Here is a quick review of the IQAir Healthpro Plus air purifier. I am not sponsored by any air purification company nor do I want any sponsorships... so My recommendations are my honest opinions - So, I had sold the IQAir Healthpro Plus and over 40 other air purification brands for about 15 years. I currently run an IQAir Healthpro Plus in my house and I ran one at my desk at work for about 10 years. I sold thousands of these units over 15 years and spoke with hundreds of people who used the solution and so I received a lot of feedback on the performance of the units as you would imagine. So based on my experience with the Healthpro Plus - here is my quick breakdown on what I think are some of the more important variables concerning the solution that people should know: #1) the IQAir Healthpro Plus is a Swiss-made solution that filters better than HEPA so, it actually filters particulates like dust, allergens, and physical contaminants better than 99.97% down to .3 microns - which is HEPA. THAT is what makes the HealthPro plus so special. They call it HyperHEPA filtration... and 90% of the particulates in the air we breathe are actually smaller than HEPA - or smaller than .3 microns. So, the Healthpro Plus actually filters 99.95% of particulates down to .003 microns... That is 100 TIMES smaller than .3 microns, again, which is HEPA and this ability made the HPP the best mainstream, particulate filtering, stand-alone, air purification solution in the United States and around the world for many years. So, I dealt with over 50 to 100 hospitals through the years, and out of the 40 plus air purification brands that we sold- the US hospitals that I dealt with, would ONLY order the Healtpro Plus. I can't ever remember having a US hospital order any other brand of air purifier in this category - in 15 or so years. So, that tells me something right there about it's quality. So, it has ELITE particulate filtering capabilities - It is world-class in this regard. I considered it the Bentley of the industry for many years. Health Pro Plus Review 2023 #2) yes, it also has some carbon to filter odors and VOCs and I feel it is a pretty good solution for odors, as well... as my 1st experience with the unit was in a freshly painted room with brand-new carpeting and the paint and carpeting were off-gassing tremendously - so, when you opened the door in the morning to the room- you would get hit in the face, with a blast of VOCs. And we'd turn the HealthPro Plus on and within a few minutes - boom! you couldn't smell anything in the room - so yeah, the unit is pretty good for odors/VOCs, as well - but, that is not the #1 main strength of the solution, still, I definitely found it to be pretty strong for odors and VOCs. #3) So, Who buys this unit? Most of my HPP customers were residential consumers. It is one of the best solutions for Asthma, allergies, and dust. I've had a few customers tell me it lowered the number of times they used their inhalers by more than half. I've had others say they stopped their allergy medication altogether - it really depends on the person. For some people, it can definitely be a life-changing investment. It depends on a few variables in your environment and your particular needs. It is also a great solution for Pet Dander: I had a gentleman with 3 cats and he was experiencing really bad chest pains from them... and he called back a day after getting his first HPP and he ordered 2 more units for the rest of his home as he said it made a huge improvement in his breathing and he wasn't getting chest pains anymore - he was amazed. He became an evangelist for the solution.. basically, we could have put him on the phone w/ people and he could have literally sold the solution for us... So, I definitely like it for allergies, asthma, dust, pet dander, and mold, and it is good for wildfires, I also like it for 2nd hand some - basically, your neighbor is smoking and it's bothering you... - for all those applications - I think it is still one of the best solutions on the market. Hi Doug, I just bought two IQ Air HPP. Our house is 2928 square feet. The foyer and family room have a 16 feet ceiling. As you enter the home, a small living room is on the left and small dining room on the right. The foyer has stairs to the second level where the bedrooms are. Once you reach the upstairs hallway, you can see the both the family room (back of the house) and the foyer on each side. The best way to describe the second-floor hallway is like an open room concept and the only thing keeping you from falling on either side are the stair rails. (reminds me of a bridge) I don't know where to position my new air purifiers to get the best air cleaning exchange since my ceilings are so high. I bought two so I could use one in the family room (open concept with a small dining area and kitchen) and one upstairs in the hallway for the bedrooms. The bedrooms are split up, two on one side, and the other two on the other side. If I can't leave the IQ Air HPP in the upstairs hallway near the one end of the hallway for proper air exchange for the rooms, where should I place the second one? Should I place it at the front of the house? My husband suffers from allergies, to mold, dust, pollen, pretty much everything. If I need to get purifiers for each room, what do you recommend? I personally don't like white noise when I'm trying to sleep and use ear plugs because I'm a light sleeper. Thanks Doug!

1) I would def. put a HPP in the bedroom when your husband sleeps at night. Putting a unit in the hallway will unfortunately not do a good job in the rooms off the hallway... the units really need to be inside the rooms. 2) 16 ft. ceilings and having such an open space will make it very difficult for the unit to get any true "air exchanges", IMO. But the air comes out at the top on all 4 sides and it shoots the air kinda parallel to the floor vs. shooting it straight up towards the ceiling like some other air purifiers. So I would position it near your husband when he is in the kitchen or wherever he tends to be. I used to have an IQAir HPP about 2 feet from me at my desk at work and I ran it on speed 5. I could feel the air hitting my arm. I was in a 6,000 or more sq. ft. space so I was never going to achieve any real "air exchanges" but it was def. blowing clean air in my "general area". I am sure the air in my area was much cleaner than the air 50 ft. to my right. We currently have a HPP in our family room open to our kitchen and hallway and staircase, lol... just too much space for 1 unit to accommodate... so I have it positioned about 6-8 ft. from where my wife tends to sit and look at the computer and I'm sure is does a decent job for her, since the air comes out in the manner it does. 3) "If I need to get purifiers for each room, what do you recommend?" If you have bedrooms and want one of the best then it would be the HPP - but I know that can get expensive... If you want a good unit at almost 1/2 the price of the HPP ($500) and much smaller for a bedroom sized space... but good quality... -then you could look at the Airpura R400: www.airpura.com/products/r400-the-everyday-air-purifier?_pos=2&_sid=9d6085fe4&_ss=r It also has 8 lbs. of carbon so it is also good for odors. If you want something decent for dust/particulates, for bedroom sized spaces... and maybe one of the best for under $230 - then you may wish to consider the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH: amzn.to/3CYTZwD It is currently $142 on Amazon which is the LOWEST price I've ever seen for it!!!!! I purchased mine for $229.99 on November 6, 2023... so this is BY FAR the best price I've ever seen... I think I am getting angry I paid so much more just 4 months ago, LOL! 🤣 So, those are a few things to consider... Good Luck!👍

Hey Doug, thanks for the informative videos. Been watching all day, was wondering if you had a video or thoughts on the Air Doctor units? We currently have one, but moving into a new home and have a baby on the way so looking to get a few more units but so torn on which direction to go. We like the idea of the Austin air bedroom units and then one IQ air HPP, or considering staying with one brand and getting more air doctors but wanted to get your thoughts, thanks!

Thank you for watching some of my videos and congrats on the soon to be new addition! I don’t have any first hand experience with the Air Doctor units but I have been asked about them multiple times in the past - so I have done a little research on them… + I want to get one to do a review on it, eventually. So, here are some of my current thoughts on the Air Doctor Product line: 1) The filters are implemented in a perpendicular manner to the floor - for most of the units and this is not ideal for sealing issues. Dirty air will escape around the fillers over time. Filters installed in a parallel manner to the floor can be superior solutions for sealing issues - like the IQAir HealthPro Plus and the Aeris 3 in 1. 2) Air Doctor has documentation which shows that some of their units have been 3rd party tested and they claim to filter 99.99% down to .003 microns but I HIGHLY doubt this to be true in the real world. That is better filtration than the elite IQAir HPP but the Air Doctor units are not sealed nearly as well as the IQAir HPP. And the HPP doesn’t even filter 99.99% at .003 microns. So, they are presenting some really sketchy 3rd party testing documentation, IMO. Yes, some 3rd party testing labs will provide testing results which make some of the units appear to filter better than they actually do. No ethics. 3) Air Doctor has used some very sketchy/underhanded marketing tactics in the past with online influencers making their units appear to filter at an elite level when this is not the case. And influencers are more than willing to throw all sorts of debris into the filters to make them super dirty and seem like they filter extremely well because Air Doctor provides them with a 15% commission on the sales. And this is the most commission I’ve seen for any air purifier in the entire industry. Now, I am not against influencers making money with manufacturers (Heck, even I want to do this) but - they have been more aggressive then most manufacturers and the few influencer videos/blog pics. I’ve seen show a ridiculous amount of debris stuck to the prefilters - which will NEVER occur in the real world. Fake marketing. I run 7 or so air puriifers in my home and I’ve never accumulated even 20% of the debris these influencers show on their prefilters - which supposedly got filtered within only 4 weeks or so. I believe they coached these influencers to make the prefilters super dirty - as the influencers were “generic” and not “air purification” specific influencers. I believe these are unethical marketing practices. 4) The Air Doctor units only have a 1 year warranty which I think STINKS and it is one of the worst and shortest warranties in the entire industry - that I have ever seen in 16 years. Very Bad! Where is their confidence in their product line? I cannot believe they are selling air purifiers - mostly for over $300 - and they only have a 1 year warranty… I was very surprised when I found this out. They are definitely one of the worst manufacturers when it comes to warranty length. And I complained in past videos about Aeris only having a 2 year warranty, LOL! I mean, only 1 year??? Crazy. 5) All that said, I think they are decent solutions - kinda like average - but not elite. But definitely better than nothing. And so I'd probably rank them around #12B on my current dust/asthma ranking list for a 300 sq. ft. room. So, I currently think they are decent but def. not elite. 6) Here is my current listing of some of the best air purifiers for dust/particle filtration for small and large room sizes: airpurificationeducation.com/asthma-allergies-and-dust-particulates-in-general/ Please let me know if you have questions - thanks!👍

@AirPurificationEducation thank you so much for your informative videos! I read some reviews reporting a sweet odor coming out of the AirIQ HealthPro Plus. What would be your advice to resolve this issue, please?
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 2 ай бұрын
1) In general... I think a lot of IQAir HPP customers are possibly chemically sensitive and therefore may smell something from the units that other people do not. I think a lot of MCS people - after doing a lot of research - eventually find out the HPP is "one of the best units on the market" and therefore, IQAir gets more of these types of customers than some other brands. This is a theory I have. With MCS people - you just never know how they will react to the solution... some LOVE the HPP and think it is the best thing they've ever bought but others "smell something coming from it"... I think steel units like the Austin Air Bedroom unit and the Airpura Product line will offgass less and probably pose less of a risk of irritating MCS customers. 2) That said, I do know, IQAir admitted about 10 years ago... that they got a "bad batch of carbon" as many customers were mentioning they could smell something from the unit (more than just MCS customers). I don't take this as a negative as I was AMAZED that they actually admitted this (at least to their dealers)... most manufacturers try to "hide" these types of issues. So, it is possible the quality of their carbon fluctuates over time - but the same can be said for other manufacturers, as well. For ex. I spoke to multiple Austin Air Plus customers who told me they smelled a musty odor from their units after 6 to 12 months of ownership. But I don't think I've heard this the past 3 or so years. 3) I've had 2 IQAir HPP units and never had this issue - I know, super small sample size, lol... but if you get a HPP and you don't like the smell - and you are not MCS... then you can tell them and ask for a replacement carbon filter, I think. If you are MCS then I think that means you will probably want to look at an Austin Air Bedroom unit or an Airpura solution. 4) If you want other options to the IQAir HPP solution - I've recently made a ranking of some of the best units for particles like dust/allergens, etc. that may be of interest to you: airpurificationeducation.com/asthma-allergies-and-dust-particulates-in-general/ 5) that page is a link from a new Air Quality Solutions guide I've recently made: midd.me/euyH it is currently a small reference but it will grow over time. Please let me know if you have questions. Good Luck!👍

What's your opinion of the Medify Air MA-112?
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation Ай бұрын
I don't have any 1st hand experience with it but it looks like a decent unit. That said, they put the carbon last in the filtration process which I think is a mistake. The best air purifiers put the HEPA filter after the carbon so it can catch any carbon particles. IQAir, Airpura, Camfil, etc. all put the HEPA last. Thanks!

Can you check out the Intellipure? There's a video of it showing zero output of particles at 0.1 micron.
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation!👍 Of Note: if you put an air quality monitor close to the opening of an air purifier where the clean air comes out - it will sometimes/oftentimes display a Zero Reading as if the air is 100% clean for that level of particulate... however, it is oftentimes a false reading as the airflow is causing the sensor to give a false reading. There is a video online of a fan providing a Perfect 100% reading, as well, because the airflow is making the air quality monitor give a false reading. So, these readings from testing equipment can be misleading sometimes. All that said... Here is a comment I made 2 months ago on Intellipure for someone else: I don't currently have any experience with Intellipure other than: 1) someone posted on my channel about a month ago that they purchased their $899 unit and it broke within 2 years. 2) And he was disappointed and was trying to get the manufacturer to help him. It didn't sound like they were helping too much. 3) Annual filter replacements appear to be $285 which is fairly expensive. 4) I know they talk about the DFS Technology but I haven't really seen extensive information that explains it well - other than it is "an energy field". 5) I saw their EN1822 testing results which look pretty impressive... but the test was done by LMS and I'm not sure how reputable they are as a testing company as I saw they tested an AirDoctor at 100% down to .003 microns and I don't know of any air purifier that hits those numbers. So, I am somewhat skeptical of those testing numbers. 6) If I'm looking at their filter arrangement/order correctly - it appears they put the carbon filter last in order and that is generally not a good thing as you can get carbon in the air you breathe. Most reputable air purifier manufacturers put the carbon b4 the HEPA filter so it can catch any carbon particles. That is "Air purification 101", IMO. 7) I couldn't find their warranty on their website which in my experience is very rare for an air purification manufacturer. IQAir talks about their 10 year warranty and you can easily find it on their website. Austin Air has a 5 year warranty which is pretty easy to bring up on their site, as well, but Intellipure's warranty is not readily found for whatever reason... That is somewhat of a red flag for me. So, I'm not currently really sure about them... They may be great but I don't really know at this point. Thanks! 👍

How does it compare to the IQ air gc? Is the gc better for VOCs and mycotoxins?
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 9 ай бұрын
I think the HealthPro Plus is typically a better option over the GC for people in most all cases unless the person specifically has a serious VOC/Odor issue to resolve. The GC has 12 lbs. of carbon and the HPP has 5 lbs. of carbon but they both have the same type of carbon. So yes, the GC is better for VOC/odor intense environments. That said, the GC does NOT filter at a HEPA level - it only does 99% at .3 microns and 95% down to .003 microns. Whereas, the HPP filters 99.97% at .3 microns and 99.5% down to .003 microns. And 90% of the particles in the air we breathe are sized .1 to .003 microns + they are the MOST DANGEROUS to our health. The HPP is Elite for particle filtration and I think it is better for mycotoxins - so I'd go with it over the GC unless you have a lot of VOCs/odors in your environment. Hope that helps - thanks 4 the question! 👍

@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 9 ай бұрын
If your basement is musty that typically means your relative humidity is over 60% for the summer parts of the year (assuming you don't have water entering your basement). If true -then you would require a dehumidifier to keep the RH below 60% during those times. If you already have mold in the basement (and it sounds like you do) then it is also upstairs in your home and you need some type of mold remediation service to eradicate it. - @@melissa377

If you are reacting to smells that means you are somewhat chemically sensitive and I've found this to oftentimes/typically be caused by mold (in folks that I've talked to in the past). But there are different levels of MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities). Do perfumes and colognes bother you? I'm guessing "yes". And to what degree? Do you just not like the smell or does the smell give you headaches? Also, how long have you been at this location? Thanks! (I'll be gone for a few hours but I'll come back to look at your answers- thx).👍 @@melissa377
