As a Hextall and Roy fan, I love goalies with an edge to them. That said, there's a difference between standing up for yourself from players that aren't shy in taking potshots at you, and going out of your way to cause trouble while showcasing your frustration in a way that makes you and your team look bad. It's a fine line and some players cross it in the heat of the moment. The question is whether it's crossed consistently before I call them a problem player.

Binnington literally looks like an ECHL goalie until like late January-early February then gets his head screwed on straight and turns into Patrick Roy for the remaining 20 regular season games and playoff games. It's the most bizarre thing to watch year after year.

I had to come back to this video because it's a great example of why "The Chief" Craig Berube is one of the best coaches in the NHL. Since this happened the Blues have been playing pretty well.

I've got a theory for his poor behavior. Nothing to back it up except a similar experience by a relative. He was targeted a lot when he started in the league because he was good. Now maybe subconsciously he lashes out everytime he feels threatened, and often disproportionately comparing to what he sees as an "offensive" or threatening move. In other words, become the "bully" so people will think twice before coming after you. Again, it's just a theory

I’m a goalie and I know how it feels when your emotions are running hot and you’re having a bad night but you gotta know when to calm down and not completely lose it. I appreciate all goalies(I’m a caps fan and even appreciate the bruins and pens goalies) but binnington I can’t seem to appreciate this isn’t the first time he’s chirped when the score has been run up on him. I think he’s a great goalie but when he does this childish stuff I lose respect for the man. I hope nothing but the best for the man and I hope he prevails this mental battle or whatever he’s dealing with for him to have these episodes.

Might be time for a new coach. Defensive structure shows up to only half the games, offense is competing for last place in the league, team captain has been invisible in 75% of matches. The Blues have all the player components they need to be successful, but for some reason can't organize themselves to play together. That's not on the goalie. Binnington has had his antics, but aside from Robert Thomas has probably been the most consistent player on the team and shows up every game and he does his job. Berube has NOT been doing his job. I don't care what happens on the ice or how bad it goes, teammates and coaches don't call out each other in a postgame interview. The fact that this is coming from a head coach is the real embarrasment.
