disrupt Vegas' rhythm. Vegas did a good job of ignoring the Panthers' antics. I think the referees will be watching Florida closely. I expect supreme instigator, Matthew Tkachuk, will be monitored. Tonight's 10 minute misconduct and double minor is are indications that Tkachuk's bush league tactics will not be tolerated. Adin Hill has been outstanding. Way to go, VGK.

The reffing is always "something" when Wes is out there. I don't ever think it influences the game too much but it is apparent. It's fine and it is what it is. He's the perfect game management ref, which depending on who you are you either enjoy or it drives you nuts cause you feel calls are weak/make up calls.

Reminiscent of Holtby in game 5 of 2018.... that absolute SICK same stick save! Somewhat redemption for the Knights now? lol Tkachuk getting tossed instead of serving 2 mins is BS and could possibly be the game deciding call! How do you toss a potential Conn Smythe winner at the crucial end of game 1??? Was it penalty worthy? Yes. 100% But he then serves his time and comes back with 2+ minutes left in the game and who knows what happens!!!

Everyone says “Panthers against the refs”. I attribute that to Vegas being one of if not the most hated team in the NHL. People who aren’t fans of Vegas want to see them fail, so if there are any questionable calls, all of a sudden the refs are trying to make Vegas win. People have to understand the refs suck…in every game and every series. And fans always let their bias dictate what they “see” on the ice. The refs aren’t paid off. There will always be calls that go for or against your team, a good team will overcome that. Period.

I'm not bias, Hurricanes fan rooting for both teams. The refs were absolutely inconsistent, seemed to be just picking and choosing when they'd call a penalty. I liked how Tkachuk was just picking at anyone he could get in arms reach of but the 10 minute misconduct was pretty BS. He didn't injure anyone he was just being a tard, you're allowed to be a tard - at most a 2 minute penalty

The officiating wasn't event that bad this game, a missed call both ways, and a bad call both ways, not perfect, but fair

The lack of high sticking was probably one of the less egregious blown calls this game. In that mad first period scrum I specifically saw Hill punch someone with his blocker - which is usually an ejection, as it has been this season. But no, Florida got the only roughing penalty.

A pizza….funny. It was a lazy beach ball he threw to the middle of the ice and maybe even I could have handled it. Hill made some great timely saves especially one towards the very end and then Vegas comes back and scores. Going to be a fun series!

Not a fan of either team. The refs were atrocious again. They ignored penalties and called bogus ones. Hill chops cousins in the head with his stick? Cousins to the box. Dude toe picks himself? Tripping. Cousins cross checked/boarded? No problem. Vegas touches a guys hands with his stick? Penalty. On and on and on. Both ways. Hard to enjoy the game when players are getting phantom calls and real, dangerous penalties are ignored. I wish the refs would get fined $5k per bs call and $10k if the call costs a team a game.

The Panthers missed more on goal shots by hitting the post than the Knights scored. (minus the free open net) Florida came off a 10 day vacation. They're just getting warmed up. And for the record Vegas won game 1 against the Capitals too. How'd that work out? It's still a long series.

Not sure anyone is going to say Wes won the Knights this game, but there's a pretty distinct pattern here of Vegas getting the benefit of the doubt on game changing penalties the last few years. The no-call on the Cousins boarding was a big turning point in the game and looks pretty bad in comparison to some of the soft calls they made tonight.

Have we watched the same game? Adin Hill barely did anything and had one good save and panthers missed a lot of shots that was pretty much luck. Refs were obviously awful/inconsistent.
