It's not just in football though, people's mams and dads getting involved or trying to become celebrities themselves. I've been saying to the wife how weird it is because you see it all the time now. Robbie Williams' dad. Andy Murray's mam. Jack Whitehall's dad. Harry Maguire's mam. Harry from McFly's (or Busted, I don't know) mam was on Saturday Kitchen last week. WTF is going on? We are seriously losing the fucking plot in this country if people think that 'celebrity' parents have intrinsically worthwhile opinions or add value somehow, somewhere. I really don't get it.

I agree with most of what Danny Murphy said, except I think there is a sizeable minority at every club, of players who really don't want to play. They turn up at training, make to odd substitute appearance and pick up their 50k every week. No responsibility, no scrutiny, no pressure, no worries!

Of course they want to play. But they know they're on far bigger wages than their skill set demands at another smaller clubs. So they're happy to collect that wage. But it doesn't mean they're happy not to play

I agree in every sport there is someone who sees It as just a job. They are really talented and hone those skills for a paycheck. I think its a fair thing to do if its not their pasión. A lot of us work in things we dont like and will never see those wages.

My son played academy football for 6 years, and he's told me if he wasn't playing and someone else was playing in his position he would just watch all game hoping they would drop one clanger after another...its called the real world.
